Good morning!!!!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 40° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 46° with cloudy skies. Cleaned up shop, garage and cellar. I can now do a project with tripping over something. Going to trying and finish up cellar project. That depends on having material to finish. Maybe a trip to Maenads.
Arm where I got pneumonia shot is better today.
Yesterday morning sunrise.

David, so far I have not had clamping up of joints. Caretaker project is looking good.

Rich, good luck with phones today.

Drew, hope blood test are good.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

47 and drizzle, going to 67 and cloudy.

Ron, thanks for the sunrise...I won't see anything but fog and drizzle. The big rain over the last 2 days has knocked many leaves off the trees...depending on where I walk the ground goes from green to red to gold.

I've had the fingers lock up, too...most often after a long period of lopping, chainsaw work, or hammering.

Rip, I was tempted to get the woodstove going, but decided to wait until it gets back into the 30s.

Roaster software worked well, but I found 1 bug I reported and have gotten a reply.

35F light showing of rain upper 40's for high on/off rain today into late tonight.

Outside chores done E muffin time. :licking:
Plans for today...dump run,4 errands in town, may check game cams other than that slow motion day.

Enjoy the day all.

Good morning,
the temp is 30°F and the high should be 37. Wind E 7 mph. Periods of snow, mixed with rain.

I think today might be a good day to change the oil, and grease the tractor and BH.

Nice sunrise Ron.

Have a safe and healthy day all

Good morning! A warm 69˚F, light SE wind. Today will be an interesting weather day with a Norther blowing in and maybe some rain. Looks like another Hurricane will miss us and head inland in Louisiana near the same place the last two hurricanes hit land this year.

Still dark outside, last week on daylight savings time. Several small projects might get attended to today, nothing pressing.

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 4:30AM. Partly cloudy skies. High near 75F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
So far, at least, the high winds predicted yesterday haven't materialized, the highest gust registering 26 MPH. Let's hope it stays like that. Only one fire so far in the county, but a large tree fell on a trailer full of people, pinning one who later ended up in the hospital. Power is still out, probably for another day.

Glad you weren't banged up to badly, Eric. I've seen flocks of red wing blackbirds that made that much noise.

That's a lot of surgeries, Phil!

Sounds like good progress, Mike. Nice monarch shot, too!

Got some more aluminum welding practice yesterday, closing up holes in the airbox, then painting them. Then saw I missed a couple other holes, so I'll get some more practice today once the sun starts shining and the battery bank recharges. Never thought I'd be using a solar powered welder!

Got started on the blanking plug for the cam opening, or at least got a start. I thought I had some half inch plate in the scrap box, but my search came up empty handed. I was sitting at the computer about to order some from McMaster-Carr when I remembered seeing a long bar of it in the shipping container, so got a piece cut off to use instead. But again, need to wait for the battery to recharge before I can start on that today. Maybe I should go back to sleep and let the sun get a head start on the day?

Hope the week gets off to a good start for everyone, and the phone stays quiet at Rich's place!

Good morning all, 52 going up to 55 and weather report say slight chance of rain-so it's been raining for the last hour or so :confused2:

Got all the leaves piled and mulched just in time for the rain to take down more leaves. But still looks a lot better and will be more manageable for the next round. Then went and got leaves off the new garage roof.
Cleared out the dryer vent-what a pain, but I recommend this for everyone yearly as it's a common cause of fire.
Planted 40 bulbs and got them done right before the rains started yesterday, so timing was perfect.
Home depot run for red grease. Only finding a few tubes-seems to be in short supply here. picked up some odds and ends.

Drew - every state has wacky liquor laws-in NJ in my old town, liquor licenses were selling for upwards of $750,000! and here in PA supermarkets just got the ability to sell some wine/beer with limits about 2 years ago. Glad you finally got your license done.
Have one of those augers (30" so no bending over) but find my little bulb planter works fast, 40 bulbs in less than an hour with most of the time traveling to and fro to the different planting areas. (Ames bulb planter)
Randy -glad all went well with Ellen and hope your arms not too sore today.
LCR - jealous of the new XP - looks really nice.
LS - is that an official replica air ride seat device :)
Kyle-they certainly did not try to make the steiner look beautiful-so has a great industrial look

Rip - in MA they used to use dynamite to bust up the dams after the beavers were trapped. Anything less than a whole stick would not damage the dam very much.
Eric- sounds like now you need to be bubble packed-hope the bruises aren;t too bad

fallIMG_0144.jpg Picture from yesterday morning-almost bare today.

