Back when BMW first came out with the K-bikes, they created huge divisions in the BMW motorcycle community as people jumped on what was supposed to be the next greatest thing. Not long after that, the Airheads club formed to give the old timers a place to gather. And every once in a while, some new folks step up to serving on the board, and get concerned about finances and start talking about dues increases and allowing a broader variety of folks as members. Long time members quit, tempers flare, and the budget gets tighter than ever. Then the old timers reclaim the board, put things back the way they started out, and membership numbers recover. Looks like we're starting a new cycle now. People who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
You do know I was just joshing about the urals....all 2 of them. Hahaha OTOH, their owners might just be as eclectic as anyone you'd meet.
When I went "window shopping" one day in 1990 at BMW Motorrad in St. Louis, they had a new '90 K100LT and an '89 R100RT that had about 10k miles on it. Salesman - also named Paul - told me the guy who owned it used to ride to Columbia MO to see his kid at Mizzou. He came back in after a year and traded it for a K100LT. So, I took both for a test ride. Not gonna lie; that K100LT was a sweet ride. However, the R100RT blew it away in balance. The lower center of gravity of the boxer engine made a huge difference in how it handled. I picked up the R100RT the next day. Wife dropped me off on the way to work, and I rode it to work. I put 75k miles on that thing over the next two years. Rode the dickens out of it.

Good evening all. 73F for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. Light wind day, afternoon buildups not heavy, and high temp was 94F, HI 103F and DP 68F. Did not do much today, spent day with wife, 44 anniversary today.
Happy belated anniversary to you and the wifey. I hope the Chinese was good, and didn't give too much kung pow later on....and thank you for the prayers, my elbow/shoulder are doing much better.

Funny story about those. When I worked for St. Louis Music, one of our brands was Crate. We made a bunch of different PA equipment under that brand, including several box mixers (I still have a couple somewhere in storage). Towards the end of times there, we started having a few different Chinese companies making some of the smaller stuff, including the powered (box) mixers. One company that made a bunch of stuff for us was Phonic. I once walked into a (long defunct US chain) Mars Music store in St Louis County and saw a display on a shelf with three "different" box mixers; one said Crate, one said Phonic, and one said Yamaha. They were all exactly the same mixer, differing only by the color of the powder coat on the chassis and the graphics on the front. They were all three made by Phonic, and sold under different names.
Not a bad mixer, as I recall.
PJ, I'm in the market for a mixer (for the church youth group), and I see these same boxes all over. They may be decent, as they seem to last a long while. Yamaha is pretty much sold out of everything stateside. Low on music equipment, instruments, motorcycles, and outboards. Hope they make it through this epidemic.
I heard there are 50 or more container ships floating offshore California, due to not enough: longshoremen, truck drivers, available rail.
My good friend that got off the ventilator is recuperating, but he is getting blood transfusions due to low hemoglobin. His wife is able to stay with him. I have never given blood, but I feel that's the least I could do to help. Will look into it Tuesday.
I got some mowing done Friday morning, worked on BIL's car yesterday morning. Too hot to be outside IMO during the afternoon.

Eric, sorry about your old bike going away. I had a Dawes, English made bike for years, that was about an 1" too tall for me. Gave it back to it's original owner after about 30 years of having it. It needed a full reconditioning.
I still have more to catch up on.
