Anyone been to the Cabernet Grill in Fredericksburg TX?

grey and damp morning. C'mon Mr Sun

No, but did drive thru Fredericksburg Tx once.

Not mowing the pretty flowers the last time cost me, extremely high grass. And the places I did mow the flowers the last time, they still came back and bloomed again.

Before buying my last tractor I looked at kioti and the white copy bobcat. I didn’t like their backhoe connection. One kioti dealer I went to has since gone out of business. The local New Holland started selling kioto back then also, I noticed yesterday their New Holland sign is covered over. No new tractors on their lot.

Nice pic Ron!!!

37°F and clear skies with some thick patchy fog this morning, going up to 64° today. Looks like nice weather for the rest of the week, albeit about 10° cooler than normal. I'm OK with that. It seems we get to have an actual Spring this year.

The supplies for the fence were delivered on Friday. Wife says they showed up about 08:00 this morning. The reworked quote was much better than I anticipated, coming in about $2-3K less than I expected. He's also throwing in the additional 4' gate at no charge. This guy may be redeeming himself.

Wifey and I went to new tax preparer Saturday morning to sign forms. Not sure I'd be interested in using them again next year. They took entirely too long to get this done (7-ish weeks), and they weren't the friendliest people I've ever met. We had lunch in Fairview Heights after that, and made a couple of other stops before heading home. On-and-off rain kept us inside the rest of the day.

We got more rain overnight and into Sunday morning, but the heavier stuff missed us. All we got out of it most of the day was a lot of wind.

We never considered a Deere when we were looking, BEF. I know a few people who have had a fair amount of trouble with their newer CUTs, including The Wife's uncle. So, we looked elsewhere. She did want to look at Kubota, until she saw how proud they are of their tractors. We also had the same experience with a Kubota dealer that you had with JD; two guys stood inside and stared while I perused the lot, but never came out. MF, NH, Mahindra, and LS dealers were much friendlier. In the end, LS won us over. Almost five years later, still no regrets.

Great sunrise pic, Ron.

Wife was having some issues with slow internet Saturday, RNG. She looked at me and asked when the Starlink would be available here. Last I looked they only said mid- to late 2021 for us.

Been there. Stayed at Lady Bird Johnson RV Park. Kind of across street from the grill. Do not premember what we had to eat.

I got the same estimate when I signed up for StarLink, Paul. Looking at the coverage map explains why the service isn't available here yet. There are lots of birds up there, but a whole lot of have yet to reach their intended orbits. The result is gaps in coverage that move across the ground. That said, since I installed monitoring software, the logs are showing that HughesNet stops working at least twice a day, and as many as a half dozen or more. The new alarm system fails over to a cellular connection when that happens, and logs those events as well. I thought the internet was supposed to be as reliable as any other utility by now. Oops, maybe it is. Public Safety Power Shutoffs will be starting again any day...

Good Morning! 65˚F cloudy NE light wind.
A quick grocery shopping this morning for the "Menu" in our new FOK meal planner subscription and app. some of the meals and snacks this week include:
Aloo Gobi
warm spinach salad
curry spiced popcorn
cincinnati chili
Chocolate berry bites
Layered Greek Bean dip
Lemony asparagus stir fry over rice
Fruit beer float
I't almost like eating on a Holistic cruise with all new different plant based meals, so far very good. We went ahead and sign up for a year of menus since this week it was 25%off. We opted out of the breakfast menus. The grocery list for the week is a real time saver. They come out with next weeks menu and shopping list on Thursdays for the next week. This weeks grocery bill was $70.

Hand&Foot quarterly tournament continues tonight. We had about 40 masked people show up. Last week I was rushed on the last hand because my phone kept giving severe weather alerts of impending damaging hail, and my pick-up was parked outside, but still managed 4 wins out of 5 games.

Kyle we still have signs on the store doors in town that mask are mandatory and there is about 98% compliance. In Taylor HEB there were no signs about mask and about 75% still wore mask.

I got back from the PO at about 12:30 and little droplets of water hitting the windshield. Well the 60% prediction of rain just became 100% and it is pounding down. I guess the grass cutting will have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday. Grass will be too wet tomorrow and there is rain forecast for tomorrow, too.

TXDon- I don't think $70 would cover much here, maybe 2 bags of groceries if we didn't buy anything expensive :-(

68°F and .36 inches rain

Something different today. 1st time since pandemic we will host a face to face Happy Hour here at the house this afternoon. All participants are fully vaccinated. Will also have a Zoom link for the non island folks.
I will grill some marinated chicken tenders, Sophie made a potato salad and guests will be bringing stuff.

I’ll try for a bit of time on the project before. Yesterday I got the wire run for the meter box to circuit panel and from main panel to meter box but haven’t made the live connections yet. That #4 wire sure seems stiffer than it used to be.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

All this tractor talk led me to give my experience. I live 2 miles from Atlantic Tractor so I went there and looked at John Deere. I needed a SCUT not a compact. I then went to Kubota and finally to Binkly & Hurst for Massey Ferguson.
I wanted 4x4, power steering, both of which are pretty much standard nowadays. Of course diesel. I wanted 60” MMM, land plane and front end loader with skid steer style quick change bucket.
I tried all three tractors in the dealers yards as best I could.
The MF was the newly revised model and the ergonomics were way better than the rest. More open area, joy stick moved forward and up making it super easy on the arm. But the kicker was the price, warranty was similar in all.

