Good morning!!!!

52°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 64° today. Drove through some light rain on the way to work, and more chances this afternoon.

Opened up the studio last night to do some work in there after I got a few other things done, and never did get back downstairs until it was time to shut everything down and go to bed. :(

Happy (belated) Birthday to your lovely wife, RS. (and early to yours, wngsprd)

Your place looks great, Ron.

I've been thinking lately that a landscape rake would be rather handy. May have to start browsing for one.

Good afternoon, not a bad day here, much helped by being able to look at the radar map and timing work outside to avoid getting drenched by the thicker banks of cloud.

We got our 2nd shot of Astra Zeneca vaccine yesterday, 12 weeks after the first jab. When they first announced the untrialled extension of the time between shots, it caused a lot of debate and consternation in other countries in Europe, all of which faced the same issue of limited supplies. Even the World Health Organisation did not recommend this, so the experts who took this decision for the UK were quite brave to go with their own judgement. It looks to have been a very good call in difficult circumstances, one dose has proven to be enough to see hospital admissions and deaths drastically reduce.

A new discussion about moving took place.... with a totally new objective! We both agree to look for a property that will become our "vacation" property. Someplace that we would like to frequently like to return to. We have no clue as to 'where' ..... The plan is to travel around in the RV, find those special places, then decide. Might be on a lake, might be up higher in the mountains. We will just have to make it suitable for the RV. That way, no building, no packing up the house, no big hassles.
That sounds a great plan (y)

Eric, How did you get that monster out of the ground?

Chris
No idea how my wife managed to pull that one out of the raised bed - I would have needed the loader and a length of chain !

Just don't have it in me anymore to try to rodeo the tractor to do it.

Have you seen those snow groomers that have a winch and a long wire to pull them up the steep parts? I wonder if you could rig up something like that for your tractor?

Chris

It would require some sort of mobile anchor. Just another excuse to buy that bulldozer (then rig up a radio controlled winch for it). But it would require a bigger set of balls to pilot that tractor, someone young that thinks they're invincible (and who has signed a very comprehensive liability release).

A neighbor just bought a 'dozer at auction, and now he's pouring money into it. Says he'll be ready to start cutting a fire break around the lot here next week. We'll see...

daugen, if you got all of your teeth out, then you wouldn't have the hassle of dentists ever again. ;)
Yeah, but watch out for getting the molars pulled out of your jaw...feels like your whole jaw is being pulled out of your mouth

52F and partly cloudy @ 11:30, becoming overcast later with only a high of 58F.

Woke up this morning to the sounds of Total Feline War. Apparently the door to downstairs did not get fully latched and Downstairs Cat got it pushed open and came upstairs looking for blood ... likely after having been tormented. It didn't last very long and I actually fell back asleep after it happened.

Once I got up The Squeak (aka "Likely Tormentor") was on my spot on the couch looking fairly freaked out. Looked around a bit and did not find any unauthorized kitties on the upper floor. Will need to go downstairs to actually verify the DC beat a retreat to the basement and isn't just hiding under some furniture up here.

Refilled hopper feeder and the two mealworm feeders yesterday, both of which were empty. Will do so again today, along with refilling the suet feeders on the back deck.

Also did a massive white worm harvest and feeding of the fish yesterday. I think everyone got their fill. The new banana worm cultures have really started to take off and are producing well. Well enough to feed three tanks of fry twice per day. Cleaned front glass on a couple more tanks and got two more HOB filters set up and running.

The Woman opted for Indian cuisine, so I made the run down to Raj's and picked up our usual. Filled up her car on the way home, as it was almost empty. Noticed the check engine light was on, so that will have to be checked out.

Got the rest of the terminals soldered and heat shrunk on the wiring harness (except for one on the ground wire for the accessory outlet) for the Cub last night, and the last harness sleeved with PET loom. Might go ahead and see about getting the cable hangers mounted on the ROPs and everything wired up later, assuming it continues to warm up.

UPS just delivered the Chapin spreader a little bit ago. It's sitting in front of the garage so I need to retrieve that and bring it inside and inspect it ... can already see that the box is ripped in a couple of spots. Will take pics before I move it. Then assemble it, if it appears undamaged.

Lawn needs mowed again, which I may go ahead and do - since they are calling for more rain tomorrow (0.11") and Sunday (1.03") ... and with the relatively low temps and additional rain I could aerate again on Monday, so it's not like that window has closed.

After Sunday, the Ten Day shows high temps slowly warming from the mid-50's to the mid-60's with no rain forecast at present.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Did you get the stainless model, or one with a plastic hopper?
Had a plastic hopper (Chapin) spreader used mostly for ice melt. IIRC, that was a 50 lb. capacity. I wanted something with more capacity and better spread control, so I went with the stainless hopper (100 lb. capacity).
Works great for ice melt, but if you use it for salt, do give it a good rinsing by Spring. Even with the stainless hopper, the compnents below aren't as corrosion resistant, so give a squirt of Fluid Film after using it for salt.
BTW, the other thing I really like about the stainless spreader is the tire size....much larger than the smaller spreaders have.
I've had this one for two winters, but never used it for grass seed. I've some bare spots on the lawn, so this will be a good year to see how it works.
Thought about a UTV mounted spreader, but that's likely more than I need or want to pay for...

If you don't assemble that unit soon, at least inventory the parts...biggest complaints about Chapin is not getting are the required hardware
