Thanks, Buppies. What does your crystal ball say about the long range? It it keep up like this, I'm going to have to switch from motorcycles to building an ark!
Has there been enough run-off to raise the level of the lake?

49°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 79° today. Maybe I should have taken off work today ... this might be that last kayaking day I've been hoping for.

Wife had an interesting experience yesterday. While at a dog training client's home in our hometown, she saw a delivery driver leave a package on their front porch. A few moments later, she heard another noise, and turned to see a young kid trying to porch pirate the package. Kid tried to lie his way out of it, and the ensuing scolding ended in a discussion with the kid's grandmother across the street. The three small kids apparently live with her, while their (heroin addict) parents are living in the garage. The lady she was training said the kids don't even go to school. That area she used to be a pretty nice neighborhood. Apparently not anymore.

The floor looks great, David. Nice work.

Mostly_, there is indeed a 22° bend in the middle of the Chain Of Rocks Bridge. I can remember going across it when I was a youngster. That was a scary narrow bridge already, and that bend didn't help. It's been closed to traffic since the early 1970s, and was eventually reopened to foot and bicycle traffic in the 1990s as part of the Greenways project that's trying to complete a path from the Gateway Arch north to the bridge over to Illinois and then south to the park on the East St Louis side. It is pretty neat to ride across, with lots of Route 66 nostalgia to look at.

Welcome to the Good Morning thread, Rebecca.

I took some pics of the bridge from the St L side a few yrs ago. Neat bridge.

Thanks. Amazing what you have done with it.

Here’s the Costco flooring I did. This kind can get damp and wiped, but can’t be mopped due to the backing. Never got the hall baseboard & closet door done.

Very nice Dennis. I’ve still got some baseboard missing in our master suite.

Wife planted seed that maybe I should use my left over plank for baseboard rather than buying new, so as I mow, I contemplate. Think I might rip in half, router the edge, see how it is. I’m in the habit of using tile strips for baseboard in some areas.

Took a knee rest day. Just piddling around the yard I found freeze damage from February splitting the bark on the trunk of my only live oak tree. The foliage looks healthy and I'm going to see if it self heals. Has anyone else seen damage like this and does the tree survive?

Does your live oak tree shed huge volumes of tiny acorns, as mine does every year and is doing righ now?

May want a covid test. That is beyond the bear flu symptoms:
  • cough and sneezing
  • blocked or runny nose
  • sore throat
  • mild fevers
  • headache and feelings of lethargy
Mrs. said if no improvements by Friday AM going on trip downtown.

Good Afternoon.
Beautiful day here today clear skies and 75.

I left early this morning to go to my FAA check ride. We met the inspector in Wiles Barre, President Biden was coming at noon, which closes everything down. So I knew it wouldn’t be an all day affair. Went well and we were out of there with time to spare, but there were guys in black suits walking around the airport talking into their sleeves.

Filled the Prius up on the way home for $3.59 a gallon, glad it only took 8 gallons.
Got the speaker finished, it leaves this evening. Now I’m getting paged for dinner….

Yes it does, but it's not near the walks or driveway - yet.

Thomas, sounds serious...please consider a test before too long.

PJ, wonder why they needed to build the bridge like that? It looks cool, but strange.

Best I could diagnose, the problem with my water heater is the thermostat. I ordered one...decided to try the $18 fix even though the whole unit is getting old enough to replace.

Then changed the oil on the pressure washer, replaced an o ring, added some gas, and pulled about 6 times and it started right up. Hadn't used it in several years. Still had a leak where the pressure side hose connected...either the o-ring was the wrong size, or something else...but wasn't too bad of a leak. I got the new o-ring from my HF assortment box...seems like so many different sizes, but never seem to match what I'm looking for, exactly...and I have both metric and standard. I had decided to re-stain the cedar siding on the south side, and wanted to clean it first. The big 12-foot fiberglass step ladder had gained some weight since the last time I used it, too.

Thomas have you also lost your sense of smell? Sometimes a cold will decrease your sense of taste but with covid the sense of smell is also lost, in some cases. Symptoms vary.

61F and Fair @ 20:30, headed down to a low of 54F for the overnight.

Ground up some fry food and fed downstairs fish first thing.

After that refilled hopper feeder but it wasn't empty.

Then grabbed a couple of chains and was going to pull down the dead tree on the wes side (left side of the image below that is leaning):

Apparently disturbed this guy as I started to head towards it though:

At least a 10 point buck, possibly a 12 (or more) ... he was moving and it was hard to tell for sure:

IMG_1411 copy.jpg

So I headed back up to the house and dumped the chains and the bucket and went over to the pole barn and put the grapple on.

After I got back to the house I loaded up the dump cart with various implements and took a five gallon bucket around back and set up a chipmunk trap. When I came back around to the front set one up there as well.

Then we headed over neighbors to work on her project, got the one shed fully demolished.

Came away from that with some decent 2 x 4's, 2 x 6's, and 3/4" plywood.

Rest of the biodegradable stuff went to the trash piles in the back, just to get it out of the way. If it stays dry enough and I get a chance, I'll fish it out and haul over here and put it on the burn pile.

Hauled the aluminum siding and an old (small) chest freezer over here to the shop, those will go to the metal recycler on my next trip down there.

Also removed the last of junk out of the other shed and stripped all the siding off (it's not aluminum and will go in the trash over the next few weeks) Also snagged an aluminum-clad man door which appears to be in decent shape.

Took the grapple off and put the forks on and went over and collected the wood, the door, and some metal shelving and stuck it in the barn.

Woman noticed when we got back that all the sunflower seeds on the ramp up to the 5 gallon bucket out front were gone. Sure enough ... got a chipmunk ... (y) ... which caused her some angst ... ("... but they're so cute ! ..." ... yeah ... and they dig in your plants too ...)

At that point it was starting to get dark but I managed to get the grass cut and the leaves blown off around back on the east side.

And there were two chipmunks in the trap back there ... ;)

Rain due in around 11:00 tomorrow, hopefully I can get the rest down here around the house done before it gets here.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

You might check the jets' (all of them) hole size compared to stock.

I would guess that 3 powerful big block jet boats from the 70's and 80's to pull it out.

Sorry for your friend. Was it Covid related? My friend at work (who was on ventilator for weeks) is still wheelchair bound. His right leg is still mostly without feeling, but he says it sometimes feels like pins and needles. I'm praying that's a sign of recovering nerves maybe? He can now lock his knee, and walk a wee bit with a walker and 1 straight leg.

We are going to my wife's aunt's funeral this Saturday.

I have a bit of work, just barely enough to keep me busy. Praying some more work comes our way. The engineering teams have been writing proposals for weeks and weeks.

David, floor looks good. Hope Sophie's eye gets better.

Buppies, both nostrils open is good. :) Thomas, hope you get better too. Maybe those bears brought y'all the sniffles.

Prayers for our team, and our country.

It was not Covid related, apparently a heart attack.

Got the golf cart running well, the new coil and second new fuel pump did the trick, just have to change the oil now. My grandson has been chomping at the bit to drive it, I guess he can now.
Picked up the luann and flooring today, guy is supposed to be here at 8 AM to start the job.
One of our car clubs had a dinner meeting tonight, other clubs meeting is next week.
48-74 today, 53 now. Warmer the next couple of days.

All you folks with illnesses, may the Lord bless you with healing.

Have a good night folks.
