Like in other GM models, Chevy will be temporarily giving Traverse customers a $75 discount
while models are being produced without a wireless phone charger due to the chip shortage.

this is the first time I've read something specific as to what chips are in short supply.
Wireless phone charger. Clearly a high demand item, found in even clock radios now.
Lack of chips is starting to have big impact on manufacturers, going to have drops in production this year and they won't
like that at all. Particularly when they are all investing hugely in EV and need the cash flow to continue.
I guess all those $80k pickups will provide much of that.

any of you been solicited for your used cars to buy them? I get almost weekly advertising in the mail.

Good morning! 59 now, 86 or so later.

Haven’t posted much lately, last weekend was Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid Ohio Raceway. Was busy getting ready to go and was a busy 4 days at VMD. Not sure how far I walked, put 14 miles on my pit bike riding around. We raced at the vintage flat track Saturday night, entered 4 classes, won 4 classes.

The trailer wasn’t done, but was “functional”. It worked out. The extra room was much appreciated. Need to get the cabinets built and installed.

The supply chain issues are real and not improving Drew. In addition to shortages of chips, copper wire, etc., now steel is becoming very tight in supply. And the quality of components has declined dramatically.

Meant to post these last week, some more of the lillies around the house.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Three times recently I have been approached to buy my Ram mega cabs are rare all three have offered what I paid for truck two years ago. Discounts are very low on new cars/trucks if you can find them. Glad I’m not looking

Drew you should look at boats no inventory high prices if you can find one. I think when this washes out a lot of our country will be suffering

Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 4:00 AM. Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. High 94F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Right now radar is showing scattered showers all around, but the weather station hasn't picked up any accumulation. Yesterday was overcast most of the day, and I didn't miss the sun pounding down even a little bit.

That's some good news on your back, Drew. Hope you can resist the urge to go parading around like a spring chicken, though. 😄

In the fire that swept through Santa Rosa a year or two ago, Kyle, there was an older couple that spent the night in their swimming pool. They survived, but darn near froze to death. If you watch videos shot during the fire in Paradise, lots of people survived the ember storm without any protection at all. As long as they could stay away from the flames, it turned out OK for them. Pretty sure I have enough open space here to do that, and I've laid in a full face respirator so I'll have clean air to breathe. Read an article last week about multi-layer clothing strategies for burn prevention, so I ordered a flame proof base layer, kinda like long underwear. Talk about supply chain problems, the top is on backorder.

I guess some birds have bad feather days, huh Ron?

I've never seen that many blooms on a lily before, Rich. Are you using some kind of special fertilizer?

That photo of your kayak's bow going down that creek brought back some fond boyhood memories, Paul. Scrounged up a couple truck inner tubes and a sheet of plywood and built a raft. Had it a few weeks before someone stole it, but it was fun while it lasted.

All the stuff that was on order was delivered by FedEx yesterday, but it took two separate deliveries. Got a security camera to work over a 1000' spool of CAT 5e wire using the Ethernet range extenders, but it wouldn't work over two spools. I don't need all 2000', but I do need 1400', and it's rated for over 3000', so I'll be on the horn to tech support this morning. Also noticed that the camera image is a bit blurry, even on a short cable, so need to look into that, too. Seems like it's always sumthin'.

Fire wise, the heat map isn't showing any recent hot spots. Hard to believe it's true. But the air outside is cleaner than it's been in a while. Probably just take a little wind to fan the embers back into a conflagration, though. Hope it doesn't blow this way...

I need to tune in and watch some of the Olympics.
Maybe tonight, busy day until then.

70 and foggy, going to 92. Rain missed us yesterday, but dropped 7.5" not too far away in Chesterfield. Some roads are closed from the flooding, and other damage.

RS, that's cool that you dug into groundhog tunnels...I often wonder where their tunnels, as well as chipmunk and fox tunnels go, and how deep, etc.

Randy, like you, seems like the batteries last forever on the grill igniters...I'm not sure I've ever had to change the one on our Weber, and it sits outside 12 months a year. I think I'll take a new battery out next time I use it...or is that a jinx?

PJ, cool bridges and kayak photos...relaxing just to look at them.

BEF, sorry to read about your cat....very sad time for you.

Glad your air is a little better, RNG...Kyle's swimming pool plan sounds good to me, but also sounds like you've got things covered.

One of Coco's vets made a donation in her memory to a local pet health research non-profit. I researched them this morning and made a donation, too.

From where I'm sitting, can look out the windows and see about 30 hummingbirds sitting peacefully together on the feeders. That's rare since most of the time they run each other off after a couple of seconds...maybe today is National Get Along with Each Other Day.

Good Morning.
It’s 75 headed to 90+ in brilliant sunshine.
Possible rain overnight.

Yesterday was mostly inside. I got everything out of the KubVan and put away upstairs. I cheated and used an appliance dolly pulled up the stairs by a floor mounted winch. It’s not fast, but it sure saves the back. I installed the winch and modded the hand truck years ago, but only use it sporadically.
After the gear was stowed, I spent some time figuring out how to handle the recordings from the mixer. I added a card that will capture 32 tracks onto SD cards, but it saves them as multi track wav files, and to compound my confusion, it breaks it up into 4gb files. My task was to figure out how to load the separate tracks contained in the files, and then slice the separate files together into a seamless recording. Took a while to work it out and save some templates, but going forward it will be easy. But I spent the whole day at it.

