Tracking indicates the craftsman steering linkage is finally at the PO after leaving Honolulu 3 days ago. Will pick up.

Got a good start on cleaning out pool pump house yesterday. Filter needs thorough cleaning, replace 300 lbs of sand, new valve and retainer ring. Getting the old sand out the challenging part.

Makani already showed great interest in the funky water, likely more challenging keeping him away from the stinky sand. 11 years of algae etc.

That Studebaker pickup reminded me of when, some 65 years ago, my Dad worked for a company called Johnston Testers, that ran tests at oil drilling rigs. Dad actually worked inside, rarely went to a drilling rig himself, so his company truck was the only Studebaker that they had. It was also the oldest truck they had, but was actually a pretty good truck. All the fleet were dually one ton trucks, but all but Dad's were Chevrolet. Anyway, if all the testers were out somewhere and not available when a call came in for a tester, Dad went. I guess I was 12 or 13 years old when I went with him one night to a drilling rig and he found that the park brake, or emergency brake if you prefer, did not work. So a few hours later, we left and before we got back to the road, he smelled fire. We stopped and found that he had forgotten to release the park brake, which clamped around the driveshaft, so that was what was burning. We put it out by scooping up sand with a hard hat and throwing it on the fire. Fortunately, no damage except to the work out pads in that park brake. When Dad told the boss about it, the boss said, "Well why didn't you get out and let it burn?" It seemed that everyone but Dad thought it was too old and worn. Dad told him the truck wasn't worth much, but letting the equipment in the back burn would not have been good.

76F few puffy clouds indeed t shirt weather all the snow now melted.

Got two more spring project check off the list only one 2" deep rut to fill in side field while cleaning up the spruce tree.
Mrs. turn over her garden spots and decided to reduce garden about 60% this year... happy feet dancing here.

Soon Mrs. and I headed to town purchase good vinyl cleaner wash the house and brass door kick plates good chance drive thur light dinner,after that numb rest of the day away.

Drew, back in the day here 20’s were dubs and 22’s were double dubs. One source says the term dub came from the word double, of course they were not double the size.

Well the Studebaker is a no go, paint was a 20’er, weather strips gone, body rattles and steering is better on a ‘49 Mack log truck. The brakes, and I use the term loosely, were nearly non existent. A bit too small between the seat and the wheel due to the Ford truck seat in it. It had a fuel leak at the under hood pressure tank for the EFI.
The transmission and clutch, as well as the engine were great, the Fitech EFI worked without a hitch. The wheels and tires were new and a perfect set off for the truck. Too many downsides for the money though. No major projects at this point in life.
The search continues.

73 now a little coastal breeze now and again, feels good it's a bit humid. Haven't been doing much this week just enjoying the weather and trying out some of the summer beers sitting outside. The ticks are brutal so far this year, just sitting out watching the grill I've found 3 or 4 on my clothes, hate them things. Hate to start using stuff on my clothes we've been thinking on a new kitty, it's been 2yrs since we lost the last one. She was a sweet heart.

Spent most of day watching estate planning videos. I started 9 yrs ago and never finished. I wasn’t comfortable with what the lawyer for a trust so never got it established yet. Should at least do a basic will.

First time was in Ga and a real learning experience, but pretty much a cookie cutter ordeal. 2nd time as a major update after moving here, substantial changes to situation, and a very different experience and took 2 attorney’s. 1st one highly recommended, but we never saw eye to eye about what we wanted, so after 3 or 4 visits just told him I couldn’t pay someone not to do want I wanted. 2nd was also highly recommended but spent more time listening than talking. When we went in for final signing (along with SIL designated as a successor trustee) she actually thanked me because she said she actually researched some things I said and was pleased to learn. Yes, I was correct in what I discussed. Probably nearing time to revisit and make some adjustments. Granddaughter turns 15 tomorrow and she is a major beneficiary.

It is very important to understand funding the trust.

One of my sisters convinced my parents to sign one of those online Trusts shortly before my Mom passed. When Dad passed (no will), sister was eager to present her Trust document to the attorney. I was about 99.99% certain it was not funded. Probably not my better side to say I enjoyed the probate attorney saying her trust wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on. State’s intestate rules governed.

Another neat thing about trusts is contestability. There is a neat clause near the end that addresses the issue. My wife’s brother didn’t believe it when he was eager to contest the Trust his wife’s father set up. Told him to check for the clause, he wasn’t happy.

I’m about to rebuild my Weber grill. Couldn’t believe a replacement was over a thousand dollars. Have a couple hundred dollars of new parts on order. Will be as good as new as the basic grill itself is in great shape. The cooking area grill was most expensive and in worst shape, but also adding new gas tubes, internal sheet metal parts, igniter, and thermometer.

Appears I had a successful day with the Craftsman mower and back in operation.

Less success with the pool pump filter. Taking forever to drain the water, basically just trickling out the drain and too heavy to move. Last resort would be to scoop out the old sand and water, but boy that would be a time consuming mess.

My FIL has everything in a trust and he draws a substantial income from it.

I came near you this morning about 5 30 am on 70; hit 81 S and there was a big wreck on the northbound lanes, traffic was backed up about 12 miles then... can't imagine it got any better. I've gotta find a better route than 81, but I don't believe there is much choice.

That’s one of the issues I had with it, the lawyer just added a sentence that said your property and accounts are in the trust.
Everything I’ve read says that isn’t sufficient. When I questioned it, the lawyer said it was sufficient.

It was also a revocable trust, which does nothing to protect assets to Medicaid. However, I’m not sure I want a non revocable at this point. That’s a tough decision.
I was able to convince my parents years ago to establish wills and trusts.

Mine did have contestability section.
