It certainly was. St. Louis Music Electronics (SLME) was the manufacturing division of St. Louis Music, Inc. We made amplifiers, speaker cabinets, and PA equipment under the brands Ampeg, Crate, and Audio Centron (and Crate Pro Audio for a short while). The Ampeg brand was the big money maker and most recognized name. It's the big name in the bass amp world, though some consider it something of a dinosaur these days. I had the fortune to meet a great many musicians, famous and otherwise, either during factory visits, R&D consultations, or industry trade shows. Mostly rock guys, but some jazz and R&B as well. 99% of them are great people who just happen to be famous. There were a small handful who were the very picture of an arrogant rock star, but most were very down to earth. Interestingly enough, the most talented ones were generally the nicest ... as opposed to the ones who were, say, more famous for their on-stage makeup than their musical abilities.

I was only there for 10 years, but it was a very transformative period in my life, and gave me some cherished memories, and more than a few good friends. It's the one job I miss.

Sounds like fun work

Happy Anniversary PJ. Sorry you don't enjoy the banjo, it's a fine instrument, difficult to play. I know many truly great players, including Bela Fleck. He was formally the BIL of a good friend. Met Sierra Hull (mandolin), and Michael Cleveland ( fiddle) at a festival in Guthrie, OK. also.
Love that music!

I got a friend that’s a banjo player. In his younger days he won a lot of competitions. He still plays in a group in WV. Another banjo player I follow is a young kid named Lincoln Hensley from NC. I met him at a show when He was in a group with a couple young ladies from my home area. He now is in the Tennessee Bluegrass Band, and he has already played the Grand Old Opry a couple times.

Happy Anniversary PJ and wife. Sounds like an interesting place that you worked.

RNG, sorry your travel plans have to change...but the Oregon coast sounds nice.

After the roofing company guys left, decided to race against the forecasted incoming storm bands from Ida...started tilling the front 2 acre food plot...got about half done and was run in by a hard shower. Once it stopped, I went out in boots with a rake to work on one bad spot...got drenched...but I had forgotten how nice it feels to get rained on while working where I didn't need to care about protecting anything from the rain...at first it felt good since it was so hot and humid...Then the rain drops got much bigger and very cold...so walked back to the barn, and the sun came out in 5 minutes.

Decided to plant this section so the rain could wash in the crimson clover seeds...I was almost finished and my wife comes out and yells that we have a tornado warning over us...all of our phones are alerting. So I finish up and come in...by then the TV weather map showed it had moved north of us.

The most interesting thing during all of this is that near the door of the barn I walked up on a blacksnake that had its mouth down in a little puddle of water that had collected on the edge of a tarp...I watched its throat pulsate like when you drink from a straw...repeatedly while it sucked up water...was there 20 minutes later when I came back, still drinking. I'd never seen a snake drink before.
That was interesting morning one could say. ;)

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 6:30 AM. Sunny. High 87F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
Yesterday's high was 95F, I might have to wear a sweater today at only 87 F. Brrrrr!🥶

I wonder how long it'll be before the real estate bubble pops, just like what's happening to lumber now.

That's a pair to draw to, David!(y)

If I recall correctly, the defective shingles on my first home's roof were from Owens Corning, and had to be replaced after only 10 years. A law suit had been filed against them, and I was able to recoup some, but not all, of the cost from the proceeds.

Yesterday the National Forest managers in California shut everything down until the 17th, and the National Parks followed suit. So much for Labor Day campouts and such. I had plans to visit Sequoia National Park the next week, so now thinking about the Oregon coast. Cool fog seems to be calling.

I had just finished the mounts for the screen on the grizzly when the neighbor texted that his grandpa wants to use his I-beam steel for fence posts. After getting the frame mounted, it's not going to be strong enough to withstand lifting the grizzly with the FEL, so today I'll see what kind of king's ransom the local steel warehouse wants for grizzly bars. Already emailed them a request for quote, but would be very surprised to get a reply.

Also read in the motorcycle club newsletter that the new board is considering revisions to one of the Canons to be more "inclusive". That Canon reads "Airheads ride Beemers with air cooled heads.", and it's the essential quality upon which the whole idea of the club was based. I sent email off this morning to the board (and copied the newsletter editor) suggesting that maybe they need to find a new club instead of trying to ruin this one.

Hope everyone's September gets off to a good start!
If one going to build something should make it rugged and last for long time, and indeed you done so. (y)

Increased House value is good if you are selling, bad if it's connected to taxes and your taxes are not frozen @ 65, bad if connected to increased insurance, good if you are getting a loan on the equity.

Thanks for explaining that! LOL

I get it done periodically for purposes of insurance coverage, replacement costs have near doubled since it was built. I just like to stay ahead of that. Plus curiosity, it costs $250.
