A caution on the generic Makita batteries. I’ve got a friend that just had one catch fire on the charger. Fortunately he caught it, and was able to drag it outside by the charger line cord, but apparently it was a pretty spectacular fire, spewing flaming molten material.
He disposed of the others that he had, and is going back to al OEM batteries.

I have an older SE also through Verizon. Did you notice an appreciable difference in photo quality?
I know you get a telephoto and a wide angle lens, is it easy to choose? Arthritis in my hands makes using these
phones very difficult.

And speaking of poor eyesight, did you know that the newer versions of iOS offer a Magnifier app? Works just like the camera app, except you can also tint the image and add more contrast. The instruction sheet that came with the OtterBox screen protector was literally postage stamp size, and I don't think even a teenager would be able to read it. Magnifier made it easy to see, providing a better image than even my old timey 4" Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass.

But mine came from the Happy Blessed Fortune battery company.
How could they be bad?....
Flaming molten material, yeah baby, I'd like two please.
Bet it smelled bad too.
sounds like an internal short circuit

Thanks, I'll pay extra care to mine from now on.

I discovered an app for the iPhone camera “Camera +” that lets you adjust focus, select shutter speed, aperture, and EV as well as macro functions. It really extends the use ability of the camera.

Here's a link where you can compare any three of Apple's iPhones.

The original SE and the new 12 Pros both have 12 Mp cameras, but the 12 Pros have a much richer set of image enhancement features, as well as separate wide, ultra wide, and telephoto lenses. You get a button for each of the three lenses, and they're easy to find and tap. The big screen on the Pro Max makes it much easier to use the buttons and read the labels on those features. My fingers are starting to get a little jerky, too, and that makes a big difference for me in usability.

Image quality wise, I haven't shot enough with the new phone yet to tell. I was a little bit disappointed that the new cameras didn't have more resolution. But the image sensor has larger pixels so it can gather more light at night. I was able to take the shots above and get the lens to properly focus, which was something the old SE would never do at night. That might be due to the LIDAR assisted focusing on the Pro models. Neither image is good as I just couldn't manage to hold the phone still long enough for a sharp picture. But both the ultra wide and telephoto lens must be using that image sensor with the bigger pixels because they're both sucking in a lot more light!

I can also tell that these new cameras have a much wider dynamic range than the old one in the SE. This shot was taken well after the sun was down, and not only are details visible in the bright flames, but in the sand and dark hills as well. And what you're seeing is the .jpg version, which has lower resolution and detail than the new HEIC format you can see on the phone's screen. Not that that matters much because I don't know of any image sharing site that can use that new Apple format...

How old were the batteries, Paul? I ask because the older batteries used a different lithium chemistry than those made in the last few years. That chemistry was prone to forming dendrites that would short out and cause a massive internal discharge like the one your friend got. The new chemistry also allows a higher charge density, so you get more charge in the same size and weight package, too. That said, I try not to leave the charger plugged in when I'm not around to watch it. Trust, but verify...

Good morning all, 36 going up to 50 , still not sure why WU shows low as being higher than current on some days- clouds have rolled in

Mostly - in NJ people pass on the right since police sit on the center median :confused3:

Roll out moving along, getting worn out and still need to start documentation and second phase

Not much done besides walking dog outside.

Welcome new people to GM - good to see some new faces and pictures.

Sodamo - all complete with shipping container build-havn't seen pictures in a while
Ron - good to hear Aunt recovering- glad it got caught early. Little squirrel has winter beer gut.
Phil - congrats on the wife easing into retirement
Wng - Mule? Guess would be good for rocky slopes :)

I always like the way government people say things are free, means free for them, $ from us!

I have only 2 chargers , Makita and Milwaukee M12- The M12 batteries have lasted me 5 or 6 years. The Makita is old 9v and I have knockoff batteries to keep them running as backup. Junk batteries charged on Tile or cement floors only!

Stay safe and be well
