Good morning! Very pleasant 60 now. Supposed to get to 77 later.

Like Ron, I like my corn in the husk on the grill. Soaking in a bucket of water for several hours before grilling. I do the corn on the upper rack which really cuts down on charred husks. Try putting a chunk of real butter on the husk when you first put the corn on the grill.

More mowing today. Got some done last evening. Need to go get some diesel this morning. The NH is gonna need a drink. Probably should get some gas too.

Not sure what else we will get into today. Tonight we go out for some dinner and music.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Good Morning!!!! 68F @ 5:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High near 95F. Winds light and variable.

I was up early, Billy. Something to do with the kidney beans in the last batch of chili not agreeing with me. I'm planning on a siesta after lunch today. Good to read you're well on your way to a full recovery.

Like Lou, I'm a fan of OpenOffice, too. Numbers on the Mac is pretty limited by comparison, not very intuitive, and poorly documented. It won't handle very large data sets, either.

Welcome to GM, Williy & fiddlearound!

StayCation, Paul?

Got all the grizzly bars tacked into place yesterday, than ran into problems with the fillet welds that will hold them in place. I'd switched up to 0.030" wire from 0.025", but the little 180 amp PowerMIG just didn't have the beans on the 1/2" thick bars. Switching back to the 0.025" took care of the ropy beads. Was making good progress until the sun dropped over my shoulder and I couldn't see through the reflection in the helmet lens. It was late and hot enough by then I didn't feel bad saving the rest for today.

Missed a call from the salesman at the solar power place, and as usual, he didn't pick up when I returned the call, and didn't call back, either. I haven't been able to reach him since last April, so no surprise there.

Pretty amazing how much smoke there is in the air headed north from here. And fires and road construction make the trip over to the coast from here a lengthy proposition, so that trip isn't looking to likely unless conditions change. The Sequoia weekend has been moved to a place called Song Dog Ranch, about 400 miles south of here. Not a very enjoyable ride, but the air will be clean and I'll be in good company when I get there.

Hope everyone enjoys a great weekend!

Good Morning.
It’s 58 with a high in the mid 70’s and another day with low humidity and clear skies. This is my idea of perfect weather.

Yesterday, I finished up the welding area in the shop, drilled and tapped a leg of the welding table and connected a ground wire and another lead with a ground clamp to it. Then cleaned the surface with a belt sander with a 36 grit belt. About the time I was finished a friend stopped by to see what was up for lunch. We flew the little plane over to Pittstown, NJ to a little airport with a restaurant and had a good lunch. We flew down the Delaware to look at the flooding in Lambertville and Frenchtown, the PA side was not as bad. It was easy to see where the water was by the mud it left behind.
After I got back my daughter stopped by to change the oil in her RAV4, she does a lot of her own maintenance, which she said surprises her co-workers (she’s an ER nurse).
I put some frozen meatballs and a jar of sauce in the crockpot, and after a bit more puttering around the band minus the keyboard player sowed up for a rehearsal and BS session. The outcome of that is that today I’m going to build an isolation cabinet for recording a guitar amplifier. I’ve got a plan worked out using a surplus cable trunk and will have interchangeable baffles for different size speakers.

Other than that project, I’m not sure what today will bring.

My neighbor used to make one pass with sweet corn in the planter when they planted the field next to me, as well as one at their side of the field. I would often pick it and shuck and eat an ear raw while walking back. I’m definitely of the opinion that corn goes downhill from the minute you pick it. Once we started microwaving it in the husk, there’s no going going back to boiling water unless you’re cooking for a large group like a picnic or party.

I have always wanted, but have never hiked old rag. Beautiful day for a hike.
You must be recovered well to hike it, I’ve heard it’s not the easiest.
Last time I hiked it (probably over a decade ago) there were 2 ways up. The short way, which involved some "chimneying" and rack scambering. The long way which was a moderate climb like a steep city street at the worst.
/edit - Here is a good link:
Old Rag

Apparently they have opened several more parking lots. A mid-fall day would be an excellent hike. At least it was back in the '80's.
The last time I went up parking was horrendous. But like I wrote that was over 10 years ago.

well this king is pretty sore after two hours of bending over, turns out my job was grouting, so I grouted flagstone for two hours while two other guys
laid the stones. Glad I took some good gloves with me and my padded kneeler. Did 1 big bucket of grout and that was enough. 4 parts sand to one part
cement, water to flavor...

very pretty day out