Today I’m off to give my mechanical contractor buddy a hand.

Good morning! 71˚F heading to the mid 90s. Yesterday was the hottest - Tempest said 98˚F Ranger said 100˚F during Whipper's trail walk.

Even the morning project of cleaning the porch fan had to be interrupted with a cool down break. I unscrewed all the blade then on the last blade I saw that they snap off by pushing a hidden lock. Does anyone else have problems with droopy fan blades on outside ceiling fans. I wish they would make a blade stiffener for hot climates.

Good news on the back Drew.

One couple that I play cards with announced last night announced that they are moving to an independent living that can also accommodate dependent living. They are in their mid 90s and will be moved out in a month. That seems to be the pattern here if you live long enough and start to get frail.

Time to get ready to mow the yard. It's very humid in the morning 98%, and by the afternoon it lowers to 35%, but 20˚ warmer.

66°F and clear skies with some fog this morning, going up to 93° today. Heat advisory issued for the area. 100° on Thursday, then we drop to 79° for a high on Saturday. Aah, Summer in the Midwest.

Walked out of work yesterday afternoon to find my right rear tire was halfway to flat. Went to no less than four different nearby gas stations only to find that two of them had nonfunctioning air compressors, and the other two had none at all. I couldn't see anything in the tire, so I stopped at Walgreen's and bought a $15 can of Fix-O-Flat. Naturally, I couldn't get it to dispense more than about half of the stuff into the tire. Thought about going back in to get half my money back. It did inflate the tire enough to get me out of North STL City and back over to Illinois. I stopped at a BP station just off I-64 ion Caseyville IL and inflated it the rest of the way. It held the air all the way home, and was still fully inflated this morning. Need to stop at a tire shop today to have it checked/repaired. I was just noting to someone about a week ago that I'm going to need new tires before Winter arrives. That's how it goes, I guess.

Wife brought home chicken wings from Wing Stop for dinner last night. Man, I love wings. Garlic Parmesan and two varieties of hot; all delicious.

Best wishes for your cat, BEF. 16 years is a long life.

Kyle, one of our cats is in the habbit of running in front of us when we walk, anytime he wants attention. Sometimes, that attention is the unwanted type. He darted in front of me once right as I was stepping onto the stairs to the basement, and found himself (accidentally) kicked down the stairs. Amazingly, he still does it. He's also bad about laying down right behind me when I'm doing something at the kitchen counter. I've lost track of how many times he's been stepped on or kicked. A glutton for punishment, that one.

Yep, we’ve been offered stupid amounts for both trucks and the house, but then we would have go pay stupid amounts to replace them, so I don’t see the win.

The battery, or the igniter itself?

The battery holder leaked water into it and it’s all a mess inside, everything rusted and corroded now. I haven’t messed with it in a few years now., just use a lighter.

Thanks for the kitty concerns. Wife is waiting to hear back from vet. Every time we call we get the “we’re too busy” response, but this time they will actually ask the vet. Turns out the cat wasn’t given insulin yet, just some fluids and other meds to give him some strength. He still can walk around some, but very wobbly.
We’ve been with this vet a long time, but might have to change if they can’t fit us in during an emergency. I am friends with a vet further away, I’m sure will see us if needed. That’s plan B if we don’t hear something soon.

This is a lap cat, people cat. Also does the “lay behind you on kitchen floor” so you trip over him trick like Paul’s.

Haven’t heard from work, asked if anything urgent I need to come in for, if not will stay home today to help take cat somewhere. The brother to this cat got outside a few years ago and got hit on the road. Our other cat is sick with the thyroid issue, we give it meds twice a day.

Was supposed to have lunch with former coworkers from my last company, haven’t seen them in a few years. I cancelled on that.

Nice to hear from Rich. Nice tiger lilies.

Bunch of rain down in VA yesterday.

I also get flyers wanting to buy my car. I hit 100k on the Subaru a couple weeks ago coming back from TN. Happened on I40 going thru crossville. It’s not paid for yet.

I remember on my last dodge truck, I hit 100k crossing the new river on I77 in VA. Don’t remember now where I hit 100k, 200k or 300k on my old pilot, nor where I hit it on the present pilot. My 2008 truck is still in the 40ks.
I need oil change on the truck.

Don, installing a couple porch ceiling fans has been on to do list for several years. Need to replace 2 in the house.

The outside cat likes to run in front of the feet and try to trip us. I have to be very careful walking with it around.

Don't have any problems with blades on our porch fan, other than staying dusty since I don't keep it clean like you :) ...it's a Harbor Breeze...pretty sure it's a model made for exterior use.

Nice looking retirement community...everything sparkling clean...and I like their description of Round Rock...especially plugging the donuts.

Had the chap that is going to build my barn turn up today. All set to go. It will take 2 weeks for permits, insurance, engineers paperwork etc but he is happy with the site. Looking forward to it. Truth be known, I can't wait!
I had taken aerial shots with the drone and marked the position roughly. He was pleased and asked me to send him a copy. It will be 15 meters across the front and 12 meters deep.
