Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #122,501
47F and cloudy @ 21:00, headed down to an overnight low of 43F.

Sounds like everyone had a pretty good Thanksgiving ...

I actually started this post about ten hours ago ... but got waylaid by the festivities and the preparations. This morning I had started to write:

Was up until the wee hours last night, looking at various tiles and coming up with a plan and a rough idea on a design. Also looking at and researching shower valve and head combos.

The overall look is going to be retro, possibly infused with modern on the fixtures.

I just had a brief conversation with The Woman (that was around 11:00 this morning) and gave a little report on my findings ... but she is (was) laser-focused on pie making and needs to concentrate. And I certainly don't want to distract her from that ...

Thanksgiving-fully, by the time I went to bed the sharp pain had largely subsided ... and I felt pretty good this morning when I got up. I guess continuing to move around a bit (but avoiding any real strenuous activity ... outside of unloading the groceries and the Menards/Home Depot orders ...) has somewhat shifted things back into place, spinally-speaking.

I believe there was a question posed at one point about chiropractors. I have received chiropractic treatments most of my adult life and the quality of the results has varied, according to the specific practitioner, and the methodology/school of treatment they subscribe to. Typically, my best results were where they just focused on manipulating my spine (or even ribs) ... often quite forcefully ... sometimes coupled with heat therapy.

I have found that usually getting an adjustment once every two to four weeks worked well, although it has been at least a year or more since I've gotten one.

One of the last guys I was seeing (before he retired) basically said that various bending and stretching exercises would probably eliminate 80% of his practice - if followed regularly. In fact, he gave me a little booklet on that, which I have around here some place.

Fast forward to now:

Dinner is over and the kitchen is mostly cleaned up and food put away.

She did the pies, stuffing, and gravy, I did the green bean casserole, and we tag-teamed on the bird:

IMG_0710 copy.jpg

And Bob Evans did the mashed potatoes ...

All of it was very delicious ... even if someone did get a little carried away with the sage on the stuffing ...

As Drew mentions: still too full for pie ... though I'll bet it might not be too long before someone is in the kitchen with the mixer out, whipping up the cream ... ;)

Certainly many things to be thankful for this season ... not the least of which is a nice lap and a pair of warm hands:

That's Squeak's story at any rate ... and she's sticking to it.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Good evening all. 44F for the start, clear sky breezy. High cirrus clouds, windy, and high temp was 69F. Rode solo early this morning, one of the rider's SO got Covid so he could not go and ride fell apart. Great weather to ride in and contemplate what all I have to be thankful for. Went to Stepdaughter's for dinner, prime rib, backed potato, salad, sweet potato, brussel sprouts wrapped in bacon and crescent rolls, and deviled eggs, and pumpkin pie for desert. Whipped cream had vanilla liqueur added with a side car of bourbon infused Bailey's knockoff. Really good stuff. Haven't eaten since :)

That was pretty much it. It was a canyon road, and that was the first tight corner after miles of wide open sweepers. He was chasing a couple of much more experienced buddies who had left him far behind. When he realized he was into it to hot, he mashed the rear brake, causing the back end to slide out. Then he released the brake, and the bike high sided, vaulting him off the saddle onto the road. It landed in back of him on it's side, going saddle first into my front wheel. I think he hit the crash guard around my left jug, but I was upside down at the time and couldn't see.

Turns out that kind of thing happens pretty frequently on the roads around the SF Bay Area. Most roads in the mountains and canyons are nice and curvy, with great scenery, too. And they're all swarming with bikes on weekends. I hardly ever ride on weekends now, either, unless I have to get home from a trip. But I stay away from the big cities where folks like this guy live.

Sorry you had to go through all that.

Good morning! Happy Thanksgiving!
The pecan pie is ready for the oven.View attachment 677837

RNG this is from our Cathy Fisher's "Straight Up Food" cookbook page 174. Sweet potato-pecan pie.

Looks really good. Hope it tasted same.

Like the old saying goes..."Not where your going to get it but when" :(
My when was in 06 driver roll thru stop sign left ankle took it hard,6 months cussing before walking good again.
Sold 2017 U-Glide 2018 since wife and I felt riding wasn't as safe as it use to be around here, but kept the chopper I put together and take her spin several times years.

Nice ride....but only on a very smooth road, with a kidney belt.

Great news Ron continues prayers sent

Wife and I enjoyed nice turkey dinner this afternoon beautiful sunset now football time

Kyle hope turkey day was nice for you and your family

Thank you, it was nice....glad yours was nice too. We fed 15. Put a big dent in a #22lb toikey. 2 packages of pepperidge farm cornbread stuffing....wiped out. Same for apple pie. A good time was had by all. No group W bench problems.

Ron, glad to hear better news of your son.

rs, that kitty is pretty cute.

So I was showing off the Steiner, and tried the weight distribution for the first time.....and that hose I pointed out (and the one Don pointed out) burst when I got up around 4-500 psi. So I need 2 hoses now, and still some bearings. And a bottle of "Shout" cleaner to get my shirt and shorts clean of hydraulic spots.

GT80, can't remember if I told y'all, but I did find a NOS piston for it. Awaiting it's arrival to determine cylinder's needs. Hope to have to hang on tight when I get it right. Will order rings when I'm sure about piston/cylinder fit.

Happy that all seemed to have had a Happy Thanksgiving.

sorry your ride fell apart. That dinner sounds 5 star. You might have to pedal a bit to work it off. :) Love Baileys. I'm trying to remember what a Milk Stout is???

She is very relaxed.

Alternates between that and bouncing off the walls ...

It's pretty much a daily (hourly ?) occurrence any time The Woman is around and sitting down ... Squeak wants to be held.

Otherwise she wants treats ... or tuna ...

Squeak looks a lot like my Smokie.

She does.

What age is Smokie ?

good morning all
up too early, went to bed too early, still full from last night
lovely day today, 43 out now going up to 60 in mostly sunshine.
I'm picking up an old friend and we are going tree hunting this morning, just a small one for me, all that will fit in my car.
Since it was nice yesterday afternoon, trees should have dried out from rain in the morning so maybe I'll get the tree put up and trimmed
later today.

Need to turn on all the solar xmas lights today so they can come on tonight. There is an on/off button and a mode button and I'm always pushing the wrong one...
At least yesterday afternoon's sun and today should have charged the batteries.

RS, great picture of Squeak. That is one contented cat.
I bet a lot of other family critters were happy yesterday with tidbits found for them
Mostly, prime rib sounds very good.

Good morning all. Last night's fog has lifted, just in time for me to go off to a friends farm and load muck for the rest of the day. A 14 sided oil filter cup removal tool arrived yesterday. With that on and a breaker bar for leverage, the old can finally decided it was game over.

Now if the Brits could only learn how to cook...eel pie, blood pudding, arrghhhh. :D

You forgot spotted dick. :)

I will let you in on a little secret, but please do not tell anyone else, or I will be hauled away for treason.

In this country we have to eat slightly disgusting foodstuffs, give disturbing names to tasty deserts, retain ludicrous spelling, drive on the wrong side of the road, have extensive training to actually enjoy warm beer, and so many other things, all to dissuade too many descendants who left these shores from ever moving back. We would love to welcome everyone, but the truth is Americans have been so good at breeding that if there were to be as a mass exodus back here now, this little island would surely sink. :D

Good morning folks

35 now and foggy high around 50 and cloudy today, may see some sun late afternoon. Got a little over 0.5” of rain yesterday.

Woke up to a couple of owls hooting at each other, love the sound, hope they had mice for breakfast!

Not much planned for today just putter around and take it easy.

Enjoy your day everyone
