Good evening all. 56F for the start, mostly clear, breezy. Very windy day, partly cloudy sky, high temp was 69F, DP 31F. Did 1 hour on the trainer. Got a good nap in then started sharpening another chain on saw.

good morning all.
Up too early but coffee is helping.
55 going up to 58 today in rain later and into tonight. I hope to get a little seat time sucking up leaves before it starts.

after leaves will be an inside day. Still trying to get credit/help from Rubbermaid/Home Depot and will spend time on the phone today.
Also have a lot of wash to do, remake beds, good inside stuff with the music cranked up.

Hope all that are ailing feel better and of course, TGIF.

Morning all! 32 going to a sunny 47.
Woke up at 3 am with a neck and back grumbling about the 5 hours of leaf clean up I did yesterday! Second cup of coffee going down while I contemplate today's list of things to do.
Going to put most of them off till Monday I think. Two days of rain in the forecast will help to keep me resting. Yard actually looked pretty good after I finished cleaning. I just have to wait for the dog wood and the oaks to drop and I will be done for the year. Will try to grab a pic later today.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Everyone gets to eat at my feeders.

a very nice community of birds Ron.

Phil, kick back and enjoy Fall. The snow will be here soon enough. I bet Bill already has had some.

Buppies seems to get "my weather" about 12-24 hours earlier than here so yes it's going to get wet here very soon.
Mower/bagger makes a fair amount of noise so not going to run it before 9am. We'll see if the rains come by then.
Weather patterns seem to go North and East, on about a 45 degree angle. I wonder if one put a protractor on a map with
Buppies home and my town, if it would be close to 45 degrees. (admittedly not so hot at trig)
I understand that weather goes from West to East due to Earth's rotation but South to North because ? heat rises? Gulf Stream?
All the big storms here other than Nor'Easters always have a Southern tail that seems to dip into the Gulf and scoop up water to
bring to us further North. I'm sure there's a better/scientific way of explaining that.
Tracking these weather patterns on radar is pretty interesting.

Originally got my interest up when going boating on Bays or in the Atlantic.
My job to bring everyone home alive and if I didn't watch the weather or listen to VHF weather channel,
all kinds of surprises can happen. Like afternoon storms on the Chesapeake in the heat of August that can be epic.
I once heard cries of help from a dozen sailboats that got knocked down in a whiteout storm outside of Annapolis.
I always tried to get in and tied up by 3pm. Lots of afternoon storms. And with global warming they are likely to get more
tropical, more intense, and much less fun to be out in. My Carver would get blown all over the place in high winds with only a three foot
draft and a flattish bottom. The Bertram was heavy and had a deep V hull, it just plowed through bad weather like a destroyer.
But I tried to avoid bad weather since if you scare your wife, it isn't likely to end well.

about a five hour drive west of PJ/St Louis is the excavated wreck of the steamship Arabia, which hit a big log/stump in the Missouri River and sank
almost immediately, thankfully not fully underwater so everyone got off. Except one mule I think...
Now that was interesting boating for sure. He hit a stump in fog with no charts, no radar, and no visibility.
I was an early adopter of electronic chart plotting on my boats, always had the best Garmin I could buy. Bent a lot of props over the years in the Chesapeake
even with good electronics. But then we were constantly going places, not sitting at dock.

A fall boat cruise on the Chesapeake with the leaf colors can be simply amazing. Toppop, find a covered warm boat and go for a ride.

Good Morning
49 going to 55 with 100% chance of rain later on.

Yesterday followed the plan, training went well, but took all day, but that was the way it was scheduled. Had to replace the battery in wife’s RAV4. They don’t last much more than 3 years, and die without any warning. Charging system checks ok perfectly, I’ve got no clue why the die. Worst part was that I couldn’t get to it until after 5 when my local battery distributor closes. She needed the car this morning, and I’m off to Vero Beach. So I got one at Advance Auto for $90 more than I would have paid. But it’s all done and wife is happy.

Plan for today is to get back from Florida before the wind and rain really picks up. If everything goes according to plan I’ll be back by about 2 which should work out pretty well.

I’m glad that I don’t have any pressing outdoor chores, as the ground is still saturated from all the rain earlier in the week.

30° right now...high in the mid-50's.
Right chilly morning...had to put my flannel PJ's on!!
Wifey needed coffee and a heating pad warmed up, so I did that

Got our bird feeder put up and partially assembled. Waiting for my stepdaughter's critique as far as where I out it up. Frankly, I'd rather put it where we can watch from the dining room table, but that would be in the path of my snow blowing (The chute is pointed away from the house). We'll come up with some kind of compromise...
Probably make a dump run this morning since the forecast is for rain tonight and tomorrow. This weekend would probably be a good time to winterize the mower, since it'll be too wet for outside work.
Lot of today's activities will also be dependent on any work (meaning, my job)

   / Good morning!!!! #140,454
Ron, I admit there were times when my wife and I were in South Florida, we bought lottery tickets and hoped that we could
sail away to out islands of Bahamas and never come back. Being on the water is magical.

Thomas, that's only because she loves you and wants you to stick around. All good.

