Good Morning and Happy New Year
It’s 23 here with a high of 37 forecast along with rain starting this afternoon.

Not much planned for today other than cooking dinner. Standing rib roast, steak fries and spinach/kale mix.

I was actually awake at midnight, the original Die Hard movie was on the tube, and it was entertaining enough to keep me awake. My wife slept through it no problem. Amazing how young Bruce Willis was. Watched you only live twice before that and made the same observation about Sean Connery

Happy new year!
Happy birthday Roy!
24 here going to 32. Should be the first sunny day here in a while. I never got to see the Christmas star as we had clouds every night.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Good morning All.

Happy New Year . 25 and frosty here this morning. Supposed to get to mid thirties with rain arriving this afternoon.

Wife and I went to bed at our normal time last night, but were awakened at 11:30pm by neighbors shooting of some large fireworks. I guess they had a severe case of ‘premature exposition’ . By midnight they could only manage a single rocket. 2 of our 3 dogs were crowded onto our bed as they really do not like fireworks.

Hope everyone’s 2021 is off to a good start!

Frank

Happy New Year guys!

Happy birthday Roy.

Pop, you really like prime rib, don’t you? Every time I look you’re cooking another roast! LOL
I can’t say anything, I had it for lunch yesterday and probably will have it for dinner tomorrow after I’m tired of peas, greens, ham and cornbread. Actually I never get tired of real cornbread, but that’s another story.

40-49 today with heavy rain through tonight then again tomorrow night.

I’m eating cereal this morning to save room for peas.

Have a day blessed by the good Lord.

Good morning! 28 now, freezing rain this morning, just a few sprinkles so far. 42 this afternoon and rain this afternoon.

Happy New Year everyone! Happy Birthday Roy.

Die Hard.....missed it so far this year...one of my favorite Christmas movies. 的t痴 not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off the Nakatomi building  I am not much into pop culture, but Allan Rickman (Hans Gruber) was likely my favorite actor. Brilliant in his craft.

Recovery continues. Just keep working on getting strength and endurance back. I am now bringing in wood and taking care of the wood burner. Handling the wood wears me out, but progress each day.

Everyone stay safe out there

Good Morning! 39˚F heading to the 40s, west wind, mostly sunny.

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday Roy. Started the day with a stimulus present from Uncle Sam. That was fast. But interesting - do I pay taxes on it next year since it was deposited at 2 A. M.

Rick the place to sign up for the vaccination is the HEB pharmacy website. You cannot sign-up yet they will open it up once they get more vaccine in. It appears they give the first shot and then hold back enough vaccine to give the second shot - that lag time is what is holding up the distribution, to increase the speed of distribution they are considering giving out all the vaccine and give the second shot with the new arriving vaccine. But that would really be relying on the distribution process. I'm sure the people like Bird that have had their first injection want to be sure their second injection has not been given away and there is no delay in the second.

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 6:15AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 56F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Rainfall accumulation in the 10-day forecast has gone from just shy of five inches yesterday to less than two this morning. Not a good start for the new year.

TBN didn't get off to a very good start for me either this morning, refusing to load for about an hour earlier.

As a member of an age group that has an increased likelihood of death if infected with CoVid 19, I would not like to be imprisoned in a nursing home or hospital that allowed unvaccinated employees inside areas where "guests" have access. Just like right now I try to avoid being around people that refuse to wear masks or practice social distancing. People have a right to make their own choices, but no one has a right to engage in activities that cause harm to others.:2cents:

Can't name that bird this morning, Ron, but if I had to guess, I'd say maybe a female scarlet Tanninger?:confused3:

It may be a while yet before 5G networks are very wide spread, but the increased capacity they'll offer, as well as their higher speeds, will make for a better user experience. Just doesn't make any sense to me to buy a new phone that is already obsolete, especially since I tend to keep a phone four or five years.

Hauling wood! Rich, yer comin' back real fast! But Lethal Weapon was a better string of Christmas Movies, but again that's just my opinion...

Mother Nature called shortly before midnight, waking me from a sound sleep. I heard a few distant booms, which were nothing compared to the idiot neighbor shooting at I don't know what in the twilight last night.:irked:

Neat photo, Eric!

I was thinking about all you Texans yesterday when I read about the big snow storm headed your way. Glad to not be reading about any of you having to shovel the driveway or drive in it.

Think maybe that kitten is down to six lives now, Bill?

Years ago I gave up using Quicken to manage a budget and track expenses, and I haven't balanced a bank statement in that long, either. Keeping paper receipts in yearly folders is as close to organized as I get these days.:ashamed:

Never thought of using one of those power shears on Formica, Rick. I've tried aviation snips, and they splinter it, but I'll have to give the big Dewalt power shear I got last year a try.

