HEY!!!!

I need a GOOD trailer. I'm OK with used. I need to move my tractor and attachments, my 60" ZTR, etc.

For now I plan to pull it with my 2010 F350 PSD (I plan to upgrade the truck to version with AC soon).

I need to buy it very soon.

Advise me.

Please.

I get amazed at how much people get for used trailers. Consider having big stuff hauled, and if you really want a trailer longterm, maybe just a single or tandem for Joe everyday stuff. My tandem 16' can haul my small tractor, or mower, or even my old impala. Trailers hold their value if bought used and kept up. Tires replacement is about $300 on up. Wood replacement is common and cost a bit of money.

For most moves, I recommend renting a tandem U-haul trailer. The covered ones that keep your stuff dry. Daily rental is not too bad if you return it to the same place. The height is low, so you don't have to go up ramps, and you load it in 30 minutes of hard work, and rest while driving. Make multiple trips. You will wish for AC.

David M, I would rent a trailer for your tractor and Z and then rent a cargo trailer for your move. You really need 2 types of trailers for this endeavor.

Poured first cup of coffee. 47° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 76°with sunny skies. Got 90% of window frame painting done yesterday. Forgot to do one area. Will get touch up done and that area today. Mowed lawn also. Will do trimming and some landscaping on hillside.
Sandhill Crane are doing King of the Hill training.

PJ, Happy belated Birthday Wishes. :dance1:

Mostly, thank for oil change reminder. Need to rotate tires also.

MFW, best wishes that sale and buying of new home goes quick and smooth.

David, cukes. :licking: My neighbor has given me all of her vegetable garden until she gets back from caring for her SIL. I do have to pull weeds.

LS, great project. Hope you get some pictures of it in use.

Drew, hope you neck gets better. I use a wet heating pad. Does that help you?

Everyone be Healthy and Safe.

Good Morning All.

Kyle,

Two topics here on the trailer.

For the big move from MFW#1 to MFW#2, I am HIRING movers for MOST stuff. I'm selling two houses, I'm not gonna be cheapo this time.

For the equipment, I NEED to OWN a trailer that will haul my tractor with bush-hog at minimum. I have a 12' x 5' flatbed with rails but my ZTR will not fit. I have multiple attachments, and I have 3 Harleys, and and ATV, and a John Deer riding mower I think I'm keeping. I have space to store it. I have NO IDEA what the future will bring.

Just gotta have one.

Make sense?

Thanks,
David

Kyle is right, a 16’ tandem will haul anything you need to move. Besides mowers and tractors, I hauled my ‘67 Impala SS on one. You have to plan your getting in and out since the fenders don’t fold down.
The upside is if you find you don’t need it, you can get your money back.

58°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 80° today. Voice on the radio says no rain through Sunday here. Might actually get my burn pile conflagrated this weekend after all.

Just caught the last local traffic report yesterday evening where they unceremoniously mentioned the re-opening of the Martin Luther King Bridge into downtown STL after it's two-year refurbishment project. Honestly, it seems like it's been twice that long. They probably could have torn down the old one and built a new one in less time, and for probably less money.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I like Ted's $100/year idea. May have to try that.

Good Morning!!!! 81F @ 6:00AM. Abundant sunshine. Near record high temperatures. High near 105F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Congrats on the sale/purchase, David MFW! I don't envy you the move, though. I truly hate renting things, but I make an exception for trailers. I've been meaning to buy a 20' tilt deck 10,000 lb. capacity trailer for the tractor, but now that won't be big enough so I'm glad I didn't. I do have the use of a 16' car hauler, but it's a PITA to make the arrangements to borrow and return. But not enough of a PITA to buy one to replace it, though. And used ones around here sell for almost as much as new, another reason I've drug my feet. One thing I've found about trailers, even rental ones. You should plan on rewiring whatever you end up with. As simple as trailer wiring is, people manage to screw it up every time, and you don't want to be caught after dark with no lights.

This is the third place I've remodeled while living in it, and each time I said "never again". Consider doing the basement first, then moving into it before you do the rest of the house. Unless you like plaster dust with your eggs, and not being able to watch TV without looking around the room at all the unfinished work within eyesight.

I did test the system during commissioning, Wng, and the genny is set to run every Friday at noon for five minutes. Like Drew, though, I need to run it once a month under load, and I haven't done that. And I should. I also need to climb a ladder to replace a sprinkler head that popped out, so that's how I'll start today.

Cool crane shot, Ron. Surprising something that ungainly can actually fly!

I think the USPS started removing mail boxes back before they caught the UnaBomber, and he was the reason they started pulling them.

I'm with Kyle on cool cutters, but I'd settle for occasional use of someone else's. They'd take up too much room that I don't have. I should look into a "Maker" space...

I'd like your version of the salad better, David!

Sounds like a good way to spend a birthday, Paul. Hope you get a good deal on the new Gravely.

Yesterday my Facebook feed blew up with all the wildfire reports. And the sky filled with smoke. Really strong in the morning, but like any strong smell, I couldn't even notice it by noon. The largest fire nearby is at the Oroville Dam spillway, burning north. It caused many evacuations in the town of Oroville, all of which have now been rescinded. The dam was never in any danger, but the fire sure made a lot of people nervous.

