Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #117,301
Good morning all.
72 going up to 88 today, dry day, rain coming back in tomorrow.
For the first time I left the awning out over night, thinking nah it won't rain...well you can imagine what it did briefly last night...
but it will dry out and I suppose there is some mother nature washing action going on.

Forest River, the big rv company that owns Dynamax, has a forum that sends me updates and I had to laugh at what I got this morning.
A whole thread on guys and wives complaining about how to get fitted sheets on "walk around" queens that really aren't, you only can walk around about
half the length. It is a serious PITA to get the fitted corners put on the top end of the bed, had the same problem with the queen bed on my big boat with a queen berth
that was flush up against the wall. You have to crawl on top of the sheet you are trying to install, and by the time I'm done, I'm soaked in sweat. I went to bed last night with an unmade bed I was so demotivated to go through that again, but...will start on it shortly. Apparently the trick is to pull the mattress down a ways, exposing ends better, so you can get the sheet corners all the way down and around the ends, instead of just stuffing them in. But it was good to read dozens of guys complaining about the same thing that has frustrated me. Almost makes me want to go to all flat sheets... Life's little challenges, emphasis on little...

I appreciate all the positive thoughts. Interesting that my siblings, none of them, were supportive, met with dead silence, which is their way of expressing disapproval.
I love them dearly but they worry too much about me, I guess thinking I'll have another stroke.(riled up, yes Kyle...;)
The farm was a wonderful experience with a poor ending, for a number of reasons. I'm determined to only focus on the wonderful experience.

Next week I get chemo again and my second PT scan. Hopefully the latter will once again show no cancer spread and further reduction in tumor size. Then I will truly
start to worry less and look forward to the next chapter up North.

Ted, glad you got your welder to work better. You have some very creative, talented projects.
Pictures of bears are fun

RS careful around the wires, positional awareness...light up your life in other ways...

Good morning, ditto Roy's temperatures, with plenty of rain in with the predictions.

Interesting that my siblings, none of them, were supportive, met with dead silence, which is their way of expressing disapproval. I love them dearly but they worry too much about me

Drew, if your family are Quakers, they are bound to be exceptionally good at silence ! :)
That cottage looked to be in a nice location, hope there is still a chance of it meeting your expectations for a few years.

LS, looking forward to seeing a pic of the fence unroller in action.

As the sheep went through the sorting race yesterday, the guillotine style gate came apart. Previous owners have done a variety of repairs over the years, I think I need to start afresh, even if I do have lots of baler twine

Eric, thank you. My sister and I are but not the two older brothers.
And they are not hesitant about giving their opinions...having an oldest brother who is an attorney and thus feels
that in itself bestows almost unlimited intelligence and unimpeachable opinions...
For decades I was told "when you get old enough you'll understand this". Really?...:D
When I was 59 and he was 64 I finally had enough, and asked him if I was old enough now.
Never heard that again  My siblings are incredibly well meaning and basically supportive and did so much for me in the last four months
I just keep my mouth shut at times. They aren't perfect and neither am I.

I think I really scared them for the first couple of weeks after I had my stroke and was hospitalized, my thoughts were confused, I was having some entertaining hallucinations, and they worried if I would come back. Well I did, and it's taking them awhile
to get a grip on that. That three week period when I was mentally challenged was why I finally agreed to the heart monitor. One just never knows and I sure don't want that experience again. Of course I was told repeatedly the stress of my body fighting the cancer was what gave me the stroke.
So the plan is no more cancer, no more strokes. Plan A...

Bed is made, phew... and I'm off in a bit to deposit a refund check from assisted living where they billed me/deducted from my brother's checking account for the month after I left. Before that, having a breakfast of waffles, maple syrup and veggie sausage.

59F cloudy chance pass showers this morning upper 70's for high.

Outside chores done E muffin time. :licking:
Plans for today... :confused3: other than that pick and putter.

Enjoy your day all.

Poured first cup of coffee. 56ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 76 with plenty of sunshine. Did a clean up of my equipment with gas engines on them yesterday. After not being used for over a year. They cleaned up and ran good. Back to window frame project today. Cut lawn while primer is drying.
My neighbor brought their SIL's dog over yesterday. Sassy and Roxy played for hours. SIL has cancer and is not expected to live. Need a forever home for her in the future. I said OK if they need someone. Sad. SIL is only 58.

Drew, glad you siblings are coming around to you moving out of assisted living. Good luck with house.

Eric, looks like scrap metal to me. I still have lots of tubing from the crates that Woodmaxx packed my chipper and fail mower in to make a new gate out of.

Roy hope audit goes well. I need a Dr. visit soon for BP meds. During the CV shut down I was able to get by on 1/4 the meds I was taking. Dr. did not believe it. Took my machine to compare with their machine. They agree. My problem is with side effect of these meds.

RS, sorry I cannot keep up with you. :tractor: But like reading your post.

Buppies, good plan with Bear.

Buckeye, good flower pic.

David, King of the Hill.

Kyle, good to hear DD is doing better.

