Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 4:45AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 78F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
There is such a thing as too much front brake, though. Been over the handlebars on the mountain bike a few times on really steep descents, going too slow and using too much front brake. Years ago on a motorcycle trip in Baja, a riding buddy kept hammering on his front brake, finally losing traction and falling on a sandy downhill. My last big crash happened when a skidding front wheel hit the white paint line and slid sideways, dumping me on my butt and busting an oil line.
Pretty much have the same internet situation you do, Doug. But your speeds are significantly higher. I'm signed up for the Starlink beta, and can't wait to give HughesNet their walking papers.
The burning yesterday went pretty well, but took longer than I thought it would. Probably because of all the stumps, maybe a dozen. Even pushed out a couple very large manzanita stumps that were too stubborn for the old tractor, and threw them on half way. And kept throwing more slashings on as I bucked half a pallet of manzanita. More of that on the agenda today, as the pile is still smouldering.
Took a little walk around the area I've been clearing last night, and though it's not huge, I'm happy the grapple is working as well as it is. A tractor isn't a bulldozer, and that little piece of ground would have been opened up in just a few minutes with one, but with a little patience I'm getting done what I need to.
While I was wandering around, I caught a few snaps of the wildflowers that are popping up. Not a lot of them compared to past years, but very welcome to see.
TGIF gang!
