So how long do you cook corn cobs for? I do them for 10 - 15 minutes. Is that too long?

Never cooked corn cobs before. You do anything special like seasoning?

I have cooked corn on the cob before and it has depended on method, maybe 15 minutes if grilling, but less if steaming or in microwave. I prefer a bit under rather than over done.

I said cooking in the hope that there may have been some ideas/options but I just boil them. I have never eaten it raw. No seasoning, just straight off the cob.

Productive day.
Honda dealer didn’t get Ridgeline finished until 11, from 8 AM appointment. Sophie a bit irritated, as she could see it sitting on the lot. Manager may have erred abit asking her about 10 how the appointment was going.
I got some electrical fixtures installed, but had to split my attention with the potential caretaker. Mowed for about 4 hours on the Scag. First time on a Z turn. Of course, I had to keep checking, especially if I heard engine stop, but all was well. This could work out nicely.

Very nice dinner at local restaurant hadn’t been to in more than 6 years. Had been a mainstay of our Happy Hour group until they unapologetically screwed us over and the owner refused to acknowledge, let alone apologize or make it right. So they lost what had been a $200 minimum per visit. Today’s order got messed up by mistake and the waiter went above and beyond to make it right. He got tipped well. Too bad the “fix” isn’t on the menu as I’d get again.

I’d have to say my current favorite for nice fresh corn is to microwave right in the husk. Google it. Just cut off the stem end and when cook will just slide out with practically no silk. Less mess than husking and easier. If I grill in the husks I usually have an abundance of charred husks flying around.

If doing already husked corn, like frozen, I will sometime season with garlic butter, roll in wax paper and microwave. Last time I did butter with chili powder, garlic salt, pepper. Same type grills good too.

I haven’t boiled corn in years, preferring to steam it. i have read that adding milk/butter to the water when boiling has a flavorful effect.

Thanks for that. We usually buy it on a sealed tray of 3 with clear plastic over the top. They partially remove the husk so you can see what you are buying. They suggest ways on the pack if you look close. I have only ever boiled it.

likely I may have to take laptop into school next week and let their IT guy set it up for me.

55° right now...high in the mid-70's...

Margeaux' s vet visit went quite well. A couple inoculations required and we're going to have to watch that bad leg. Ultimately, the leg may have to be amputated, but I hope not.

Most chores done today. Forks frame is mounted on the loader but need to get the tines on the frame. They're not that heavy, but with a few herniated disks in my spine, I really need to watch what I lift.

Just got home (about an hour ago) from White River Junction. My stepdaughter hit some debris in the road while returning from a concert in NH. Two flats and, probably, two wheels destroyed. I'm not faulting her though...

Chores today: get those tines mounted on the frame (once they're on, doubt I'll ever need to remove them), then remount the bucket. I'll get a couple pallets from work to store these loader mounted attachments on for the winter.
Then finish the doggie ramp and start training Margeaux how to use it
Mowed most of the lawn, but got pretty chilly in the late afternoon, so need to finish a bit...maybe some weed trimming after that. Sometime today, I'll have to take stepdaughter to pick up a loaner or rental car until the Subaru dealer squares her car away...

I was raised in corn country, but my mom over cooked everything, including corn on the cob. I like it just heated through, in the husk, in the microwave so it's steaming when you husk it. Otherwise, just a minute or two in boiling water, and don't put so many cobs in at once that the water stops boiling. I don't put anything on it, either. Just let it cool long enough to be able to pick it up.

Dad was a fiend eating it off the cob; he'd maybe go through three or four ears at a time. Smothered in butter, salt, and pepper. That along with three eggs every morning for breakfast, no wonder he had several stokes in his later years.

This time of year, the corn comes into the grocery store packed in ice, whole ears and unhusked. I open the top just a little bit to make sure there are no worms in it, and all the kernels are there all the way to the end.

When I was a kid, we'd go out into the country to a farm stand early in the morning before it got hot, where they'd pick it fresh that day before we got there. Kept it in the refrigerator until we ate it that night, then went back the next time we wanted more. Dad said it would be ruined if it sat in the 'fridge overnight. I don't even know where any farm stands are these days, CV19 seems to have wiped them out.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 57° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 78° with overcast skies in afternoon. Yard cleanup went well yesterday. Made first visit to Cider Mill in afternoon. Cinnamon donuts and warm cider tasted very good. Saying goodbye to Sister and BIL this morning. Mow grass later in day. Need to get tractor out and clear culvert on both sides of road on west side of property.

Mostly, yes bird is a Hummingbird. Fluffed up to stay warm.

Alien, I cook corn in husk on BBQ. Soak them in a bucket of water for several hours. Set BBQ temperature at a 375°. Takes about 1/2 hour. Until I can tell kernels have turned soft threw husk. If husk have already been removed. Wrap corn in aluminum foil. I always put butter on my corn. No other seasoning.

Buckeye, I like either apple or peach pie.
