Good Morning!!!! 41F @ 4:45AM. Rain showers this morning with mostly cloudy conditions during the afternoon hours. High 52F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
Picked up another 3/4" of rain yesterday, and it's raining right now. Tomorrow looks dry, with more rain for Sunday into next week. We haven't seen the mud flows that Monterey County has gotten because David's atmospheric river is aimed farther south for the time being. Hope it stays that way. A lot of snow hype and drama circulated prior to the last storm, but thankfully snow levels didn't dip as far down as predicted. Still the usual mayhem on the mountain passes, though, as people refuse to deal with Mother Nature's whims.
I'm with you, Ron, no haircuts until I'm a few weeks past the last vaccine dose. In fact, I might just let it grow. I had a ponytail down my back all through college, and chopped it off when I started interviewing for a corporate job. Now that I'm retired, maybe it's time to go back to my roots. Gonna have to do something about that bald spot, though, so I ordered some Rogain yesterday to see if it'll work.
Word came in from France this morning that the wire transfer that was started last week finally cleared. First the bank on this end stopped it for security reasons, then the bank on the other end couldn't find the vendor's account to make the deposit. A lot of screwing around for three small ball bearings.
Now trying to make the homeowner's insurance payment via credit card, and for some reason there's a run around this year on that, too. Seemed to work fine when I checked for 2019 and 2020, except that the 2021 premium is almost double what it was back in '19.
Still working on the PG&E bankruptcy claim, and have uploaded lots of photos showing the fire damage on the property. Yesterday I found a
video I made showing the spectacular wildflower bloom from April of '18 that also had good coverage of the landscaping and the big firewood pile that were lost. Makes for a good "before" part of the story. Overdubbed some narration explaining what was planted and why, and pointing out the large amount of brush underneath the PG&E power lines that run up from the lake across unmaintained state property. The video is slow uploading, so the link won't be good for another hour or so.
Cooked those kidney beans all day, but they were still too hard by dinner time. Thirty minutes on pressure cook in the Instant Pot fixed that, and they were delicious! Here's the
recipe I based my batch on, with a few changes because I didn't have fresh ingredients on hand. I also gave 'em a healthy dose of Liquid Smoke, and the whole house smells wonderful as a result.
Not much planned for today, other than move a fresh pallet of firewood into the garage if it stops raining long enough. And keep the wood stove stoked and toasty.
TGIF gang!:drink:
