speaking of hummers my little guy is hard at work gulping down the good stuff bright and early.
He then flies over to check out some red hollyhock and four o'clock flowers and then back to his normal spot on
the feeder. I made this batch yesterday and until it rains or the ants get in, nice to see they like it.

daugen said, "Way back in the day, long before computers, I was the a/v "tech" in high school and got to run
the movie projector. Keeping in mind our entire grade was only 53 kids. Had to thread the tape and the whole thing, learn how to splice broken tape."

I don't recall, or remember, just how old you are, but this reminds me that there were 58 of us in the 1958 graduating class in my high school.

I was nine years later Bird, class of '67. Just in time to go off to college when the
world seemed to be going crazy over Vietnam and free love. And sadly I never got any of the latter... :sneaky:
Of course I came home with no diseases and my brain intact so I guess I was ahead of the game.

71° and sunny. .12” rain yesterday into early this morning.
Woke up around 3am and was awake several hours, probably fell asleep again as most of the early birds here were getting their coffee going.
Wife woke me to help give cat it’s meds.
Will mow when it dries up, probably afternoon. Got church family coming over this evening, gonna grill some burgers.
Probably should get caught up on bill paying, then maybe sharpen mower blades.

Happy Labor Day.

Good afternoon, thought I would catch up on here while having a sit down to give my finger chance to stop throbbing after getting a splinter down the back of my finger nail. Fortunately there was enough wood left poking out to be able to grip it with pliers. Best of all, my wife says I am now excused jobs for the rest of the day :)

I had a Dawes, English made bike for years, that was about an 1" too tall for me
Dawes bikes have always been highly regarded amongst those who go cycle camping, their touring range could be loaded up with lots of equipment while still giving a good ride. The Dawes brand still lives on, though I understand production moved to the far east some years ago and nowadays they are more likely to be paired with an electric motor.

Good morning! 78˚F heading to the mid 90s, cloudy. September is starting out to be a hotter month than August. Back yard Tempest was 99 yesterday and Ranger showed 101. These temps will continue. A front trickled in yesterday evening from the North (thanks Ron) cutting Whippper's walk short when it started to rain .72".

Whipper was feeling bad again yesterday and Saturday but is eating today, probably another vet visit tomorrow unless she continues to improve. The vet wants to do a MRI to see if it is liver cancer, her bloodwork does not rule that out.

A rattlesnake was spotted in the gardens, a reminder to watch where you pick. Another picking of Okra today should be enough to make a pan of baked breaded okra. Cards yesterday won 4 of 5. Cards again this evening for the quarterly rankings.

Covid cases continue to be high. School kids mostly with large weekend soccer tournaments that they and the parents cannot miss.

My anti-vac friends have recovered after a grueling 3 weeks of covid misery and are examples of how cow ivermectin does not work on covid.

Good morning to all! Low of 52, going up to mid to upper 80's. Rain chances have moved on to greener pastures...... not really any good chances until later in the week.

There was an ominous cloud forming over us on Saturday, thought we were going to get a good storm.... nope, went south without leaving a drop behind!

Mostly, HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY! Hope you have many more!

PJ, enjoy your time off! Sounds like the kayaks are going to get a workout.

Drew, don't push too hard, it will get done. Being hunched over takes it's toll...

Roy, hope the ramp works well for the pooch!

Wng, that was surely a nice hike! Beautiful area and view!

I have just been piddling around with little things, got the materials stockpiles relocated and organized, some tweaks to the drip irrigation system, mowed the fields......all at a leisurely pace.

The appt. with the ortho doc went ok. Everything looks in good alignment and ROM is slowly getting better. He stated the swelling and pain is normal and may continue for another 6 months or so..... He did classify the knee as "reaching maximum medical improvement", so now he is going to calculate the matrix to calculate the limitations / restrictions that will be imposed.

I hope that I may get motivated enough to do the 250 hr maintenance on the tractor today. It's now 'overdue' by 15 hours. It needs to get done before any gravel arrives....

Apparently, the normal 'sale on mulch' isn't going to happen this year.... Since the cost of things are going up, not really surprised. Guess if we want to get it, it will cost an extra $100.... not really that bad, but we all like to save a buck....

Everyone have a great Labor Day!

Morning all, nice and sunny after rains last night.
We left Princeton after dinner at a Ramen place, rain started as we drove home, so great timing.

Too wet for grass mowing today, maybe tomorrow.
Drew - no grapple-clamp on forks, slide under round and drive away. Still need to move round to splitter in vertical mode, but at least don't need to lift them. Amazed how this little 25 ton splitter runs right through the rounds, biggest was 34 x 28 ".

Might be a day to shop for a back brace for round rolling

Have a happy labor day !

Getting a little help trimming the roses.
