61F with a few clouds @ 21:15, headed down to only 58F for a low (... a sign of things to come ... :p)

Got the upper front done just as it started to sprinkle, right as The Woman got home with my Cold Cut Combo from Subway.

It had actually clouded up and was feeling a bit chilly but on the last couple of passes I noticed the wind had shifted around to the southwest and it was feeling a bit warmer.

This years beef finally made it down to this end of the neighbor's pasture:

They sure are curious beasts:

Got this one curious enough to lick my hand ... don't think he was all that impressed ...

Before I went out earlier to do around the house I got an old Parmesan Cheese container and filled it with deer repellent and put a little out on the hostas around a couple of ornamental trees out back. Will see if that does anything to keep them at bay.

Hope everyone had a great Saturday.

I operate the aerator behind a Deere ZTR (Z920) and you know how sharp they can turn!
I turn relatively sharp turns, but not acute turns...say, a 5' turning radius. No problems there. Try that out and see how your aerator does. Worse case I've seen is the plug holes will be somewhat elongated

I did similar today, probably a 10' circle at worst ... seems to work fine.

Now, don't run your aerator across asphalt or concrete without the wheels down!!! Trust me, you know when those tines hit a surface they can't penetrate!! They make a hell of a racket!!

I can imagine ... I managed to find a couple of rocks (buried) in the yard that I didn't know were there ... they provided a little excitement. Actually caused one of the block to bounce enough that it came out of the tray ... I didn't notice it was gone until I came back on the return pass.

Now, backing up is challenging with the aerator...I normally operate to minimize backing up. About the only time I do is when the wheels are down and I'm parking the unit (after the aeration work is done)

Same ... pretty much avoided it while the wheels were up and it was engaged in the ground.

As far as the wheels, no zerk fittings on the Agri-Fab, but no problems either...

(y)

This shows the issue I need to address - hitch on the Cub probably doesn't sit low enough to get full penetration:

No real hurry on doing something on it though, since I was able to get everything cored today.

I was concerned about those plastic bushes over 20 years ago and guess what, they are still working. They told me at the time they were trouble free, not like bearings.

Thanks - good to know ... (y)

Thanks for your thoughts mostly gas. Yeah, it's been awhile. It will be nice if it happens as I've had my Honda since 2008 and it is about to hit 200,000 klm. Needs new tyres too. It has given me no trouble at all really. Just batteries tyres and brake pads. Always wanted a Mustang, but I think I am getting too old for that now. Maybe a new truck would be more useful on the property here. And perhaps a bigger tractor with a cab maybe. We will see where life takes us. Been in bed all day with back pain. Must be the cooler weather coming on. Hate wasting time in bed but no choice at the moment.

Lehua, Don

The Big Island Lehua blossoms grow on the native ohi'a, the first tree daring enough to sprout from a new lava field. The pom-pom stamens are sacred to the volcano goddess Pele and were used by the ancient Hawaiians in a potion to lessen the pain of childbirth. The red, salmon, pink, or yellow flowers are quite showy and energetically participate in the Big Island of Hawai'i's official lei.
By Hawaiian standards, the Big Island is HUGE. It's almost twice the size of all of the rest of the Hawaiian Islands combined and four times the size of Rhode Island on the mainland. And it has an active volcano as a major attraction which you can visit by car, tour bus, or see from above you as you take a helicopter tour of the island.
There are two major "sides" to the island: Kona, where you will find major resort accomodations, golf, horseback riding, tennis, and sport fishing; and Hilo, which includes Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Rainbow Falls, and Waipi'o Valley, the valley of kings.

David, you live in lovely state, with amazing traditions. I used to go there quite a bit with my brother (David!) when I was younger and we had a part interest in the Plantation Inn in Lahaina and a scuba diving shop.

I read the book “Hawaii” first, which really enhanced my enjoyment of the islands. And I continued to go and dive there off the coast of Maui with my new family after getting married, and indeed now I go diving there with my daughter.

One thing I always regret from the 80’s was my brother and I not taking the helicopter tour of Mt. Pelee at that time, when it was really erupting!

Always interested to hear any post from your little slice of paradise!

Poured first cup of coffee. 64° with mostly clear skies. Heading to 81° with mix of sun and clouds. Cleaned up a few little items around yard yesterday. Must have over done it. Have aches and pains this morning. Garden pond cleaning this morning. Lot of maple helicopters have fallen into pond. Then conserve energy and watch some NASCAR in afternoon.

Good morning all. Warm out, 55 now, going up into mid 80's today.
Friend coming over this afternoon and we are going to put a small window a/c unit in LR window to help out for next few days
until hvac installed.

Shoulder is very sore this morning, going to need some tylenol.
But it may have been due to my adventures with my office chair.
I put a plastic floor protector under the chair to prevent damage to wood floors.
Seems that made the chair roll easier....
So yesterday afternoon I come in and plop down on the chair, glad to sit down.
Chair shoots out backwards and drops me right on the floor, kawump.
Somewhat stunned, I started to "test" parts and everything worked, with no bad pain so pretty sure I didn't re tear anything but
definitely stretched a few things and now there is a dull ache all over. Took me a while to get up off floor ever so slowly.
This is why I always try to have a cell phone in my pocket, never know when life's adventures come along....

But it was all worth it seeing Ron's wonderful bird pictures this morning. Welcome home Ron.

potatoes are growing very quickly, I added more fertilizer yesterday and watered it all in. Read that onions liked fertilizer too so gave them a shot also.
And some on the beets too.
What I have is organic low test; need to pick up a small bag of 20-20-20 for the taters to apply once they start to flower.
I know now to keep it off the leaves but otherwise plants seem to love the stuff
and turn a darker green color. I also have some fish fertilizer I'm going to use today on the spring peas

Welcome back Space X astronauts. Good to have our own capability instead of depending upon Russia or China.
Now if we can start building electronic chips here, I might get my new truck delivered. Still no word at all. Not good.
