26 right now and looks like 3-4" of newly fallen snow outside. Tractor's plugged in and I'll head out within the hour. High in the upper 30's today.
First day back to work in 2021...:(

Poured first cup of coffee. 29° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 32° with cloudy skies. Cleaned snow off drive and walkways with tractor. Got about 4" of snow after posting yesterday. GS did a great job with toilet. I was not bad being the go-fer. Had to buy and install new mounting plate. Old one had rusted out. I needed a nap after we got done. Dr appointment in afternoon. Put all the tools away and clean up work area today.
Fresh snow fall always is calming. Especially if you do not need to go out in it.

Roy your new year at work with new boss goes well.

David, SSA calculator does not go back to my birthday year. I put maximum amount into SSA all of my working years. Today retiring at 62 will get you $2265. I did some consulting while in those early retirement years. Which added a few more $ to my monthly amount. Today paying full amount in to SSA each year and waiting until until full retirement age will get you $3011 each month. Waiting until 70 years old will get you $3790 each month.

Buckeye, New toilet came with all that was needed to install it. Except mounting ring. Seal ring was a was a rubber and wax ring. Toilet came from Sam's Club also.

LS, neat sunset picture.

Dftodd, I had safety preached to me every day a work. As the lead guy on most jobs. I tried to give the best example. But as I have gotten older. I forget stuff. Be careful.

RS, I cannot keep up with all your projects. Take a NAP please. :D

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Good morning, the temperature is 27°F and going to a high of 32. Wind S 6 mph. 30% chance of flurries. Cloudy.

I am not sure what I will be getting into today.

Safe ride to work, Roy.

Stay safe all

30 outside this AM. heading to upper 40's. Should be dry for today. Yippie.

Need to get some primer on the porch today. Made a few more dump runs yesterday to get the last of the bricks and wood out of the yard. Managed to reclaim about 14 PT 2x6x7's.
Not much else worth the time and effort. Can use them on another project. LOL.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe and stay healthy my friends.

The first work day of the New Year. Here is hoping for a much better year!

good morning all. 35 out now going up to 45 in clouds.

need to drop off a birdhouse at UPS shipping place, then off to Giant for a few food items, mostly spices I need
to do some baking. The baking cookbook my sister sent me for Christmas has me motivated.

wonder if it would do any good calling primary doc regarding vaccine. Unlike Texas, there is very little information being given out here.

Think I'll go pick up one more cedar board at lumberyard and then call it quits for the winter. Stepbrother in Colorado was told if he wanted an owl
birdhouse, he needed to pick what kind/size owl he was trying to attract. Colorado has a lot of owls in different sizes. Opening can be as large as six inches
for some.

did some research on installing wireless cameras in birdhouses. Spy camera is cheap, packaged systems are not, 120 bucks or more. Plus the camera needs power all the time and
therefore must be plugged in. I want to see if camera battery can be solar powered.

Ron, I didn’t pay the maximum SSA for the early years, but my wife did, and when she died at 66 she was at full retirement age for her. She had just officially retired that year. So I actually draw her SS, or as I’m told by them, I draw mine, plus enough if gets to make up the difference.

36 and fog, going to 46, and maybe some sun. We need it.

Ted, great cloud...looks like a hand held shower head on its side.

Ron, best pic of the year! (only 4 days in, so I know more great ones are coming).

Thanks again, Buppies for help yesterday.

Roy, hope your new tractor moved that snow well, and you have a safe drive back to work.

24F cloudy low 30's for high 1" snow fall over night.

Outside chores done E muffin time. :licking:
Plans for today...clean snow from path deck etc.,wheel barrow load of wood in basement, other than that :confused3:

Enjoy the day all.

My neighbor also said she had to check with her doctor about the vaccine. However my Mom, brother and I think Bird also did not check with their doctor just got on the list from the placed on the Texas health dept. website where the vaccine was distributed.

Yep, no mention was made of checking with ANYONE.

Morning all!
I'm not sure what the SS changes are for state pensions. I have a financial guy for that stuff. [I'm just the muscle here.] My wife and him do that stuff. LOL.
2 inches of fluffy stuff last night. 30 with no wind. I went out and shoveled the drive by hand at 5:30 am. So peaceful and quiet at that time of the morning. I love the exercise!
Wife is off to work, think I will putter today.
Need to change the light that illuminates the flag at night. LED that's only a year old. Didn't last very long.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

   / Good morning!!!! #124,934
Morning;
About 4 inches of light fluffy stuff, got my wifes car broomed off and warmed up for her to go to work.
Came back in and had more coffee, got dressed to go to town.
Got my truck broomed off and warming up now, got to go in for doc appointment,
then who knows may go to dinner for breakfast may come home for it, undecided.
Then to clean the driveway off, and do a trash run may burn some cardboard.

