Good morning, the low was 36°F and we are going to a high of 41. Sunny. 2% chance of showers this morning.
Normally I use environment Canada for my weather but that site is having a problem this morning so I switched to weather.com.

Although we had had a couple of heavy frosts, one hard enough to do in the remaining tomatoes on the plants, there is still no sn*w,< that is a four letter foul word>, in the forecast.

North Bay trip is in the cards for today. Leave here at 8:30 A.M. and be back about 3:30 P.M. as far as I know today there are only 8 stops. There are some that we can 'kill two birds with one stone'.

Have a safe day all

Morning all,
Had the tractor out to move the big slab benches around.
Play (clue) at the high school was pretty good. The girl my son hangs with was in it.
Tired today, so much to do...

PopG-glad your training ride went well, hope you get to miss the storms while airborn

Went to start the lawn tractor yesterday, only one click, battery less than a year old and I swore it was on the charger.
Will see what that is about today.

Rip-glad to hear the new septic is finally in!

Kyle- as kids we used to have bottle rocket wars. Would hit each other sometimes. No lasting damage done, but...

stay safe and be well,
🐶 🏠

RNG, it's all controlled by legal. If they rotate them at older than 7 years and they blow on you killing someone, they may assume some liability as last professional that
touched the tires. 7 years of free rotation isn't a bad deal and most folks wear their tires out in that period of time. Most newer tires have improved cold weather performance which may be irrelevant to many of you but to those of us who get winters, newer tires often mean better grip. Hopefully they grind up and recycle the old ones.
My friend's Ridgeline had 45k on the oem Firestones and they still had a surprising amount of tread. But they were only four years old.
His concern is that between his four tires he had four plugs in them. Never a problem afterwards, but does he want to drive across country on four tires with 50k miles on them and
at least one plug in each? I think this is where he sells his existing tires to the second hand market for a hundred bucks and would ride with more peace of mind with new tires.

The Hispanic fellow who bought my 275/20's for his sister's boyfriend's Ram truck wedged them into a seriously rusted out Honda Civic Hatchback. Jammed those dirty tires into the back seat and then last one in the hatch. On the way out he dropped the bomb that he need two more, gosh six tires on this truck. And I'm thinking, oh no, you foolish person, you have a dually and you very, very likely need E rated tires and these sure aren't those. I just didn't want to know... After he tried to beat me down 20 bucks on a firm price deal, I wanted him out my driveway.

That's some good perspective, Drew. Thanks.

This would have been the second time Costco would have rotated the tires, but the truth is I did it myself the first time, so that "free rotation" offer isn't of as much utility or value to me as I thought it would be. Truthfully, it was pretty inconvenient having to wait around for a couple hours for them to do 30 minutes of work. I spent that time filling up a shopping cart, so it was worth a lot more to Costco than it was to me. Neither was the free flat repair. I used it once, and it was more like three hours of waiting, and they told me they'd do their best to get to it that day, but couldn't guarantee it. Maybe they need to take better care of the customers they already have?

While I agree that I wouldn't drive these tires across the country again, the tread pattern on this set of Michelin Defenders was good enough to get me across the Rockies and back in the depth of winter, with a few white knuckle stretches thrown in there just to keep things interesting. I carried chains on that trip, but never broke traction so didn't put them on. Not sure how much better a tread pattern needs to be. For my needs, the tires on there now will easily go another couple of years. The sidewalls aren't checked, the tread depth is still pretty good, and for getting back and forth to town, they're all I need. And when it's time to replace them, I'll look up the shop that tried to help me with what I thought was a balance problem on the van. They spent an hour balancing four tires they didn't sell me, then wouldn't take a dime for their time.

Good morning! 51˚F heading to 70, clear skies. The wind really picked up yesterday sending leaves on the ground over the house.

Got an appointment for my Moderna booster and wife's JJ booster at the same pharmacy tomorrow. I guess we will both be felling poorly Sunday. The booster jab will take me off the knee surgery waiting list for seven days but it should reduce my chances of contracting Covid in the hospital.

Slept with window open last night, inside temp went from 75 to 72 overnight.

Ron quite an assortment of birds in the morning pic, so birds of a feather do not necessary flock together when free food is offered.

Kyle the lemon tree was not on the patio and on the North side of the house, but it was covered.

Today is National Cat day, I need to get GrayTwo a present.

Pic is the new neighborhood 2 mile trail that will be opened Nov. 1. I did a sneak preview with Whipper.

50 degrees going for 71 and only 15 mph breeze this morning. I knew it was windy yesterday, but I guess even worse than I thought for some. The TV news listed a lot of places with power outages, and even showing some to still be out this morning. The DFW Airport had lots of flight delays yesterday. I can just imagine pilot taking off and landing with a 50 mph cross wind. Maybe things will be back to near normal today.

You might better see if he wants to learn how to check to see if a firearm is loaded!

Don, the latest Medcram video talks about which booster to choose. Sounds like you get better results if you had J&J if you boost with one of the others.

