Good Morning
It’s 36 with a forecast high in the low 40’s with mostly clear skies.

Didn’t get much else accomplished other my maintenance run yesterday. That went pretty well, with all squawks remedied.

Amazon left me some LED bulbs that I ordered to replace the font “corner” headlights on the Kubota. Still waiting for the H4 LED’s for the actual headlights. They will complete the LED conversion except for tail lights and flashers.

Not much planned for today, but I’m sure I’ll spend some time in the shop

I’m definitely impressed by the photographic posts, are most with real cameras rather than phones?
Speaking of phones, thanks for the iPhone magnifier tip. I had to enable it, but it works great on my XsMax.

Don, wonderful news about your shot. Hope your wife got one, too.

She will not be eligible for a while. First comes Phase 1-A (done), 1-B (now), 1-C and then Phase 2. She is in Phase 2.

Good morning! 53˚F, cloudy, heading to the high 60s a typical Texas January day.

I was just proficient enough with my iPhone to fill out all the forms that were e-mailed to me while in-line. This includes taking pics of my DL and insurance card transferring them to the document and then signing the documents on my iPhone. This process took about 20 minutes, I was wishing I had a bigger keyboard and had sprayed the defogger on my glasses. Most other people had filled out their paperwork at home but I was just given a 10 minute notification, and it took me 10 minutes to drive there. It looked like they were giving about 40-50 vaccinations an hour and they were there till 8:30 PM. The e-mail said they had 300 vaccines to give out at this hub, I'm surprised they were still giving them out the end of the second day. I'm guessing the first day they were not very proficient. My injection site is sore to touch but no other side effects like the flu shot gave me.

The wait list is now 109,917 for the hubs in our county.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 4:30AM. Cloudy with occasional rain showers. High 51F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
Less than 0.2" of rain is expected today, with another couple of tenths on Sunday. The real fun starts Tuesday night, with an inch, then more every day through the end of the 10-day. These are cold systems, and I might see a dusting of snow as well. Brrrrrr!

Please keep us in the loop with your LoRa efforts, Eric. The "driveway" here runs a quarter mile up over a hill to the front gate, and it would be nice to know when the mailman opens the box for a delivery. The gate opener runs off a 12V DC battery and a solar charger, so in a way there's already power up there. A simple relay closure on the mailbox door could be used to send some sort of signal. Video would be better, but is that reaching for the stars?

Last night's news broadcast had info on where to sign up for the CV vaccine, so I did that during a commercial break. Only 1/3 of the available doses have been given, though, and at that rate, my group won't get a call until June. Right now they're still working on 1st responders, health care workers, and those over 75, and even that varies by county. The hold on that suspicious batch of the Moderna vaccine has been lifted, so that'll help. Glad to hear of the CV containment in Oz, Doug. When did the quarantine restrictions go into effect? Ours started at the end of January last year, but they figure almost half a million had already brought it here with them.

The days of two day Prime delivery have gone the way of the Dodo bird here as well, David. Some things arrive in four or five if they're in stock at an Amazon delivery center. If it's coming from one of the many vendors who market on Amazon, it could be up to two weeks before anything arrives.

Amazon recently announced a prescription refill service through Prime, so it makes a certain amount of sense that they could become involved in distributing the vaccine. But the two bottlenecks seem to be finding enough people that are trained to give the injections, and making enough vaccine to fill the syringes.

The triple tap on the side button works on my new fatPhone, Don. Thanks!

I like your PM for Politics idea, Buppies.

Not long after I made my post here yesterday, I got a call from a very nice lady at the French bearing distributor with which I've been having problems paying. Their system is refusing both Visa and Paypal. She forwarded instructions for sending them a wire transfer, so I spent almost an hour with a bank representative on the line while I poked and clicked through the bank website trying to make it work. What a total cluster, but it finally went through. Until an hour later when the bank sent an email notifying me that they'd stopped the wire due to security concerns. What they forgot to mention is that they'd also disabled my online access to my account, and deactivated my Visa card as well. Oh, and I have to go to the "local" branch to have my identity verified before they'll re-enable anything. That card is also the payment method for the Apple iCloud account, so no software updates are available until this is fixed, either. Yet another sign of the approaching apocalypse.:confused2:

I did manage to modify the rest of the pallets so they're pallet jack friendly now, and get another two-high stack loaded into the container. I ended up putting the full pallets on a wooden pallet, then using a vibrating cutting tool to cut away the offending plastic. The cutter was too short to make it all the way through the plastic, so a long pry bar finished the job without too much additional drama. It was pretty slow going, and I still ended up restacking two pallets because too many splits were hanging out beyond the hoops. I didn't catch that on the first four pallets, and the second stack hung up on the first one with six inches shy of being even side-by-side. With that much weight on the little pallet jack, it's all I can do to get it moving. The floor is slippery, too, so any dust has my feet sliding instead of pushing. There's a lot of weight up high in that second pallet, too, and there's no way I'm going to throw my weight against the, either. I was hoping to post a photo, but it seems to be marooned on the iPhone until the iCloud/credit card problem is resolved.:irked:

Edited post with iPhone to add photo. Happy, Ron?

The front is just coming through, from the looks of the radar map anyway. It's not raining, and the rainfall amounts in the gauges it has already passed is still zero. Just as well, as I don't particularly enjoy driving mountain roads in the rain.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Good morning all, 23 going up to 40 and Sunny!
Looks like a pleasant but chilly weekend followed by 4-5 inches of snow Mon-Tue

Drew - get the snowblower ready!
I modified my plow a bit, and let's see how it works. Left it so I can revert back to stock if needed.
L4N - sounds like a nice day to sit by a fire once the chains are done.
Thomas - dusting? Isn;t that why they make battery back pack blowers

Stay safe and be well, maybe I will pick up lunch if I get enough break from work-will be first time this year :)

yup, I see it coming, thanks
oem charger on the machine now. Actually need to take it off, they say no longer than two days
so not a smart charger at all. 110VAC starter, 7.2VDC fuel injection electronics. Makes you wonder why they
just couldn't have made them both 12V and put a real battery on the engine. Plugging an extension cord into the starter socket
isn't very hard though. Certainly does spin the engine quickly.

chains at least come off easier than they go on

For this upcoming snow, I would like to have my old Kubota back, with a snowblower out front.
Wow was that an expensive option that I did not take when I bought it. But now would. With my neck not bending
easily I'm pretty much a look forward person. And sitting in that warm cab with headphones on my head shutting out most of the noise
except some soft music, well that would be a fine winter day. Instead I'll have to enjoy your stories.
And as I'm getting wet and my glasses are fogged up, I'll be humming she's real fine my 369...

Chris

Plenty of game on the property: deer, rabbits, squirrels; salmon and trout in the lake. Oh, and geese and ducks, too. But plenty of competition, too, if it ever came to that.

Speaking of Amazon.
When I first started using Amazon It seemed like prices were a couple of cents lower than I could get the same thing elsewhere. Now it seems like things are more, but I already payed for free two day delivery. Every so often I find an item that is twice or three times more than it should be. Last week I checked colgate tooth paste it seemed like it was more than twice as much I could get it at the local discount drug store. It makes me wonder if Amazon is playing me? Do they think I am a sucker to be fleeced? I would probably do more business with Amazon if I was sure of always getting a good deal.

You do have to price compare on Amazon and do not assume they have the best or even the same price as a retail store.
Example:Amazon.com: Lysol Laundry uqcCD Sanitizer Additive, Crisp Linen, 9 Ounce (4 Pack): Home & Kitchen
Wow the link shows a price increase of $40 this morning. (was $50, now $90)
