A little back story then the meat of the matter. We leave the water in the bath tub after a bath due to hydro being so erratic and the well pump not being on the genny. The orange kitten got adventuresome today and discovered the bathtub...Half full of water. This is a 110 gallon tub and he blindly jumped into it. I will just bet that he had fun jumping out of it. He ran into my cave sopping wet.

I’ll likely make it to midnight, but Sophie won’t. We’ll share some asti.

Dang wx hasn’t allowed me to finish mowing and rain now forecast thru 5PM.
A good time for me to start my annual spreadsheet redoes. I close out all the financial ones as of today, make any format adjustments, and start fresh 1/1. Being a glutton for punishment all our accounts are in individual spreadsheets linked together in a large file. This weekend I’ll likely take the opportunity to go over them with Sophie. Thanks for reminder, Rich. Her sisters tease her that should something happen to me she wouldn’t have a clue as to managing our finances. Actually most things are set up with direct deposits and auto payments, except taxes, property taxes, auto registrations and house insurance. Would be interesting how long they could live hands off. Maybe something to look at, making sure the auto payments are tied to proper income accounts. She’s actually very good financially, always managing to save regardless of income. I always get her cash when she wants it, then I can borrow it back when I need it because she so rarely spends it.

Looks like today will be good opportunity for a dump run also.

Disappointing to hear from our Governor that 60% of nursing home staffs have elected not to take the COVID vaccine.

That just seems crazy to me. There have been some truly heart breaking stories about the virus getting into nursing homes. You would think that the staffs would want to do everything they can to avoid that stuff.

Chris

Yeah ... sadly, there's a lot of crazy going around these days ... :confused3:

The Governor says the state will not force people to get the vaccine ... but that doesn't mean companies couldn't mandate it as a condition of employment - particularly those companies which have employees in close proximity to high-risk populations.

I don’t have a work light on my new tractor, but I don’t work in the dark anymore. And If I ever got the urge to plow snow at night I can light up all 120’ of driveway like it’s daylight, so my headlights don’t even come into play.

I dump all my cat litter in the woods a long way from the house.

I’m not worried about staying up until midnight, I might get a nap in my recliner and wake up in time, or I might not. I’m not too eager to ring in the new year, but I want to be darn sure the old one leaves!
Amen, brother!!

My step daughter has two cats and it cost me money to dispose of it at the dump. We have 9 acres, a couple lawn, the rest unimproved (I do mow a few acres of the unimproved field). I'm thinking a trip to the field once or twice a week might be a better (cheaper) way to dispose of cat litter

I think there is reluctance to make the vaccine mandatory due to its emergency approval status. I suspect once fully approved we’ll see a lot of mandatory.

Was talking with a friend the other day and we were bemoaning our dearth of social engagement (parties). So I said, I’d being willing to host in near future, just bring proof of vaccination.

If you have a back ho, then just dig a hole in the unimproved sections. Just do the same as when you had an outhouse.

sodamo, I didn't get to see much of him, he ran under the bed and stayed there for about 2 hours. He's spent the last hour on my lap, all nice and dry compliments of his tongue.

The owner of the nursing home my wife works for has multiple homes across the state.

He informed all the administrators that if an employee doesn't take the vaccine then to remove that employee from the schedule indefinitely.

I wished my wife would have gotten them to give that to her in writing. My inner a**hole would have come out.

As it is they made all the employees sign a waiver saying they were voluntarily taking the vaccine.

Again, my inner a**hole wanted to come out since it's not voluntary if your removed from the schedule if you don't take it.

My wife chose to take the vaccine. But the implied threat if she didn't take it, didn't sit right with me.

They had 13 employees quit today. Not sure how many from the rest of the facilities.

They tried to get my wife to cover some of the shifts. She's worked 168 hours in the past two weeks, and hasn't had a day off in almost four weeks.

She told them to get bent She will be back to work Monday for the start of her normal shift.

Can’t say that I really agree with that approach by her employer ... at least as far as the waiver goes.

That didn't sit right with me either.

Hence my inner a**hole wanting to come out.

Someone would have had the company by the short and curley's if they could have gotten it in writing saying they would be removed from the schedule for not taking the vaccine and then showing the waiver saying they were voluntarily taking the vaccine.

Looks like Colorado County .. gets none.

Wow, No vaccine for you. You might have to go to Giddings at least they have started a list to get on.

HEB was really crowded this morning even though it was poring rain and 37˚F. In front of the pharmacy department there were 8 chairs 10' apart and a table with 2 chairs and hand sanitizer (to fill out forms). but there were no people waiting because they have not started Phase 1-b at that store. They have not said how it will administered or when they will start. HEB is not on the list either Rick, just the hospitals in my county are on the list.

Bird, Moderna's second injection is to be given 28 days after the initial injection, mark your calendar, it sounds like the clinic is a little rusty, I'd call them a few days before to make sure you have not been forgotten.

The snow came close only about 50 miles away but the rains have stopped now. We got 2.3" of rain the last two days, both rain gauges are only .03 difference, the temp never got above 39 today.

Amazon must be caught up in this area they delivered my non-prime order in less than 48 hours.