Stay safe and be well

Foggy and 64 heading for 73 later, cooler weather and rain later this week. About half the leaves are down and they’re falling fast now. One more mowing at a lower level for the winter to avoid snow mold fungus.

My arm is much better, have follow up with the doctor Wednesday.

My fingers would lock after using an air jitterbug repeatedly. It also led to carpal tunnel surgery in 1986.

Ron, glad your arm is better. I’ve had mild soreness from vaccines, but very rarely.

I’ve noticed that shortages are starting in the grocery store again.

I sure hope the COVID-19 vaccine is soon to arrive.

Prayers for all.

Good morning. It's a warm 73° with 92% humidity and our high will be about 82°. A "cooler" front is on its way, arriving here about 5 p.m. for comparison .. it's 19° in Amarillo this morning. And .. a tropical storm entering the Gulf of Mexico. The "cooler" front .. will keep it from coming our way.

I spent yesterday, on the New Holland, cutting one of our pastures. About two hours of cutting becomes 5 hours when your continuously dodging trees and low limbs.

Don .. I failed to mention yesterday, that the PR XP 1000 "Texas Edition" also includes a standard 4500 # winch with synthetic line. I used the 3500# winch, on our XP 700, quite a bit.

The 4500# winch is controlled from a dash mounted in / out switch and I can add an optional wireless remote control, for $135. That .. seems like a "no brainer".

Eric .. your "triple doink" was outdone by the Rice kicker .. with a "quadruple doink".

"On Friday I foolishly tripped over a brick in the dark in my haste to shore up some boards keeping rain off the fresh mortar. I stayed upright, however the plank of wood I was carrying took the opportunity to clonk me on foot, knee and forehead, all in one go "

Quadruple doink foils what would have been a game-winning field goal in OT for the Rice Owls - YouTube

Hope everyone has a great start to your week.

Prayers to all.

Good morning to all! Low of 19, high for today a whopping 25°.... breezy / windy with a cold 25-35 mph NW wind. We had some rain and gropple (graupple for Eric) throughout the night, leaving us with an ice coating with light dusting of snow. The forecasters have us under a winter storm warning until Wednesday..... 6-12" expected, up to 18" possible in areas.

Being the temps aren't getting above freezing today, I don't think any shop time is going to happen. There are both electric heaters and a propane heater and I can get it toasty warm, but the next phase of the project is to run the planer.... I want the doors open for that. I was hoping that there was snow so I had an excuse to spread the chips all over the drive to help with traction :D..... not today.... I knew I should have gotten that dust collector.....

I think I am going to stay inside and supervise the pellet stove doing it's job! I also need to catch up on some YouTube videos... even though I don't know what videos they are.... wifey is cooking a chicken and going to make chicken veggie soup.... I can taste it already....mmmmm

Drew, those cookies look delicious to me!.... I can send you my address..... I have already mentioned the ingredients to the wifey... She said sure! Are they crispy or chewy? Reminds me of the old molasses crisps.... Maybe post the recipe if you have time?

Roy, sounds like you're set to go with the tractor for the upcoming snow... not sure if you want the "little bit" or "a lot".....

Eric, hope you are feeling better this morning..... getting bruised up is not fun....

Ken, now you're planting bulbs:eek:.... I better get my act together..... I hear rumors about a spring flower competition..... Nice fall pic!

I don't know if there is any chance of beating out Ron's pictures though.....

Well, I'm going to try to get my 'relax mode' booted up.... haven't used it in a while... not sure how well it is going to work....

Everyone have a great day!

45°F and cloudy this morning, going up to ... well ... that's the high for today. It will start dropping as the rains arrive later this morning, and head down into the mid-30s tonight. Looks like the same for tomorrow.

Started working on clearing out the old fence line at the east end of the pasture Saturday. The neighbor from across the road came over and helped. I think he was looking for an excuse to get out of the house for awhile. He hasn't quite adapted to retirement yet. We got nine trees dropped and a bunch of ground level scrub cleaned out. We were about halfway finished when we both decided that was enough for one day. He was a big help, and I enjoyed teasing him about the battery in my Lynxx 40v chainsaw outlasting the fuel tank in his Stihl saw. Probably finish that last half next weekend. He insisted I let him come over and help again.