   / Good morning!!!! #140,456
55 outside and raining. Mid 60's today and more rain. Listening to weather reports last night and you would have thought I should be building an arc. So far, looks and sounds like a nice steady rain.

Septic system is all on line. They did a nice job. Wife slipped some guys extras for lunch and work ethics. I just have one pile of trees and brush to move, my choice. Our driveway roundabout got new stone, and the front yard got regraded. Both sides of the driveways also got regraded up front. Total of 20 trucks brought fill and top soil in. Only one board on the front fence got whacked and all the keeper trees look like they may actually make it, no bark or excessive root damage from what I saw.

A years project looks done. Just too bad you cannot claim it as an equity improvement.

Looks like the weekend is here, so it is back to the other projects at hand.

Hope all have a great weekend. Be safe. And to those ailing, positive thoughts your way to get healthy.

59 and been raining all night...more today and about a 10 degree bump in temps.

RS, hope your wife is doing better....seems to be getting more complicated.

Ran some errands yesterday, then loaded a Beta version of coffee roasting software I was asked to try...so had to roast a couple more batches to test.

With the rain, I'll shift to my Indoors To Do list, and write new things on the Outdoors one.

Kyle, still have Doobie Bros songs in your head?

Glad to see the World Series tied up and how excited the fans in the stadiums are as they played in Houston and now in Atlanta.

Good Morning!!!! 62F @ 4:15AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High near 75F. Winds light and variable.
Another nice day, but it looks like it will be a damp weekend over on the coast. The Airheads are meeting at a KOA, and I just reserved one of their camper cabins. Very Spartan, but it'll be dry and warm inside, much more so than a tent.

How much use does the Rav4 get, Paul? Modern cars will drain a battery in as little as a week unless they're kept on a charger. And taking more than 20% out of a lead acid battery before recharging is a great way to kill it. Some of us have had good luck with the Battery Saver chargers. I probably have a half dozen of them by now. The bike I'm using this weekend has sat on one since the start of this year, and yesterday I started it for the first time in what, 10 months?. Fired right up, something of a surprise because normally I drain the gas if I know somethings gonna sit that long, but forgot to do it.

Congrats on completing that project, Mike. There always seems to be another one in line, but I hope you can take a minute and celebrate your accomplishment.

Got a call yesterday from a friend that will also be at the campout this weekend, riding a new to him BMW RT motorcycle like the one I have. His is red, the color I was looking for before I settled on a gray one. Half jokingly I suggested we trade paintwork, and he seemed open to the idea. So we'll talk more this weekend.

Only half the parts I'd ordered last week came in to the BMW dealer yesterday, further delaying the transmission rebuild. Oh well, it's not like I need that bike on the road anytime soon, but I'd sure like to get it off the lift.

Costco seemed to have plenty of toilet paper and towels yesterday. But the guy in the tire shop refused to rotate my tires, saying they're too old and out of warranty. Yeah, too old at 7 years, but only 30,000 miles, so the warranty is expired, and apparently so is Costco's free rotation policy. They'd rather sell me another set of tires, but now I'll shop elsewhere for them.

TGIF gang!🍻

"I just got bit by a dog and _______ is on his way to take me to the emergency room."

View attachment 718193

Fortunately, it doesn't appear to be all that serious ... and the ironic part of it is that it was by a "vicious" pug/terrier mix ... that probably didn't weigh but about 15 lbs ...

Moral of the story: People that have dogs that they can't, or won't control, shouldn't have dogs ...

Hope everyone is having a better day than we're having here.
rs, I hope your wife gets better soon, and that the bite doesn't get infected.
Same here, plus lots of home made pyrotechnics. My wife has often commented that she can’t believe I’ve got all my fingers and eyesight, and most of my hearing.
Texas only has fireworks for sell 2 times per year...before July 4th, and New Year's Eve. During the New Year's wintertime season, we would have bottle rocket and roman candle wars...Not too smart. But I'd wear heavy coat, and goggles. Sometimes I had wished I'd had my full face helmet on. OK, here's the hot ticket, take a can of sterno canned heat, light and place on tailgate, wave a full dozen bottle rockets over the sterno, quickly place them in the Christmas wrapping paper tube and aim. Instant MLRS system. (Do this at your own risk)....

Meyer lemon tree, survived the great Texas freeze of 2021 - outside.
I wonder if the porch's heat kept it alive?
My friend's old lemon tree, planted on SW side of his barn, only 10 miles inland from Matagorda bay, succumbed to February's super cold. :( It was huge, maybe 20' diameter and 15' tall. He had enough lemons to supply all his friends and family.
While looking for the thread that had the fish shocking post in it. I ran across this one. Near the end was post from Jinman about a visit to his and Kathy's place. I still get giggles from it.

Only in Texas, Don and Harv doing.
What a great thread. I need to go back and re-read it for fun. Good times.

PJS, sorry about your voice hitting the high notes is tough. Reminds me of The Eagles band, where the guitarist told Don Henley he was having trouble singing "take it to the limit" at the end. Henley and him had a huge argument over it, which led to him getting expelled from the band.

I've gotten behind on reading the posts, and it's hard to catch back up. Prayers for our team, and our country. Hope to work on sickle bar cutter today...if I can find my parts.
