Good morning to all! Low of 28, going up to near 50. Our indoor/outdoor thermometer was acting weird yesterday.... showed an outside temp of 68 degrees.... no, I don't think so... I checked the neighbor's online weather station which showed 44... that is more like what it felt like outside....

So changed the batteries in the outside unit, brought it inside and put it next to the indoor unit to see if it registered the same temp....nope, showed 10 degrees cooler..???.... so changed the indoor batteries. About 10 minutes later, they both showed the same temp. Seems to be working now.

I did get out to the shop yesterday and started planing the boards. A lot of nice grain was revealed. Today I will get some rips done and hopefully start the joining process.... pics to follow

I heard on the news that 2 vaccination clinics that were scheduled to start today were cancelled.... not any real reasons given, only "DOH employee mistakenly announced the clinics" .... no word on when they will be rescheduled..... the vaccines are still being administered to health care providers and first responders at this time.

A big weather system is approaching for the weekend, snow and rain Saturday night and Sunday. My daughter up in Colorado has 5 days of snow forecasted, up to 2 feet. She is only 4 hours away, but in an entirely different climate / weather pattern.

Wifey just asked if I can make a grocery run... rather do it today vs. tomorrow and fight the crowd... gonna get moving...

Everyone have a great day! Happy Friday!

Good morning! 31 now, temps are supposed to decline as the day goes along. Until it gets down to 18 or so.

Sunday night into Tuesday could be interesting for weather......Rain or snow or ice, maybe all 3, maybe 1 or 2 depending on the storm track. Should be interesting.

Drew, you need a cab for that snow blower. Makes all the difference! Keeps the wind off of you, keeps blowing snow out of your face. I rigged up a piece of defroster hose from the air outlet on the engine at the cylinder head and ran the hose into the cab to keep the front window clear. It is crude, I know I could make it better, but it keeps the window clear and I swear, raises the temperature in the cab. Of course I do a pretty good job of sealing off the rear of the cab!

Yesterday was a good day.....got temporary shore power into the cargo trailer I am converting into a basic camper/toy hauler, have heat in there as well now. Was cleaning up inside the trailer and had to shed my coat. No more running a cord thru the door. Also seemingly have a final layout for the bathroom, managed to gain several inches of precious space.

Then FedEx showed up with box containing the repaired oil tank for a long suffering BSA M33 project that has been stalled too long. When I got the bike, the oil tank was resting on the trans., but appeared to be in good condition. Once cleaned, it had porosity and tiny hairline cracks in it. Couldn稚 find another tank, guy who welds sheet metal for me gave up on it. Finally tried a place in PA that restores antique fuel tanks. They fixed it, sealed it internally, and shipped it back for $101.00! Score!

I avoid this thread, and most any other threads when it gets political. Conservative Libertarian Anarchists should never, ever get involved in political discussions.....

Vaccines are still in short supply locally. Local health department is, IMO, doing a good job of communicating and prioritizing who gets a shot. There are still working thru the backlog of 80+. Local hospital (part of Cleveland Clinic) announced they were getting another shipment finally.

Everyone stay safe out there!

When I first started using Amazon It seemed like prices were a couple of cents lower than I could get the same thing elsewhere. Now it seems like things are more, but I already payed for free two day delivery.

You do have to price compare on Amazon and do not assume they have the best or even the same price as a retail store.

Yup. I think they used the Walmart business plan; start out lower than everyone else, then when they have us hooked and all the other competition has been eliminated, raise prices to whatever they want.

We do still buy a fair amount of stuff through Amazon. But, more often than not I find better prices elsewhere with only a little searching.

67°F and .23 inches rain.

Hoping I can finish up from yesterday. Almost beat the rain, but not. Started while I was on the roof. All I needed was maybe 25 minutes but no. A slow, puckered up exit. Of course it stopped 5 minutes later, for awhile but never sunny enough to dry out and stay dry.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

there are so many lookalikes on Amazon and even on Prime. Sometimes hard to tell
who you are buying from. I try to stick with Prime vendors as am hoping some form of due
diligence was performed on them.
I'll talk to my buddy Jeff next time I'm out on his 400 foot yacht about cleaning up
the bad actors. This year I have twenty years membership in Prime, figured he'd be calling me any day
for that invite on his yacht.

Lysol Laundry uqcCD Sanitizer Additive, Crisp Linen, 90 Ounce (4 Pack) 93.63 for me

I bought 2 of the 50oz last week at HEB grocery store for $5.98 ea. It's a hit and miss if you can find it on the shelves during these "trying" times.

I'm not worried about getting a vaccine anytime soon. Let those that need it most go first.

Same ...

If you know of anyone worse off than you then please help them get on a list. The passive attitude will not help them, you are dealing with an entity that the more you use the more you get.

Ken, I decided it was too cold out to attempt the chains. The set from Canadianchains.com arrived today, too. I will look at them both and decide which set I will put on sometime in the next week, IF it warms up a bit.

31F and cloudy @ 13:30, high of 32F for the day.

Made some more chicken curry yesterday evening, using a prepackaged set of Blue Elephant Royal Thai ingredients that The Woman had picked up. Added carrots. potatoes, and yellow bell pepper for vegetables . Was looking a little short on liquid so The Woman suggested adding the leftover coconut milk from the last batch, which I did. It ended up being more like a soup than a sauce. Of course adding the coconut milk ended up diluting the spices too much - so I added 1/2 a can of Maesri green curry paste (2 oz)

That sure did the trick as far as spicing it up - ate a bowl of it this morning and it had my head broken out in a sweat with my scalp literally soaked ... Will have to see this evening whether The Woman can tolerate it or not, might be adding more coconut milk.

