53 and clear, going to 75...another fine day. Had windows open all day yesterday and it was 64 in our bedroom when I went to bed.

Kyle, a trip to the zoo sounds like a nice birthday.

Congrats on your class completion, Popgadget.

BEF, you should have turned right at that A/T sign...only a few months and you could have been at Katahdin. 😁Nice photos.

Middle son and new wife came to visit Friday, and yesterday we had her parents visit, too...first time doing a get together...had a good time talking and playing Mexican Train. My wife made enchiladas, using the Costco rotisserie chicken pieces you talk about, RNG.

I'm not used to staying up so late...and now two nights in a row. Maybe a nap could be had after company leaves this afternoon.

Drew cool old house, was that your grandfathers house?

It really was a neat house, my grandfather's when he bought the farm in 1939, when he passed my Uncle retired from Navy and
it became his house. He passed and for several years before I remarried it was mine. Not a big house, but huge living room with two story ceiling, 20 foot wide stone fireplace
going up at least 15 feet. Painting of my grandfather hung over the mantle and smaller paintings of his two sons, both in military uniforms, on both sides.
My favorite part was small downstairs bathroom which was done all in green travertine. I think house was built in 1920's versus farm's main house where I grew up was
1720.

We were land rich and cash poor growing up. Like many I'm sure.
Despite my grandfather owning a small Ford dealership in West Orange NJ at one time, we never had any nice tools
to work with, primarily because my father had zero mechanical ability. We always used to say an adjustable wrench would stump him.
His love was gardening, not machines.
Now I have plenty of tools and not enough talent to use them all.

54° right now...high in the mid-60's today and pretty sunny

Chipper's stowed for the winter and the blade was rigged to the loader. Probably should have rigged the snow blower too, while I was at it, but I think we have a few more weeks before that has to happen.
Got the water filters yesterday, so I'll changer that today.
Only other chore is rake the acorns on the lawn out front. Guy at work want's 'em since deer love acorns. He hunts, I don't so he's welcome to them. If I get more then a bushel, I'll take some down on the field. I don't hunt, but I do like watching deer, amongst other wildlife.

Margeaux's doing great. She and I spend some time out back (fenced in yard) while wifey and stepdaughter went shopping. When we came back in, a bit of TV. Margeaux is a very loving pup as she really loves to cuddle up...not a licker though...

Good Morning.
It’s 50 and another beautiful day with a high around 70.
Yesterday was a perfect day for wife’s farm open house.
First day was well attended, I forgot to take a picture while it was going on, but here is one of it shuttered for the evening.

I got to take the drone out and take some pictures for a neighbor that mowed a peace sign into his back field.

A good night’s sleep in my own bed was a great end of day bonus.

Today my band mates are coming up to get together minus the keyboard player, he is taking care of his ailing brother in MD. I’m sure that we will play some music and tell some stories and eat some food. Might even provide some entertainment to the open house guests through the open windows.

Drew, you can never have too many tools, I’m proof of that.

Paul, thanks for the peace sign pic. That's a beautiful property and with all the small planes in this area, his message will
be seen by at least some.
Of course you could always use it as running bases for a strange game of baseball.

Good Morning!!!! 65/f @ 4:30AM. Sunny. High 86F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
No rain in the 10-day, but at least it's cooling off some and staying in the 80s for most of next week.

Some of those plants look like they came right out of Star Trek, RS. Be careful... 😄

Done the same to myself, David, with a Chinese knock off pop rivet tool, especially when using stainless steel rivets. Finally broke down and bought a nice one from McMaster-Carr, no further problems. Looks like Paul has the ultimate solution, but I wonder why it's not Makita blue? o_O

Is it mating season for the cranes, Ron?

Shiner Oktoberfest is a little hoppier than the regular stuff, Kyle. Some like it that way, I do not.

The latest MedCram video goes into vaccine effectiveness by maker, Randy. Moderna wins.

I haven't been driving the van because of the oil leak on the transaxle, so yesterday morning I decided to tackle the problem. The banjo fitting for the breather on the front differential was already there, so all I had to do was run a plastic line to it, using a short piece of silicon tubing and some hose clamps to make the connection. I couldn't reach the threaded hole where the banjo fitting is installed on the transaxle, though. But by supporting the front of the transaxle with a jack, then removing two nuts, I was able to drop it a couple of inches, more than enough to install the banjo and run the line. Didn't even have to disconnect the drive shaft, or mess with the rear engine mounts. Whew!

Drove it into town, picked up the plates for the electrical boxes, dropped by Costco where they were out of TP but had plenty of Bounty. Came home and counted more than three dozen rolls of TP on the shelf, so I'll be OK for a little while. Felt like I was the only one wearing a mask most of the time in town, even though hospitalizations for CV19 continue to climb. No more oil leaks on the van when I got home. 👍 Hope it stays that way.🤞

Got one more LED mounted on the house, and now need to update the switch that controls it to a smart switch. Needed to do it anyway, as the switch is hidden behind a bookcase in a somewhat crowded office.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

peace signs and American flags, sure do get the hair up on some necks.
I think the fact we can/do/are allowed to fly peace signs is a testimony to the power
of a free society. And maybe even a little common sense since war is super costly in all ways.

I've always flown a US flag. House would feel naked without it. But we never did on the farm growing up.
I think I learned during the Vietnam War what the flag meant, both good and bad, was in college and really had to think
these things through. When there was a lot of noise going on. Parents always drummed into us kids importance of being good citizens,
to volunteer in community, to set an example. Pretty lucky to have parents like that. Both my father and my uncle got shot at during WWII, nothing
too close but the danger was there. I think I would disrespect their effort if I didn't fly the flag.
not meant to be political, pretty sure most of us like flags.