I'm going to make some calls this morning and see if I can at least talk to someone who knows what local distribution is.
Who knows that I'm a 70 year old guy with recent cancer treatment? Medicare? No one had talked to my primary as of last week, so
who has the authority to make these decisions? And where do they get the information other than age and address?

Ken and Paul, have you heard anything about distribution methods in this area?
I know my SIL drove all the way to DE for a shot, she's a baby nurse.

In today's Information Age, this lack of information is worrisome.
I'm guessing February at best.

will start with primary doc again, hate to bother them with call.

This is a huge undertaking. I hope they get it right.
Should have a pool on who gets the vaccination percentages right by end of year.
I'm guessing 66 percent.
Will be wearing masks in public places for awhile.

and then I hope we can move forward, talk about something else, enjoy our restaurant
dinners out and even a hug or two.

Phil, being the muscle is just fine. Takes many hands to carry the load.

be careful in the snow guys, no falls and dings.

   / Good morning!!!! #124,937
Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 5:00 AM. Cloudy and windy at times with periods of rain. Thunder possible. High 56F. Winds SSE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
Looks like we picked up about a tenth of an inch of rain overnight, with more on the way later in the day.

Pretty shot of your pond, Ron. Do you keep the pump on to keep it from freezing? Sounds like your doctor friend got a rough ride from his Advantage plan. What's the advantage to an Advantage plan, just the lower premiums? Sounds like my experience with Kaiser: Really low premiums, but the care left much to be desired.

Good luck with your camera search, Drew. Lots of us would like a nestcam!

I used a 7" cutoff wheel on the 4 1/2" angle grinder when I took apart the FEL on the L3240, RS. That one scared me, and I wore safety glasses AND a face shield, heavy gloves, along with a respirator and ear muffs. I've had the Warrior blades get a little rough around the edge, and if I ease up long enough it'll wear it self round again. Push too hard and it'll tear itself apart, but not explode like the Bauers seem prone to do. Good point about covering your neck, too, DF.

There's a pair of UFOs in that lenticular cloud, Ted.

I couldn't agree more, Mike, medical insurance/expenses are very daunting. The premiums could well end up being my largest monthly expense. Glad you're working your way through to a good ending.

Got two more pallets fixed up with hoops yesterday, and still have steel ready for another pair. But I'm out of the correct size bolts to install them. It seems I got bit rather badly by a contaminated bolt bin at TS last time, and have to take eleven of them back to get the right size. Think I'll give that business to the True Value Hardware store in the future.

Hope everyone's work year gets off to a great start today!

I dunno, Drew. I'm hearing rumors that infection rates for the common cold and regular influenza are way down this season. I usually get at least one head cold by this time of year, but not this time around. If wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer, and keeping social distance can keep me healthy, I might just keep doing these things in future cold seasons.

Good morning, back to work for me, 32 going up to 45 and cloudy. Not supposed to rain for a while.

LS - that cloud picture is amazing.

Roy - hope your new boss is good to work with and makes the transition smooth for you

Phil - same issue with LEDs , incandescents used to last 5 years or more, the compact florescents came out and incandescent and CFL only started lasting 2 years.:confused3: LEDs seem to start failing at 3 years - LED chip is fine, circuit board seems to fail.

Drew - Wife works for a school, told around March - PA seems to be running behind other states. Don't have much other info, nurse friend got hers last week. Will see what I can find out.

Thanks BEF - guess I will just take VHS tape somewhere to convert. Had converted all my digital tapes way back when and put them and pics on a PLex/vortex server. Waiting for some SATA disk to come so I can set up a NAS to have some redundancy on our pics/movies and other often accessed data.

Work is going to be crazy with a cross US project I am rolling out in the next two weeks. Starts tomorrow-should be wonderfully nerve racking.

Stay safe and be well

Good morning.
It’s 33 and overcast with drizzle forecast through the day, temps up to the upper 30’s.

Actually had a couple of inches of snow yesterday, it was a good excuse to run the tractor. Spent threat of the day tinkering in the shop, a friend brought over a Harmon Kardon cassette deck from the early eighties to se if I could fix it for him. Lucky for him, it was a simple mechanical fix that didn’t involve parts.

I can’t wait to see what today has in store.

Wife and daughter got vaccinated at the hospitals that employ them. Not sure where I’ll have to go.

Drew, you will likely save a fair amount if you print your label and pay for your shipping at ups.com. You can then just drop off your package at the UPS store. I discovered that when I checked a rate online, and then was charged almost double that at the shipping place.