The last chicken curry we made we used a whole can of Maesri yellow curry paste. But neither of us had a good handle on heat differences between yellow vs. green (or any of the others for that matter) So now we know, at least somewhat ... (These two cans were both gifts to us)

Two items delivered today - one by Amazon and the other by UPS from Best Buy. Both ordered late Wednesday night. Rest of orders due in tomorrow.

Squirrel feeder definitely empty now, so that will be on the agenda, along with filling up any others that need filling.

After that probably work on getting the tv stand put together, assuming it made it here intact (glass shelves ... :confused2:)

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Acknowledging ronjhall and riptides comments. Hope I didn't miss anyone else.
Great to see USA is going to be quarrantining all international travellers at last. It is a great start.!!
Our contact tracing system also plays a major part in halting the spread.
Keep safe everyone. We want you here.

RS, anyone that is 65 and older should be looking to get the shots.

Ron,

No dispute on that from this quarter - did something I said make you think otherwise ?

I was given a 6 page document to read when I signed in Wednesday. The important item that I was asked for the 4th time. Was, have you ever had a bad reaction to a vaccination of any type. My answer was other than a sore spot for a day. NO. Today I cannot tell I had the shot.

Sounds good ...

We're both signed up with the county here ... and I'll be happy to take it - just as soon as it's available for my age group. At the rate they have been going, it doesn't look like that will be anytime real soon ... probably a month or so away, based on the rollout schedule. Phase 1b for Ohioans 65 and older does not start until Feb 8th, and then that's followed by others with certain health conditions starting on Feb 15th. And those are just starting dates - and assumes they'll have the vaccines available to do it.

So I'll be after that. In the meantime, will try to stay hunkered down as much as possible.

David, my Amazon orders have be coming in less than 2 days. Had a order that made in the morning arrive in late afternoon same day. This week. Sure makes a difference when they have a new distribution center 2 miles from my home.

Generally been pretty quick here - although it depends on where things are coming out of (my house slippers took a bit - probably a week or ten days)

Good news here is Amazon acquired the old Rolling Acres mall property (mall was razed) and put up a new DC there ... probably about 8 miles away, which is much closer than the one in Twinsburg/Macedonia (25 miles ?)

BTW - Nice dove pic ...

I wonder if I'm the only one trying to get everything done as early as possible; just in case I should fall victim to the virus, or some other problem, and I don't want to leave my wife and daughters with a mess of paperwork if I should be in the hospital or dead.

So I have our auto and homeowner's insurance paid up until the end of October.
I've paid our property taxes in full for this year.
And today, I got the last form needed, so I have now filed our income tax return.

I got my stimulus check today. I didn't think I was eligible. My cfo confiscated it right away so I didn't do anything crazy. Like what I ask you? Kind of nutty but I have never been one to send money back.

I think they had to abandon contact tracing in our county because it got overwhelmed.

Nope no dispute. Just stating what we all should hope for.
On the subject of slippers. I have been having problems with foot pain. Been wearing memory foam slippers. Turns out not enough support. Bought a pair of sketchers go walk shoes with white soles. Pain is gone. White soles are so I can tell which pair are supposed to be used for slippers in the house.

Since I live alone. It’s all my problem. The only thing that is not auto pay is 3 credit cards and taxes.
I have a document for my son to get access to those accounts. Son and his wife are Sassy’s God Parents. She is who I have to worry about. Neighbors check on me daily.

A little heat is good.

I can imagine that would be the case, but when it starts to get further under control they may find it worthwhile to re-introduce it.

I can see how that could be.

Bought a pair of sketchers go walk shoes with white soles. Pain is gone. White soles are so I can tell which pair are supposed to be used for slippers in the house.

Good to know.

Think I've seen some ads recently for some kind of super whizz-bang Sketchers lately on the tele ... suggested those to The Woman, as she has foot pain issues as well.

On house shoes, I'd had several different pairs of cheap, ill-fitting slippers that The Woman picked up for me ... which, of course, I would not wear (honestly, I'd just prefer to go barefoot when I'm inside the house, but that is no longer possible apparently with no carpeting)

A year or two ago she was interrogating me on my house shoe preferences and I mentioned Minnetonka moccasins ... that resulted in her coming home with a pair of Minnetonka heel-less, slip-on slippers (aka "mules") ... which I didn't really care for because, well, they didn't have any heels to secure them on my feet.

But eventually I got used to them (even though they really didn't have much in the way of padding for the soles - but definitely walking around barefoot), and even developed a degree of fondness for them - to the point that I actually wore off all the material on the top of the soles where your foot sits. Of course, she couldn't stand that ... and has been bugging me to do something about it for probably last 6 months or more ...

So I finally broke down and bought these RockDove units:

IMG_0782 copy.jpg

Big part of the appeal was that they are washable (my feet sweat any time they are constrained in a shoe or slipper) and the sole contains some kind of foam and is probably 3/4" to 1" thick, plus rubber outer sole so they can be worn outside. Doesn't seem inclined to crush down thus far, but only time will tell how well they hold up. And they do keep my feet warm (I have poor circulation in my hands and feet)
