The garden bit the dust.
A week below freezing, low of zero ˚F and ice and snow took it's toll.
Even the gardens that were covered did not survive. 90% of the new spring plants in the green house survived.
I picked enough Kale to put in a soup.
Potatoes and onions go in the ground next week if that next big arctic freeze stays North.
I hope Giddings still has seed potatoes and people did not buy them up to eat.

Saw a meme on FB, it said "If you add a little coconut oil to your skillet of kale, it really helps when you scrape it out into the trashcan". I wish I liked kale. My kids wont eat it, but wife will. I'm glad for you all who like it.

It warmed up nicely today, I got some outside vitamin D. I started all the outside equipment, the Steiner Beast, 4310, 5420 and used them all. The Steiner never got more than a hair above 160F on the temp gage.

I got the 5420 out and pulled over a huge post oak tree. I cut out one portion and drove it behind the barn so I can cut and split it for FW. Chainsaw bogged down a bit, like it might be a bit lean off of idle, but ran fine once it spun up.

I got back in the barn about 5pm and noticed the SpeedAire only had about 40 psi in it. Uh oh. The big 1hp baldor motor I had substituted was not kicking in. I had rebuilt the original 2hp Dayton motor and put it on. Turns out, the pump has got problems. It is getting into a high friction bind, then spinning freely, then back into a bind. I pulled off the big flywheel and the crankcase end bearing cap, and replace the needle bearing. No help. Will have to pull it down. It might need new rod bearings, or the far end needle bearing that is in a blind hole and you have to disassemble the whole thing.

I keep wanting to take apart my McIntosh amp and replace all the old caps....but worried it might need more than just caps. Scared I might get in over my head real quick. I suck at electronics. I better get the compressor fixed first, then the next cold snap maybe the amp.

My wifey has lost her sense of taste and smell. I never really got that bad, my smell got a bit weak for a day or 2. My O2 level has stayed up 95ish...just ate a decent Tangelo. My GF in St. Pete FL had an awesome tangelo tree. Miss those.

Nice weather had lots and lots of motorcycles out. My son got to ride his GT80 around for about an hour or more...riding with the pretty blonde neighbor girl on her 4 wheeler and her 10yo brother. :)

The pond is fully agitated in a full liquid unfrozen state again.

I saw another meme where some Texas lawmen had arrested "the culprit"....(they had the Disney ice princess in handcuffs, escorting her up the steps of the courthouse.)

Heatwave hitting us today. At present it's 103 deg F 12.15 pm. Not going outside.

I can relate it was 72˚F Hotter than 5 days ago when it was zero.:D

Ok ,Kyle your on my list for next year to get a batch of my kale nacho chips. Too bad about the freeze you might have had them this week. (but then your wife would not be able to taste them)

Wifey not feeling good today, her arthritis is acting up big time, especially in her mid / upper back were it is the worst. Trying to get her to relax for a change....

Have you tried tonic water mixed with either lemon juice or orange juice? Rheumatoid arthritis flares up in my hands after I eat something as simple as a piece of apple pie.

Windy day, overcast cleared out late morning, and high temp was 65F Forecast is on a roller coaster, nothing like last week :) Chapel to start, made wife's breakfast, and prepared bike for first ride sine tuneup. Drew, reminds me of conversation with my solar installer during last year’s upgrade. People going off grid don’t save money. Guessing 1 have over $110k in my systems since 2006. 14 years, about $655/mon and that doesn’t count fuel. But if I can get another 20 years without additional major reinvestment I can be happy

RNG, thanks for the video link. Don’t know how I missed that one as I’m subscribed. That is exactly the direction I intend. Happy to see the part on USG Wan2 as Failover.

I need to figure out what I’m doing wrong with my Unifi as I’m not getting any range from my 2 wired APs. Guessing must be radio settings.

I am pleased with my reconfigured basic network. I think AT&T may have tweaked the tower.