53° and .17” of rain. Radar shows green and yellow from here to Buppies area. Occasional gust of wind really sends the yellow leaves flying.

No decision on camping yet, can’t check in till 3 pm

Was up way too late last night.
Got these fall bugs getting in behind one screen that doesn’t fit tight.

a very nice community of birds Ron.

Phil, kick back and enjoy Fall. The snow will be here soon enough. I bet Bill already has had some.

Buppies seems to get "my weather" about 12-24 hours earlier than here so yes it's going to get wet here very soon.
Mower/bagger makes a fair amount of noise so not going to run it before 9am. We'll see if the rains come by then.
Weather patterns seem to go North and East, on about a 45 degree angle. I wonder if one put a protractor on a map with
Buppies home and my town, if it would be close to 45 degrees. (admittedly not so hot at trig)
I understand that weather goes from West to East due to Earth's rotation but South to North because ? heat rises? Gulf Stream?
All the big storms here other than Nor'Easters always have a Southern tail that seems to dip into the Gulf and scoop up water to
bring to us further North. I'm sure there's a better/scientific way of explaining that.
Tracking these weather patterns on radar is pretty interesting.

Originally got my interest up when going boating on Bays or in the Atlantic.
My job to bring everyone home alive and if I didn't watch the weather or listen to VHF weather channel,
all kinds of surprises can happen. Like afternoon storms on the Chesapeake in the heat of August that can be epic.
I once heard cries of help from a dozen sailboats that got knocked down in a whiteout storm outside of Annapolis.
I always tried to get in and tied up by 3pm. Lots of afternoon storms. And with global warming they are likely to get more
tropical, more intense, and much less fun to be out in. My Carver would get blown all over the place in high winds with only a three foot
draft and a flattish bottom. The Bertram was heavy and had a deep V hull, it just plowed through bad weather like a destroyer.
But I tried to avoid bad weather since if you scare your wife, it isn't likely to end well.

about a five hour drive west of PJ/St Louis is the excavated wreck of the steamship Arabia, which hit a big log/stump in the Missouri River and sank
almost immediately, thankfully not fully underwater so everyone got off. Except one mule I think...
Now that was interesting boating for sure. He hit a stump in fog with no charts, no radar, and no visibility.
I was an early adopter of electronic chart plotting on my boats, always had the best Garmin I could buy. Bent a lot of props over the years in the Chesapeake
even with good electronics. But then we were constantly going places, not sitting at dock.

A fall boat cruise on the Chesapeake with the leaf colors can be simply amazing. Toppop, find a covered warm boat and go for a ride.

My friend, Capt. Dize runs a small fleet of tour boats, we are trying to get a group of friends together to do just that next weekend.

I really like the movie "The Hunt for Red October", but can't recall every hearing anything else good about Alec Baldwin.

62, breezy and cloudy, looks more like we will miss most of the heavy rain.
Got the grass mowed yesterday fir the final time this year, wild onions and garlic already popping back up.
I spread some leftover gravel from last summer’s projects. I knocked the top off and back dragged it level.
When I was about twenty, several of us bought the cheap Daisy BB guns to play Army, we’d go out after dates on Friday and Saturday nights to a pine thicket. We wore goggles and tried to shoot toward legs, but how darn dangerous was that?

52°F and rain this morning, going all the way up to 55° today with rain expected pretty much all day. We're on the back end of the swirl now, which seems to have stalled from it's previous northbound direction.

Kyle, it seems like it never took much to get The Eagles arguing amongst themselves. Having played that song in an acoustic trio, it is indeed a difficult song to sing. Aging certainly doesn't make it any easier.

RNG, when I bought my last car, a 2014 Kia Soul, it came from the factory with Nexen tires. I got 70,000 mile out of those tires before the tread got too shallow and I started losing traction. The service guy at the Kia dealer said he'd never head of getting that kind of mileage on a Nexen tire. I asked him to replace them with the same tires. Unfortunately, they didn't carry them (oddly), so I ended up with Yokohamas instead. Decent tires, but never got much over 40k out of them.

Every day is Cat Day at our house, Don ... and Dog Day, for that matter.

It's stink bug season at our place, BEF. They haven't been quite as bad this year, but it seems more are getting inside than normal.

We did that when I was young, too, Randy. We'd wear goggles and the thickest clothes we could find. Most of us went to a local surplus store and bought used BDUs. We had a "one pump rule," and no head shots. It was probably stupid and unnecessarily risky, but man did we have fun. Fortunately, no one ever got seriously hurt.

suck 'em up Phil
and if you use a leaf blower to blow the leaves into the open, no more raking.
I filled up both bags on my bagger to overflowing this morning, not just leaves but lots of pine needles.

followed up with Rubbermaid on garden shed, waiting for reply. If nothing today, going back to Home Depot and asking for refund.
no rain so far, my local K-8 is having a haunted house tonight, moved earlier to 4pm, hope they don't get washed out.