Sheesh, just when you thought you'n'Boo had an understanding, Thomas. He's keeping you on your toes!

Glad the fence roller is done without any more drama, Ted. Which one would you have used most in the past year, plasma or top'n'tilt? That's the one to get first.

Glad the temps have moderated for the yard work, RS. All that talk of retaining block has my back hurting in sympathy!

Installed a duplex 120VAC outlet on the generator yesterday to power a network switch, access point, and camera. Got the camera installed up on the end of a 10' piece of PVC. But none of it worked. For some reason I don't understand, the Power Over Internet injectors I have won't work on the new outlet, but they do up at the house. My electric drill turns, but it doesn't sound like it's running right. There's no signal on the CAT6 cable the contractor ran, either. Maybe I botched the connectors (those wires are tiny!), or there's a break in the line. By 2PM it was too hot to be in the sun, so I came inside for lunch, then finished installing sensors on the garage doors. The ones I put on are HomeKit compatible, and replace units that were supposed to work with the burglar alarm. The radio signal on the old ones wasn't strong enough to reach the controller, so they never did work.

No purge valve I could find on the parts van, so I have some feelers out for a new/used one. Might get word today on one, he's checking now. His shop is in Las Vegas, and between the 120F temps and his continuing health issues, it's been a challenge for him. Kinda makes the temps here sound like a walk in the park...

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Good morning to all! No rain overnight, slight chances of a passing T-storm today. Temps up to the low 90's.

Not sure what will be on the agenda today.... maybe a little cleanup where the tanks were sitting, some weedwacking may be in order. I know there is a steel barrel out there that I have been meaning to cut open to make a burn barrel.... maybe get to that.

I cannot get too involved in anything, today is the 37th trip around the sun with my bride and soulmate! We really don't have any plans, but I still will stick close to home base today.... at least I am still smart...

PJ, let me know how the $100 plan works out....

Drew, be careful crawling around on the ground... don't mess up the neck any more than necessary...

Rng, it it a tough call to decide.... could have used both equally over last year... but, the plasma cutter will be used almost immediately to make 2 implements for the tractor... a land plane and a rear grader blade. Then they will almost need the T&T immediately when they get put to use....So what comes first, I guess the plasma cutter so the implements can be MADE. The T&T will be more for convenience....

Kyle, I forget to mention that I was glad to hear about your daughter playing / singing at church.

Wifey just asked if I could make a run down to Costco..... can I say no....?? Funny how it works...

Everyone have a great day!

you're right Ted, caution won out, as I'm sitting here with a soft collar and microwaveable heating pad on it.
Plus my lower back started getting twingey so decided Friday morning was a better idea.
When I'm dosed up with 100mg of Prednisone for five days after chemo, I feel like superman.
Well...that sure goes away. Happy Anniversary!

bought meat loaf mix and going to make meat loaf and baked potatoes for dinner, plus some broccoli.
Forgot to get Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix, which is a favorite ingredient in meat loaf, so I'll experiment with something else.

RNG, looks like your state is burning up again. Get that firetruck full of water  and be careful.

75 and thunder, already had .7” of rain in storms this morning. Supposed to be 81 later. Was going to mow today to get ahead of the grass, guess that’s not happening. Cardio rehab this morning. Hurried home so I could let the cleaning lady in, she texts to tell she can’t come until tomorrow. She’s very good and usually very dependable, so I’m not going to worry about it. She had covid-19 in June and recovered at home, but took off a month to be sure. She sent me a picture of her two negative tests, I appreciate that.

Moss, great news and good luck on all the mechanisms involved.

Have a good day guys and be careful.

62 degrees this morning, but going for a high of 94. At least the cool weather made mowing a more pleasant job than I've had in a while. Of course, I almost finished mowing before daylight (love the headlights on the EGO self-propelled lawnmower).

And with less than a third of an inch of rain so far this month, and no more in the foreseeable future, I've got the sprinklers running both front and back.

And I spoke only briefly this morning to the young lady next door as she was leaving to take the kids to school. Yep, they are going back to school around here. The young lady is a nurse, so she's working every day. Her husband works in construction for her father and is on a job more than 300 miles from here, so he only comes home overnight less than once a week. The grandmother, who lives about 35 miles from here, has been coming to stay with the 3 kids during the day while they haven't been going to school. It looks like a busy and tough life lately, but they're good people, stay cheerful, and at least they have jobs instead of being in financial trouble during the pandemic.

Need to set up a paint station, get some 2x6s painted.

Prayers for all
Be safe

I really liked my neighbors BIg Tex trailer I borrowed once. I have a 16ft, but I needed something bigger.

No need to fill the tank, Drew. The suction hose only takes a minute to hook up and that tank holds 2500 gallons.

fireMap2020-08-19.jpg
Here's a satellite heat map of the fires around Central and Northern California. Closest one to here is the Potter's Fire, which is burning northward from the Oroville Dam spillway. Reports coming in this morning are of many of those fires making big runs last night, with strong winds fanning dry brush in low humidity conditions.
