Good morning!!!!

Wow, 78° with sunshine and a nice breeze.
Went to my 8 year old grandson’s baseball game, I can’t believe the skill level he has developed. Two unassisted outs at third, including a high pop up that he never would have handled last year, and two assists to first base. Had a double, two singles with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored. I know I’m the only one who cares, but I’m a proud pop pop.

Ellen went to a fall festival with her daughter after the game, brought me key lime cheesecake, I suppose I’ll be forced to eat it. I haven’t t done much this afternoon except sit on the deck and enjoy the weather.
I’m a newby, only 9 years.

I’m really glad for all the good news the last couple of days, enjoy a blessed day.

barbecued some nice tuna steaks for lunch
fish was on sale for 8 dollars a pound plus no country of origin so I'm hoping
that means it was caught off coastal US...

   / Good morning!!!! #118,266
when food shopping yesterday I had to walk down the pet foods aisle since the aisle I wanted was "wrong way".
I normally don't pay any attention in this area but saw a large refrigerated case for "fresh" dog food. A long cry from what I remember as a kid
of large bags of kibbles mixed in with milk made from dry powder. And a treat of some strong smelling Alpo cans of mystery meat.
Some of the "entrees" in that case looked pretty good.
But not without risk it appears:
Sunshine Mills recalls three dog foods over high levesl of mold by-product - CNN

Ron, that pic is one of your best, love the colors

Drew, seems I’m always at wrong end of the aisle, as well as 90% of others given direction their carts are pointed.

Thanks for the video link, RNG.
My house has concrete clad walls and metal roofs, challenging. My Eeros work. Quite well covering the house. I’m trying to improve my external points like cottage and tractorshed as well as various places on the property.

Bird, interesting observation. I grew up with rifles in the house but don’t ever recall seeing my Dad fire one. He did hunt though.
I haven’t fired a weapon since retiring from Army. While active I was qualified on all weapons at my disposal. I also ran all the Marksmanship training for Basic Trainees for 1 1/2 years at Ft Dix.

Good news for Ellen! Only a calcification, she didn’t need the sonogram. A lot of smiles around here.

LS, I hope your family gets good news tomorrow.

More great news, I'll say some more prayers for the both of youz.

I thought I was going to have an easy day, especially since receiving the good news. I washed the truck, then leisurely changed the oil. Next I was going to put on a coat of wax.... until I got a call from the neighbor.....

Her horse was going to be put down in an hour, she asked if I could come over and dig a grave.... what am I gonna say..... so told the wifey where I was going and why...

I was about half way done with the hole when the vet showed up. Finished the hole and went around back to get the horse. Got him picked up and placed... covered him up and came home... all done in 3 1/2 hours.

My good deed for the day!

Your a good neighbor LS.

Good morning! Cloudy, 72˚F heading to the mid 80s.

Kyle, make sure you feed the cat good because a content cat is a good patient hunter. Most people think that barn cats should stay hungry so they have incentive to hunt mice - that is farthest from the truth.

Ron, I agree with Drew, good colors in the shadows of bright sunshine. You would not be able to get that kind of shot from a phone.

With almost 1.5" rain the last 3 days the brown fields are starting to have slivers of green.

But the absolute best news is that a real Fall COLD front is coming next week, two weeks earlier than most years. Our temp range for Thursday will be 57˚F to 64˚F - a full 40˚ cooler than last week, the coats will be coming out of the closets in Texas. Mostly should have the coldest temp, will it freeze in his neck of the woods?

Time to walk the Whip and as soon as the grass dries MEWB the yard. (Mow, Edge, Weedeat, Blow)

Thanks for the mouse catching info Don. I'm getting my parka out of the closet and dusted off. :)

Kyle, hope things go well with your visit into Austin city limits. My wife and I were talking yesterday that we'll need a compelling reason to go downtown Richmond or DC anytime soon. Plus small cities have so much to offer. Just hate to see the decline of the inner city start again, and the long period of renewal possibly come to an end.

Thinking of the mountains tomorrow, or maybe the barn quilt tour through a nearby county that touches the mountains while I check out a couple of access points to some trails and trout streams.

I agree about inner cities. Hope you find some trout streams.

Bird, interesting observation. I grew up with rifles in the house but don’t ever recall seeing my Dad fire one. He did hunt though.

I would guess with all those recruits, you would have some stories to tell. My M16 rifle training was at Ft. Sill in late July or early August...108F (You quickly learned to keep your black weapon in your own shadow at all times)

Very good

Wow, those fresh pineapples look awesome. All we get are the half green ones here. Save me a piece of that cake!

We got back safely from Austin.....saw plenty of weirdos (they like to be called weird). After dropping the cat off, we had all day to kill, so we first went to Camp Mabry and checked out the tanks, planes, artillery, and so much more on display at the museum. It has a Texas theme, about Texans' part in the wars since we went to war with Mexico after the Alamo.

Then we stopped in to see some dear old friends that I haven't seen in at least a decade.

But the last thing we did is went to this HUGE motorcycle dealership to daydream and drool. They sell Honda, Kawi, Suzuki, Yamaha, Polaris, BMW, and Triumph. The showroom floor is really too crowded, they could double the size of the showroom easily. Saw plenty of nifty bikes....even some beemers that were air cooled!!! :) I asked the salesman, where are the personal water craft? He said they can't get many due to Covid, and they are all sold before they get there.

Got home with the kitty, and she was hungry, but they said only about half of normal amount of food this evening. Do cats normally eat scorpions? My wifey was cleaning her litter box and found she had passed one!!! She is getting about twice of the recommended amount of food, she eats like a horse....and therefore, filling up the litter box FAST.

Ron, make sure that front doesn't slam us down here, put out some laundry on the old clothes line to slow it down. :)

I wonder how Jay, CWB, and Farmer are doing? Guessing Rich is busy with flat tracking.

69F and partly cloudy @ 21:30, headed down to a low of 57F.

Just got a shower after the day's labors and am now enjoying a sweet kaffe con leche ...

Got five bird feeders filled (3 sunflower, 2 nyjer), located 6' level, watered the hostas that still need planted, then took water buffalo up and watered upper catch basin and two oak trees. At that point the WB was empty so I brought it back down to house - stopping at the shop to grab a propane tank and the weed burner - and filled it up.

Got most of screened soil spread in the northwest planting bed, three more holes prepped for rhododendrons (peat moss, soil sulphur, cow manure), managed to fill two of them.

The first one (on the right in the following picture) actually has three separate plants in it, the two long ones were actually facing the same direction where they were planted. I disentangled the roots and faced them in opposite directions.

The larger one on the left is about 6' tall and consists of at least 4, possibly 5, separate plants/rootings:

The one in the foreground in the following image is the one I got done yesterday:

IMG_1220 copy.jpg

Multiple plants per hole, hoping that at least one in each will survive. All of them will need to trimmed, to shape them up ... once they get established.

Got some more holes drilled for hosta as well ... one of tomorrow's projects ... ...

Weed burner was a bust ... either the propane tanks are empty or something isn't working right ... will try and figure that out tomorrow.

Doesn't seem like much, but after yesterday my back was screaming most of the day ...

Hope everyone had a great day.
