Frist cup of coffee is cooling. 36° with light rain this morning. Heading to 47° with off and on rain. Got some of my winter prep done yesterday. Tractor still waiting to have snow blade put on and greased. No rush. No snow forecast until later next week. May get Christmas tree up today. No other plans.

Looking, I had a conveyor similar to yours. Used it for hay and firewood back in the 70's. I think it was a New Idea. Sides folded up to make it into a grain elevator. Worked very well.

Riptides, good to hear porch project is moving forward.

Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Wngsprd !!! Great picture.

LS, good looking cupcakes. You think your wife could make enough to send out to all the Good Morning Crew? :licking::D

David, trim looks good.

Drew, sounds like a good plan for Thanksgiving Day.

RS, I have the Moultrie feeder and game cam. Both work very well. Do not expect mounting strap to last very long. Deer are very ruff on feeder tiring to get that last piece of feed. Mine is mounted on a pole with a couple of clamps.

Every stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Buppies - I too hope you are doing well.
wngsprd - Happy Anniversary. That's a great accomplishment these days! Nice pic. Love the mountains. You do Bear Fence yet? I am sure you have.

Time to recover the critter cam from the barn. I'll bet it is a racoon chasing all the cats out.

Have a great day all.

Good morning. It’s 38 now, probably gonna gain 10 degrees throughout the day. Looks like a rainy thanksgiving.

Yesterday was a busy day, helped youngest son with his machining / gunsmithing project, ventured out for my meetings. Airport meeting was outside with masks and it was a beautiful day. The meeting went well.

When I got back home I was able try out the Makita cordless chainsaw. I was quite impressed. It cut through a 12” log about as easily as my trusty old Stihl 026. I made about a dozen or more cuts and battery indicators were still showing all the bars.

I picked up a cheap dolly at harbor freight and added some scrap lumber to it to store the 3 PT auger. I had it on a nice heavy duty dolly cribbed up as a proof of concept, this freed up my good dolly, replacing it with a $15 one. IMG_5248.jpg

My wife is picking up the turkey from Bolton’s Turkey farm today, I’m going to bake some pies and make fresh cranberry/orange/pineapple relish. Tomorrow going to try cooking the stuffed turkey in the new convection oven.

Congrats to Mr& Mrs wngsprd, it’s not as common as it once was to stay married past 4 decades. I’m proud to say that we started our 47th year in August.

Eric, can you bury pets? Why do farm animals have to be rendered instead of buried? I know some farmers here that don't bury, but drag them into the woods for the vultures and other animals to eat. Is that illegal, too?

Wng, my guess at the answer to the render question that is we have too many bureaucrats who are either lazy or not smart enough to devise appropriate rules for what is sensible, they just find it easier to ban everything. All farm animals have to be carted away.

On the upside, we are allowed to bury pets.

My family can also still dig a hole to get rid of me one day - though technically that is only legal if I am dead before they put me in the ground. :)

   / Good morning!!!! #122,388
wngsprd, happy anniversary to you two! My late wife and I were married 42 years, hard to believe 42 years can be the blink of an eye.

33-62 today, 54 overnight with rain moving in. Thanksgiving looks like a wet warm one here.
We are doing our dinner Saturday, so tomorrow will be football, parades and early prep for dinner. It will seem strange.

I worked on the ramp to the overhead door in the tractor shed yesterday. Someday I might fab up an aluminum unit. If I could find what I need, not paying new prices for it.
I love metal and fiberglass fabrication, and I’m capable of carpentry grade woodwork, built all three of my decks and steps, but I could never get into woodworking.
I admire what some of you do, just never had the interest. I was always happier with an engine on my stand in pieces, or a sander and paint gun.

Have a good one.

Good morning all. Sun just breaking through after a damp start to the day.

A friend rang yesterday and asked if I would come over and load cow muck into his spreader while the weather was still dry. At the time I was underneath the tractor draining off the engine oil and I said sure, will soon have finished. I should know better than to tempt fate like that - the oil filter refused to come off. While it was under warranty I had it serviced by the dealer and the lad that came last time had a lot of muscle, unfortunately it looks like he may have used some of that in over tightening the filter. My filter strap which uses a 1/2" ratchet wrench for leverage couldn't move it, it started to crease the can. Local auto store said normally they could get me a socket cup removal tool in by this morning, but this stupid "Black Friday" concept could be clogging deliveries for days to come. Deep breath and remind myself I'm retired now, no need to rush anything, there is always another day...

Phil, sorry to hear about your wife's birthday news, hope the new vehicle cheers her up.

Wng, happy anniversary. Apples and beautiful views are dominating your life at the moment - yesterday eating that one on Rocky mountain and tomorrow you will be telling us you have been gazing at the "the apple of my eye".

L4N, loading wood with that conveyor looks like it will be good fun. I see a long rope running to an emergency stop, do you tie that to your ankle, or some other part ? :confused2: :)

48°F and light rain this morning, going up to 59° today. A chance for more rain later today.

Wife was up prep cooking already when I left for work at 6am this morning. She already had a pot of eggs and one with sweet potatoes boiling away on the stove. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday.

Happy anniversary, wngsprd.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO David! Hope you have many more !

I tried to call the Manager at the Walmart.... numerous times... just kept ringing. I felt my BP rising, so just left a bad Google review and called it quits.... not worth continuing the aggravation.