JD-$21000
Kubota-$18500
MF-$13900

And with the huge ergonomic advantage and no plastic to break, it was a no brainer.
I’ve only got 100 hours on it, but no issues so far and regrets.

I tried shopping at my local Kubota dealer for the M62, and actually had to make an appointment to see their salesman. Strike 1. He didn't seem very well versed on the tractor. Strike 2. When it came to talking price, there was no negotiation down from full retail. Strike 3 and I was out of there. He really shot himself in the foot there, since I've made upgrades on the M62 that he could have earned a significant amount of money on if he hadn't been such a jerk. I like my Kubota side-by-side, but it's 16 years old with high hours on it, and it's tired. I'm thinking about replacing it with a new one, purchased across the border in Oregon from the same dealer that was such a help with the M62 upgrades...

Way back when, I had a John Deere skidder. It was in the shop more than it worked...Long story short, JD left a sour taste in my mouth. I have run JD 450 dozers in the past as well as one of their wheel loaders and they worked good for me, but this skidder soured me on JD products. I didn't bother going to a JD dealer.

   / Good morning!!!! #132,934
Back when I was 1st looking my brother worked at a multi site JD dealer in NH. He had a JD as well as worked on them. Even though I lived in GA at the time I figured maybe a good deal could offset the distance. Not a chance. Brother couldn’t get me any better than local and that was gold plated. Local Kubota treated me within difference. Nearest Kioti dealer was a pleasure. Once I got quote from him I queried my Hilo Kubota dealer for same package. For his quote I could have bought same CK30 package and had enough to buy a bare CK20 as a spare. Thoroughly happy with my Kioti while I had it and would have bought another if locally available.
Locally I think JD and Kubota compete as to who is prouder. I’m very happy with my LS.

I almost ended up with a Deere, and really liked working with the salesman at the local dealer. The hydrostat transmission worked about as well as the Kubota, but the two pedal setup was awkward. It also bothered me that a lot of things that came standard on the Kubota were big buck options on the Deere. But in the end, the Deere 4060 I was looking at was just another compact tractor, and I really needed something more construction oriented. So far, the M62 has had a pretty good balance of power, durability, and flexibility (a real backhoe mount that still has 3PH and PTO). I got it last March with 120 hours on it, and at 275 hours now, once the upgrades were sorted out, the only thing I've had to do is change fluids and filters. I still keep my fingers crossed it stays that way, though.

Before I bought the Deere 4052R, I looked at was supposed to have been a 2011 Kioti. Nice tractor and I really expected to buy it (private owner sale), but after requesting the tractor's serial number, I found out it was a 2001. Apparently, the seller got screwed and I felt bad for the guy, but I wasn't going to pay $12K to sooth his feelings. I offered, IIRC, $8K, which he declined...
Then, I went looking for all brands...just ended up with a low hour (321 hours) 4052R. So far, I'm quite happy with it...even with the hydrostatic transmission. The dealer did warn me the 4052 with the Yanmar engine didn't have the torque the 4520 with the Powertech engine had...but, this tractor, even with less torque, provides enough to easily chip a 5-6 inch tree trunk. Although I actually prefer simple (no bells n' whistles) tractors, I'm getting use to the 4052's amenities

Got most of the deer fence put up around the garden. Had to put in 4 posts since I made it longer. Didn’t finish the gate section, but put it up temporary for now.
Corn starting to come up.

Unclogged the front downspout that had a tree growing out of it for a couple years. Was hard to pull the tree out.
Had to take downspout off to unclog. There was a piece of flashing in it, probably from the last roofing job. It’s clear now.

Just caught the sunset between garden and gutter work.

Strike 3 and I was out of there.
My local LS dealer went straight to Strike 3 with me. Not more than a few minutes into our conversation - we weren't even halfway around his small lot yet - he started in with talking bad about other area dealers, telling me if I bought from any of those guys he wouldn't service my tractor for me. 'K. Bye. Not doing business with someone like that. I ended up going to what used to be the regional assembly center about 60-ish miles east and south of me. In addition to assembling all of the tractors with his son in a large metal building on his farm, he also made some local sales. Really nice people, and I was happy to buy from him.

Good evening all. 53F for the start, overcast, breezy. Periods of wind, rain, and fog, and high temp was 56F. Carp removal at 8, so had to get moving and get boat launched. Fish club had two boats following shock boat netting the stunned carp. We removed about 2K pounds of carp. Pic was 1 of four loads we transfered to FEL on tractor that buried them. Finished up about 3 , boated back and trailer boat home. Heavy equipment was blocking driveway so borrowed neighbor's RV park spot. got short nap, went to dinner, came home and could move boat back into driveway :)