Sunday was cold and windy all day, never getting out of the 40s. Got some inside stuff done, and some puttering in the studio before a nap was in order. Finished the day by going to our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. As we sat and thought about it, this was the first time we've actually eaten inside of a restaurant since December last year. Was nice to be back there. Great food and wonderful people running the place. Hope they can survive this mess.

Also found yesterday that a guitar I'd ordered from an overseas seller, which had tracking suggesting it had been shipped September 25th, was finally released by US Customs on Saturday, and is in the possession of the USPS in New York City. It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to get it to me in Southern Illinois. Hopefully, I'll be having a "New Guitar Day" sometime this week. When I ordered a guitar kit a couple years ago, it got to me from Australia in a total of 7 days, including two days in Customs in Chicago. No idea why this one is taking so much longer, but glad it's finally on it's final leg of the journey.

Good news on your audit, Roy. I've always found that some people are just better off taking a day off during audits, as no amount of training or coaching will keep them from boogering it up.
LS started offering rear mounted 3PH controls just after we bought our XR3135HC. I still haven't ordered the kit to install one, and curse at myself every time I'm changing an implement. It really would be helpful with a cab.
I'm surprised there are no windows that open on that cab.

Congrats on the new Ranger, Rick. Looks sharp.

I'm more of a grinder, too, Randy. My welds aren't pretty, but they seem to hold OK.

Glad you got all of your stuff, Drew. Now, the fun of sorting it all.

Nine years and almost 121K posts. Quite a legacy, Irv. Remains my favorite place on the internet.

I've had fingers and sometimes my whole hand lock up on me. When it happens, it's always after a long stretch of particularly strenuous work. The notion bothers me, as anything debilitating with my hands is the ultimate nightmare for a musician. Fortunately, it doesn't last long, and I can usually massage it out in short order.

48F and overcast (foggy ?) @ 11:30, headed up to a high of only 51F ... :(

Chilly temps abound in the Ten Day, Wednesday looks to be the best near-term shot for getting the front mowed again (mostly sunny, high of 57F) Probably also get the last tulip bulbs planted as well.

The Woman has departed to take another stab at voting. She tends to be pretty impatient ... so success will likely be dictated by how long the lines are and how quick they are moving ...

More de-rusting of various plastic containers and clean/straighten up in basement yesterday. Need to get The Woman down there today to go through the various boxes of kitchen stuff and see what can be donated to Goodwill or otherwise gotten rid of.

Cleaned windows over kitchen sink inside and out. Amazing the difference ... Now I just need to get the other ones along the entryway done (she says ...)

Got Nat the Geo cedar feeder and the two tube feeders refilled with sunflower seeds. Replaced broken perch on one tube feeder from spares.

Modeled up some plans for the squirrel feeders yesterday and started cutting the boards. Also glued up one piece of cedar that had a little split starting. More cutting of boards today.

Got divider glued into barn owl nest box and clamped, need to drill and screw that piece later today, along with getting the doors installed.

Drew another 20+ gallons of water for PWC's, fed fish and the 6 white worm cultures.

I've been informed that repotting the Hibiscus is on the agenda for today ...

Heard from a friend yesterday that his son has come down with the 'Rona ... been sick for about a week to 10 days. Fortunately it's been mostly flu-like symptoms and hasn't gone to his lungs. Also wife informed me that I was mistaken about other friend's son's wife (in Houston) ... the hospital was able to get her stabilized and she did not go into intensive care ... which is very good news.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Hope everyone has had the same experience!

72°F and no rain last 24 hours.

Thanks for all the feedback re my finger question. It would seem too many of us are afflicted, also some variety in results. And for those without, I seriously hope and pray you never do.

Back to my project today.

Yesterday not a total bust, got some of the network wiring cleaned up in living room cabinet.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

My wife said she didn’t know it got cold in NM, I told her she’d obviously never spent the night in a stucco motor cabin with no heat, outside of Tucumcari in Late November. Thank goodness there were a lot of blankets.

Yep, it is cold out here!.... the highest temp was that 19 this morning, dropped to 17 and stayed there all day... it is now 15, on the way down to 8 tonight. Snow finally arrived and is predicted to last until Wednesday morning. Maybe up to 18" of snow.

There is snow going further south to areas that rarely see just a few flakes, they might get 4-5".

Here's a pic from our front door... too cold to step outside

So, this 'day of relaxation' has been nice.... different, but nice! I reached the end of the internet and was told to go back.... then I burned out YouTube.... I don't know what I'll do tomorrow.....
