Good morning!!!!

Church was good, my friend the worship leader took over for the pastor being off. He gave a great message

Didn't do a lot yesterday because of the heat. Still had BIL/SIL visitors. Took daughter to her job, then picked her up. She had drank a strong coffee just before getting off work, so she was raring to do some work when we got home. She ended up mowing the place with her new ear buds in.

I could see a storm way off in Don's direction, but don't know if he got any. It may have been in between us. We didn't get any last night.

I have seen hummingbirds here already. Nice pic Ron.

My other great friend with Covid (one at work, and this one in my hometown), had O2 level as low as 86, last night at 88. The nurse at the ER didn't want to admit him when it was 89, so I don't know what the heck is going on down there. He's really suffering, with zero energy, his head starts convulsing when he gets up. He's supposed to go back to ER today. I told him to go to another hospital if they don't give him anything other than stupid antibiotics. Antibiotics don't treat viruses....and they can mess you up themselves. My doctor said to seek medical attention when O2 gets down to 90.

Watched the Springfield Short track Flattrack races. Pretty exciting, and few bonehead pass attempts. I saw where the authorities corrected the first race's initial results due to one boneheaded pass on the last lap. They reverted the results at the finish to the previous lap. The first place rider that had gotten knocked down got reinstated back to first. One rider said "it was like fist fighting in a phone booth".

Springfield Mile races are live right now, being delayed from rain this weekend.

Good afternoon, thought I would catch up on here while having a sit down to give my finger chance to stop throbbing after getting a splinter down the back of my finger nail. Fortunately there was enough wood left poking out to be able to grip it with pliers. Best of all, my wife says I am now excused jobs for the rest of the day :)
It hurts to even think about that kind of splinter, Eric. Hope it gets well soon.

Woke up at 1.00 a.m. with fingers bent. Very painful trying to straighten them. Got up and had a cuppa. Pain is easing a bit. I had a Endone before I went to bed but it didn't help obviously. Dr is writing to the specialist so hopefully something comes of it before too long.
No new cases in Queensland and last outbreak has about 1000 families in quarrantine to prevent any community transmissions. Most are proving negative so it's a good sign. Our Premier has been doing a great job but other States want Qld to open the border. Last thing I want as that will flood Qld with covid from other States. Lockdowns would result.
Groundwork is supposed to begin for my shed this week. Can't happen soon enough.
Yesterday I bought oil and Hydro filters for my Tractor. Came to over $350. Now to find time to do the work. Also Mustang is due for a oil and filter based on time, not mileage. Only has 6500 klm up. Fitted clip-on mudflaps the other day. Stops stones flying up the sides.
Ranger going for its' first free 'piece of mind' service in the morning. Only has 2500 klm up.
Need a project manager at the moment. So much to think about and do it is hard to keep up.
Only good thing about getting up at 1.00 a.m. is I have 3 loving little dogs for company and I get to catch up on this forum.
Our Electrician came the other day and I gave him a list of jobs to do.
Property pole needs replacement and a trench and new power cable to the house as the original wiring is too light.
Then a new power cable to where the shed is going. New wiring through the house as well. Also new switch plates and repositioning etc.
Meter box and house distribution boxes also need upgraded.
Lesley is pushing the Kitchen place to start things moving and needs to decide which granite she is getting.
Plumber due in less than 2 weeks now to re-plumb the house.
Lesley is also ringing painters for quotes.
As I said, we need a project manager...

Eric, I shudder when I think of your finger. eeeek.

daugen said, "Way back in the day, long before computers, I was the a/v "tech" in high school and got to run
the movie projector. Keeping in mind our entire grade was only 53 kids. Had to thread the tape and the whole thing, learn how to splice broken tape."

I don't recall, or remember, just how old you are, but this reminds me that there were 58 of us in the 1958 graduating class in my high school.

Must have been crowded, Bird. Only 36 in my 1964 class in Maine.

Here’s the storage cabinet I mentioned earlier. They are pricy, I bought this one for $300 used, which I thought was a lot at that time. Later I came to realize what a good deal that was. I can’t overstate how much it can hold, and how accessible everything in it is.