Good luck with HughsNet and a repair, Paul. I get similar speeds, have talked with their "tech support" until I'm blue in the face, and have seen no improvement. If the comments I read on their user forums are any guide, I'm not alone in my experience.

Have you tried gen-u-wine Stihl chain, Kyle? Yeah, it's more expensive, but it holds an edge a lot longer, at least if I do my part and keep it out of the dirt. That includes dirt on the bark. I've seen Klim gear worn by the "heros" in several reality shows, but they never seem to wear it for long. Wonder why that is? The Kaiser Tool gal offered me two grades of carbide to choose from. I don't know carbide from my left elbow, so I asked her to pick for me and she chose D2. I guess we'll see when the ThinBits get here how well they work. Hope the rain sticks around for you, and I couldn't follow those Sherlock Holmes movies at all.:confused2:

2020 was supposed to be a strong recovery year after the 2018 Camp Fire, but I didn't make near the progress I'd hoped for. With recent events, don't see things getting back to normal anytime soon, either. Not a very hopeful outlook for 2021 from where I sit.

I did get another pallet taken apart yesterday, and made a start on another. The carbide tipped blades for the Makita demo saw worked pretty well on the tubing, but sheet metal causes the coarse teeth to break off. Not good when one blade costs seven bux. I think the little portable bandsaw is easier to use, but it won't get to some of the places the reciprocating saw does. So it's another case of using the right tool for the job, or more accurately, knowing when not to use the wrong one.

Here's wishing you all a happy, prosperous, and healthy New Year!

well what goes up must come down...
inside Christmas stuff packed away, taking a break from 7 trips up and down
cellar steps. Now headed outside on a grey and cold day to take down the outside lights.
Need to find the right size box to put them in, but no matter how careful I am they
will surely be snarled in a knot when I go to use them next. I do unintentional knots a lot better
than intentional ones.

Happy new year all.
Happy Birthday Roy.

Up at the crack of 10.
Freezing rain is today’s forecast.
Going to close my quicken books on 2020.
Did get several more DVDs converted last night. Got my first vhs camera in 1985. Wasn’t a cam corder, was a camera you hook up to a portable vhs deck. Still have it. Had camcorder by 1988, When we went to Alaska. Working on converting those now.
Had to reboot computer 1 more time yesterday, new computer comes Monday. Son’s screen acting up on his computer, new one might be his, should order another while on sale. Dell 15” I7 w/ 1 TB ssd and gaming graphic card.

My stimulus showed pending in my account last night. Even trade for the computer.

My stimulus showed pending in my account last night. Even trade for the computer.

Ours shows as "Pending," also. So Don, it will be a 2021 event.

Most of the fireworks I heard last night were around 7pm...maybe celebrating British New Years? I stayed awake until about 11:45pm, and then my wife woke me with 15 seconds to go...so saw the countdown on TV and kissed in the new year before fading out again.

I got sleepy early, VERY early, yesterday evening, and went to bed. We were getting a little drizzling rain. My wife stayed up and said we had a downpour, the electricity went off twice, but back on quickly. So this morning I went out and poured about 1.85" of rain out of the gauge. And the rain had blow in from the north halfway across the patio/deck.

Last night was the second night since getting the Moderna covid-19 vaccine and my arm was more sore last night than it has been, but no visible problem and today the soreness seems to be getting better. So . . . it appears that the most soreness and discomfort is 2 days after the vaccination. BUT it's ALL relatively mild; not a problem.

And as with others, my bank account has for a couple of days shown the stimulus pending; shows that it'll be deposited on the 4th of January.

Good morning, 36 going up to 38 and it says sunny, but the clouds disagree!
Happy New Years-
We did a Zoom new years last night, was fun but not the same as going visiting for sure.
Lots of fireworks going off here, followed by lots of shooting this morning-I guess many of the hunters did not stay up late and slept through the fireworks?

Drew - We have been on the New Hope train many times. The staff there is great at maintaining the trains and tracks-they all really love their jobs.
DFTodd - Some perfumes choke me, I hate going into some stores like Macy's as they seem to disperse perfume around the whole store. Sorry to hear about the wifes multi-shift and forced volunteerism.
Happy birthdays to the ladies!
Happy birthday Roy, and many more healthy ones to come!

May 2021 be a great year for all- up till 4am and back up at 8:30 to walk the dog- no power tools for me today.

64°F and .47 inches rain.
Happy New Year

Have to get my rib roast on the Primo to slow cook.

Wx forecast looks like repeat of yesterday’s so probably no mowing

Maybe finish up last year’s budget consolidation. Looks like we managed to end on a positive note. Boy, I remember the days when the end of money came before end of the week or month. Don’t miss them

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

You and me both. This year (2020) so far I haven't had to roll up the loonies and toonies in my piggy bank to meet the bills. It sure is a nice feeling.:cool2:
