BEF, you should have turned right at that A/T sign...only a few months and you could have been at Katahdin. Nice photos.

.

If only I could.

I have backpacked starting there and going north. Took wife on back roads up near the trail. That was the trip I first realized I had afib. There is a 1200 ft climb that I had a hard time climbing the 2nd day. Very nice view at top of that climb also, but you gotta hike up to see it.

Also started a 10 mile hike from there going south. Hiked up to high rock, only it was covered in snow on that hike.

Buppies, I watch every video on the history channel online I can.
History is to learn from. But we don't seem to be very smart.
Our European history is just one war after another. Tribal wars in Africa and
the Middle East constantly decimate each other.
We really haven't learned how to live together very efficiently.

When do countries grow a moral conscience? Not soon enough. Nationalism and greed often overwhelm conscience.
I get reminded of this every time I go to church and see the historical marker
for the Walking Purchase on our property. Glorifying the screwing of the local Indians, the Leni Lenapes,
in our area the Turtle Clan. One of the reasons I am always careful to pick the turtles up off the local roads.
Perhaps doing white man's penance for their spiritual ancestors.

Kudos, Drew!!
I do the same...just not for the same reason...

Good morning! 41 now! 71 later. Lots of sunshine now. Hope it stays that way.

My wife’s “ favorite” Craftsman garden tractor has developed more interesting issues. It is far from my favorite. The other one is vastly more reliable. Been chasing an intermittent no charge problem. Then the blade clutch switch detent failed. That is an easy repair…had a spare switch. Nope, now it won’t charge and the clutch won’t engage. She has been using the other one with no problems.

So yesterday I started trying to figure out what was wrong, the VOM showed good continuity. After too much time checking things, I moved the wire harness at the blade switch and the clutch engaged. But was intermittent. Removed the terminals multiple times and never found anything wrong. Suddenly it started to work and started to charge.

Ended up doing the mowing that requires the garden tractor and it worked fine the whole time. I dunno, but I am convinced it isn’t fixed.

Also greased the New Holland before mowing. Since I greased it last, seem the nose roller on the deck has gone MIA. So need to go see the local NH dealer.

Finished the day by making a bracket for the caliper for the Bultaco restoration. Now to make the torque rod for the caliper.

I booked a shipper for the bike I won. Wasn’t the cheapest but great reviews and excellent communication until I booked the shipment. Then silence. Have tried contacting him…nothing. The guy who raffled the bike has heard nothing either. Still in the window of when he said he would pick it up, but this isn’t giving me a good feeling. Got a feeling I am going to make a banzai trip to Florida next weekend.

Not sure what I will get into today. Hopefully it doesn’t involve fixing lawn care equipment!

Everyone stay safe out there

I bought an FJ40 new in 1972. It was a great machine. I always wanted to get another and put a small block Chevy in it.

They had an almost dead knockoff of a Chevy Stovebolt in them and would run forever, and that’s how long it took to get there. LOL

Could it be oxide buildup in the terminals, Rich? DeOxIt to the rescue!

Could also be a broken wire inside the insulation so it doesn't show. You're right on track with wiggling wires to find the one, or ones, that are bad.

I've had similar experiences with shippers not being very communicative. And showing up much later than they promised. Hope the guy gets his act together and saves you some gas money and time.

71°F snd .54 inches rain.

Need a mental break from project. Watch a bit of football and work on getting a parking area in tractorshed for my Mule. They available stall has had construction material in it, notable the pallet of Sheetrock. Only cutoffs left and the pallet became a catch all. Guess I may get Mule maybe Wednesday as dealer is closed today and Monday.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon. A sharp shower has brought me inside and persuaded me to put away the concrete breaker for today. Not that I needed much persuading, except I promised my wife I would finish removing the last part of the old concrete cattle yard at the front of the house before she can transform the area into a garden. It is taking much longer than I anticipated, the deal was I won't go and "play" in the ponds until I have it finished and for once she is holding me to that promise.

Kyle, hope Finnly has a great birthday at the zoo. How about playing some Julie Felix in anticipation of the day out ? going to the zoo

David, what are the rules for driving mules around your area?

Good afternoon! Been doing projects slow but steady. Not really much change to the knee, the swelling, pain, and weakness keeps me in check not to overdo it.

Finally got all the tractor maintenance done. I was surprised how dark the hydraulic fluid was once it was in a container. It was the original break-in oil, so not sure if it was that color to begin with. Worst part is that the loader and BH have to be greased again!

The weather finally broke after the persistent heat wave we were having. Temps finally started moderating to "normal" highs in the 70's. Nights are comfortable (actually chilly) in the mid / upper 40's. No rain for the last few weeks, so everything turning brown again.

Why is it that a small project always morphs into a much larger project?
I / we decided that the stump from the tree that came down a couple of weeks ago needed to be dug out..... well, after digging out the stump, the decision was made to widen the driveway in that area, and also to make a new parking area for the RV. Of course that will involve making landscape beds, running drip irrigation lines, mulch, and a lot of work! It will consolidate the RV, utility trailer, and probably my truck. Here's a few pics....

You can see the pile of gravel in the last pic.... WOOHOO! .... gravel..that little bit won't take care of the gravel addiction, so maybe another pile is order!😵🤪

Took off the BH so I can put on the PHD. We are going to put in a couple of accent post and rail fence at the corners (that what is laying on the ground). I must have moved those pieces ten times while the wifey was 'designing' the shape / size of the beds. Gotta keep her happy! I'll post some after pics when it is done (might be a week or two at the pace that I'm moving these days!).

You guys have sure been busy.... too much to comment on.... I am glad to NOT hear of any major incidents or problems.

I hope everyone has a quiet evening and a great start to the week!

Not sure. Have seen them on our road. I will be using 99% just on our acreage with occasional jaunt to a neighbor. Not interest in off roading per se.

I have to admit, I had never heard Julie sing "going to the zoo". I saw where Peter Paul and Mary covered it too, but my older siblings were not big fans of theirs. Most of the rest of the "British invasion" but alas, maybe not Julie.....

Finnly did have a great day. I am surprised you were able to spell her name correctly (thank you for that).....even I have to double think before I write it....I remember by thinking of the Mighty Quinn song (2 "nn's").

Actually, I queued up this as I went into the gorilla exhibit....

Here she is checking out the flamingos. She loves flamingos.