The temp never got above 42..and was windy at 25-35 mph..... decided not to go out to the shop today. The grandson is now "off" from school until next Monday, so the pressure to finish it is reduced. However, now there are TWO requests for toy chests.... I better keep moving... glad I bought those new saw blades and sanding discs.... new router should be delivered tomorrow.... just in time!

Drew, your shop is coming together very nicely! Nice looking saw.

Stayed in the house mostly all day, smelling the made from scratch, buttercream filled chocolate cupcakes that the wifey was making... mmmmm. I self appointed myself to be the quality control officer..... they all passed. 2 dozen remaining...

Then she started "par-cooking" her infamous meat stuffing for thanksgiving.... another major olfactory event!

Glad there were some cupcakes to calm your blood pressure back down. Actually, glad you recognized BP was going up and decided to take alternate path.

41 outside this AM. Heading to mid 50's. Woke up to low water pressure again. Looks like the water polo ponies wanted to swim some more. Darn watered got jammed again. Will have to put the critter cam out there and see which one is doing it and how. I slam my hand into it and cannot cause it to stick, so I have no idea. Wife will call the company when everyone wakes up.

More porch work on order for the next few days.

Mostly, the demo work is just the three outside walls, framing only, that is holding up the porch roof. I am laying the decking down slowly. And taking out the framing as I get near it. Recall, it used to be an "inside" room.

I need to call the tax adjuster too, removing some 400 square feet of indoor house space.

Hope all are where they need to be. Hope all have a great day. Be safe. Stay healthy my friends. Happy Thanksgiving.

Hope you get all your water issues figured out. I would double think calling the tax man....he might think your open porch ADDS value to your home....

Trying to decide what to do for our 42nd anniversary today. Some of our favorites aren't possible this year. Maybe spend some time just gazing into her eyes.

Mountains were pulling hard on me yesterday, so went to Shenandoah and hiked Rocky Mountain and Brown Mountain. Wore myself out. Didn't see a single car on the Skyline Drive for the 10+ miles I had to drive to the trailhead, nor did I see anyone on the trail. Beautiful and very remote place. Now I know why they named it Rocky Mountain. Here's where I ate my apple for lunch.

Decisions, decisions,,,what to do for anniversary. pssssst....ask her what she'd like to do....unless you have a cool surprise in store. Happy Anniversary wng and wifey. (I'll bet she has beautiful eyes.)

Thanks for the prayers for my daughter. She is doing well, but getting a bit sassy as her teenager self. She is a great kid. She tutored a girl who fell behind in math (cuz she was doing virtual school), and really helped her out.

I took off yesterday and today. It is cool and breezy this Am. It got up to 82F yesterday, with strong southeast winds. Oak trees have lost about half their leaves. Waiting for the rest to fall.

THE STEINER LIVES!!! Took her for a spin last night, albeit with many of the covers off. Need to do another spin in the daylight. Check out more stuff. You have to remove a bolt, and slide a bar over to change from Low to High speed. It is in low right now. It has a slight creep backwards when foot is off the pedal. Need to adjust that. Lights work. Tach/hour meter works, temp gage works. Debating on tearing PTO clutch apart to replace bearings. I need to buy a quarter ton of bearings...and rustoleum.

Good mourning folks

30 now high around 36 overcast with some snow showers,
may get some sleet and freezing drizzle before it rains tonight.
I hope it stays above freezing for those that are traveling.

Back is doing way better after a day and a half of inaction.
I need to remember I'm not 30 anymore lol.
Not anything planned for today either.

David - hope you had an enjoyable birthday and dinner.
Happy anniversary to wngsprd and his better half.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 8:00AM. Mainly sunny. High 61F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
The best we can manage for rain is 0.03" next Monday.:(

Good news on the Steiner, Kyle!

Good progress in the wood shops, Ted and Drew!

Hope you get things turned around out in the horse pasture, Mike.

That conveyor looks like a real back saver, Bill.

Spent most of yesterday canvasing for a new LTE internet provider and came up short. Found a pretty good summary review of the technology, and learned that the three big carriers are selling time and bandwidth to what's called MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators), many of whom have lousy ratings with the BBB. But the big three still retain their power to limit bandwidth and throttle speeds based on their somewhat capricious and unpublished rules, so the MVNO's promises of "unlimited" data are patently false, and lots of folks are complaining. Also talked to reps at both AT&T and Verizon about how strong the signal was here for their networks, and neither would offer service. T-Mobile 5G modems are in beta test now, and their coverage map for 5G looks good for here, but then again the AT&T coverage map looks great for LTE and they won't sign me up. A friend in Washington state just started on the StarLink beta, and he's getting incredible speeds out of the thing. Not cheap at $100/month and $500 for the modem, but it looks like my best bet once Musk builds out the satellite constellation large enough to make it this far south.

Hump Day again already!

Here is a tiny short video of it. I let my daughter drive it, mainly to let her feel the "weirdness" of rear wheel steering. She made me not film her head, being shy about things....

The covers are still off, and I have since bungee corded the pto pulley arm up safely off the ground...

It will be interesting to see how the starlink works out, for us rural customers. Hope you find something that works in the mean time. I still remember them saying they were going to offer internet through our electric wires, if they could, everybody would already be already networked.
