Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 6:15AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 56F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Rainfall accumulation in the 10-day forecast has gone from just shy of five inches yesterday to less than two this morning. Not a good start for the new year.
TBN didn't get off to a very good start for me either this morning, refusing to load for about an hour earlier.
As a member of an age group that has an increased likelihood of death if infected with CoVid 19, I would not like to be imprisoned in a nursing home or hospital that allowed unvaccinated employees inside areas where "guests" have access. Just like right now I try to avoid being around people that refuse to wear masks or practice social distancing. People have a right to make their own choices, but no one has a right to engage in activities that cause harm to others.:2cents:
Can't name that bird this morning, Ron, but if I had to guess, I'd say maybe a female scarlet Tanninger?:confused3:
It may be a while yet before 5G networks are very wide spread, but the increased capacity they'll offer, as well as their higher speeds, will make for a better user experience. Just doesn't make any sense to me to buy a new phone that is already obsolete, especially since I tend to keep a phone four or five years.
Hauling wood! Rich, yer comin' back real fast! But Lethal Weapon was a better string of Christmas Movies, but again that's just my opinion...
Mother Nature called shortly before midnight, waking me from a sound sleep. I heard a few distant booms, which were nothing compared to the idiot neighbor shooting at I don't know what in the twilight last night.:irked:
Neat photo, Eric!
I was thinking about all you Texans yesterday when I read about the big snow storm headed your way. Glad to not be reading about any of you having to shovel the driveway or drive in it.
Think maybe that kitten is down to six lives now, Bill?
Years ago I gave up using Quicken to manage a budget and track expenses, and I haven't balanced a bank statement in that long, either. Keeping paper receipts in yearly folders is as close to organized as I get these days.:ashamed:
Never thought of using one of those power shears on Formica, Rick. I've tried aviation snips, and they splinter it, but I'll have to give the big Dewalt power shear I got last year a try.
Good luck with HughsNet and a repair, Paul. I get similar speeds, have talked with their "tech support" until I'm blue in the face, and have seen no improvement. If the comments I read on their user forums are any guide, I'm not alone in my experience.
Have you tried gen-u-wine Stihl chain, Kyle? Yeah, it's more expensive, but it holds an edge a lot longer, at least if I do my part and keep it out of the dirt. That includes dirt on the bark. I've seen Klim gear worn by the "heros" in several reality shows, but they never seem to wear it for long. Wonder why that is? The Kaiser Tool gal offered me two grades of carbide to choose from. I don't know carbide from my left elbow, so I asked her to pick for me and she chose D2. I guess we'll see when the ThinBits get here how well they work. Hope the rain sticks around for you, and I couldn't follow those Sherlock Holmes movies at all.:confused2:
2020 was supposed to be a strong recovery year after the 2018 Camp Fire, but I didn't make near the progress I'd hoped for. With recent events, don't see things getting back to normal anytime soon, either. Not a very hopeful outlook for 2021 from where I sit.
I did get another pallet taken apart yesterday, and made a start on another. The carbide tipped blades for the Makita demo saw worked pretty well on the tubing, but sheet metal causes the coarse teeth to break off. Not good when one blade costs seven bux. I think the little portable bandsaw is easier to use, but it won't get to some of the places the reciprocating saw does. So it's another case of using the right tool for the job, or more accurately, knowing when not to use the wrong one.
Here's wishing you all a happy, prosperous, and healthy New Year!