Happy Labor Day !

76F and partly cloudy @ 13:30, heading up to 77F for the high. Only a 1% chance of precipitation for the day ... lol. Winds WNW @ 10 to 15 mph , even windier tomorrow.

In light of that, may try to get some spraying done over around the pole barn, where there isn't much to worry about as far drift getting on desirable stuff.

Think I'm going to primarily plant the slopes over there in wildflowers. That should work with the poorer soil (won't require amendments), hopefully will reduce erosion, and will lessen the amount of mowing that needs to be done.

Beyond the spraying, I have a partial bucket of screened compost on the loader currently that I will dump around the east planting bed for the Stella D'Oro's. Probably will require another bucket or two to finish it off so I'll go ahead and grab those while I'm at it.

May mark out the spots to be drilled with the auger for the forsythia hedge.

Lower front needs mowed again.

24 Hour Average Soil Temp is down to 68.4F.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day ... (y)

Good Morning!!!! 92F @ 10:45 AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High around 100F. Winds light and variable.
This just might turn into an inside day at this rate.

All those lovely bins, Paul! Even in the doors. You did get a steal.

I think there were something like 1200 in my high school graduating class back in '74.😲

That's about what I paid, maybe a little less, for the last oil and filter change on the Kubota tractor here, Doug. Seems like a lot of money until you look at the work it's done, and what it would cost if I had to hire it out. Good luck tracking your projects.

This month's issue of the AMA magazine features flat track racing, Kyle.👍 Last month is was the movie On Any Sunday. Had to watch it again, and it just keeps getting better.

OUCH! Eric.

grizzlyDoneHauling.jpg

Pretty much finished the grizzly yesterday, and it was time to take it for a spin. I was a little concerned that it wouldn't balance steadily enough on the bucket to stay in place, but that wasn't a problem at all. It's not even heavy enough to unweight the back wheels, either.

The first few buckets I ran through it got dumped from the tall side, which demonstrated that I should have checked the wind direction before I set it in place. I came out looking like a brown version of the Pillsbury dough boy. But it worked pretty much as planned, and I got about a 60/40 ratio of rocks to dirt, pretty much what I expected. To get out of the dust when the neighbor came by to see it, I loaded it from the other side. I saw that big rock go into the bucket and was ready for it, but it still hit the front guard on the tractor when it slid down the screen. Which is why in the future I'll make the time to position the high side up wind.

I don't have any excuses for not closing up the trenches now, except it's already 92F outside and since it's Labor Day, and my back is pretty sore from yesterday, I'm thinkin' some R&R might be a better use of the day.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Removed the pallets forks and rigged the bucket to the loader. The forks are on the lawn, going to have to get a decent pallet from work (most likely) as the pallet it (the forks) was shipped on was pretty busted up...also, not wide enough for the assembled frame and forks.
Couple heavy showers just passed through...neither of them lasted more then 5-6 minutes though

Margeaux' s getting much better at letting us know when she needs to go out to do her business. Not 100% yet though...

Good Morning.
It’s 69 and supposed to go to high 70’s with clear skies today.

Yesterday it dis spit rain occasionally throughout the day, but no accumulation. Spent the day in the shop, the task at hand was to go though the buckets and boxes of accumulated hardware, you know the stuff that was too good to throw away, but never put in a proper place. Well I sorted through each container and either put each piece where it “belonged” or threw it out. I figured if it hadn’t been missed in the last 30 years, I likely wouldn’t need it in the next 30, and by then I’ll be 100 years old anyway.

One of the best purchases that I have ever made was a storage cabinet that holds removable bins. It is absolutely astounding how much stuff it can hold and keep organized. Plus the bins are removable, letting you take them to where you are working. It’s like having a complete hardware store in a phone booth. I will add a picture later when I meander over to the shop.

In between trips from the sorting table to various locations, I made a few more baffles for the isolation cabinet to use different size speakers, and managed to have lunch with a friend.