Mostly, Covid numbers make headline news. My township/village posted that new case count went up 15% in one week. Actual count was 75 to 86 over a 7 day span. :confused2:

RNG, hope you do not need to test your power system and safety upgrades because of a fire.

Randy, right after a deep cleaning may be the best time to go.

MFW, I have heard they want to put things away for showing and pictures. Along with many other things realtors have on their wish list. Enough, hard to find a realtor that can do much more than list house. Remember, when your realtor list your house. That is the last time they are on your side. My :2cents:.

Bird, little early for Flu shot. I usually do it early October.

Everyone be safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

65 and fog has burned off, going to 84, and the weatherman promises low-for-summer humidity.

Hopefully the grass will dry for its first cutting since the week of deluge. RS, I'm with you...definitely heard the grass growing yesterday. It dried enough to run a full battery down on the string trimmer, and to prune some holly bushes. I have a manual pair of Fiskar hedge shears...really enjoy the motion of trimming. But it started raining before I could mow.

Ted, glad to hear you are almost complete building your fence roller.

Scott, looks like you are getting your fire truck ready just in time...that smoke doesn't look good, especially with your high temps.

Kyle, as far as I know, that bear family has stayed back in the woods...that trail cam is down the hill at the fox den, but only about 150 yards from the house.

David, you are the Kuke King!

Good Morning All.

Ron, good for you to offer taking the dog. Hope it works out well.

Prescription Meds. A big frustration. So I've ran out of one drug, but thankfully have the main one for my BPH. The website has a place to ask questions of my doctor, but they say, don't ask for prescription renewals, that you have to see the doctor in person. I tried to get an appointment, first offered one on Sept 9th, then an email came back and offered one on Sept 1st. Still 2 weeks out. If it was my main prescription, I'd have to resort to drastic measures.

RNG, hope you do not need to test your power system and safety upgrades because of a fire.

I agree, Ron. But for the past few days, I've been getting warnings from the electric utility that there will be rolling blackouts due to high electrical demand and low supply. They're doing a very good job of stirring people up; I got a text message at 2:30 yesterday afternoon, an email from them at 6:30PM, and then a freakin' robot phone call at 9PM, just as I was trying to drift off to sleep. So it looks like I'll get to test the power system even if there's no fire, all due to PG&E incompetence and more mismanagement.

Just to add more salt to the wounds, I got notice yesterday that the trust PG&E set up to pay fire survivors from the bankruptcy has a new questionnaire ready for us to fill out. I submitted a fully documented claim first time around, so why the heck should I have to submit it again? More incompetence and mismanagement.

Sorry to go off like that, but their behavior just makes me sick to my stomach.:yuck:

Good morning! A cool 70˚F this morning and with 87% humidity the wet bulb temp is 67˚F, clear skies heading to the high 90s. Yesterday's after sunset walk with Whipper was the first in a long time the temp was below 90˚F (87˚F). No rain for August.

The garden okra is in full protection so will be heading there this morning. The tomatoes are still producing but very few, just too hot. I'm trying to keep the tomatoes going through August so they will start producing again in September, but more limbs are turning yellow every day.

At the park they have some remote camping spots that need to be cedarcided so the large oak trees can be enjoyed. They are still hopeful that the park can be open to the public at the end of 2020. My chainsaw and metal blade weed eater are ready for the assault tomorrow. It will be a few degrees cooler than it has been. Last week was the hottest session and we still had 10 people show up and worked on the new overlook trail. I need to find out if we will continue to work when the park is opened. Tree lovers will just see us cutting down cedar trees and not realize we are saving the Oaks.

Ron, Sassy has a playmate, nice. Whipper still does not like other dogs. We take off the bark collar and let her run back and forth barking at the neighbors dogs through the fence. Yesterday Whipper was shocked when the little dog stuck her head through the fence and bit her tail.

Yesterday Whipper was shocked when the little dog stuck her head through the fence and bit her tail.
Whipper still does not like other dogs.

and getting bit in the tail and shocked at the same time isn't going to help one little bit... Sorry that happened.

Ron, marvelous pic of hawk. Sorry about your SIL. Keep your spirits up.

made my bank run, got E0 at local station, 2.59 for 89 octane vs same price for 93 octane E0 at my old station in Washington. Next time I'll wait...
Audi wants premium gas anyway but half a tank of 89 isn't going to hurt anything.

Then did a maintenance run on rv gen, little 3600 watt Onan never gets used ,has all of 5 hours on it. Turned off campground power, ran the a/c on high and let the
gen get warmed up. Turned it off and that was it. It starts in two seconds every time, propane fuel is such an improvement over gasoline.

Good Morning!!!! 87F @ 5:30AM. Clouds and some sun this morning with more clouds for this afternoon. High 107F. Winds light and variable.
A/C and ceiling fans have been running 24x7 for almost a week now, as the overnight temps have not been cooling down much at all. Looks like lows will be dropping down into the mid to low 70s tomorrow, but highs in the mid to low 100s persist for the next ten days. Sigh.

That hawk must like your barn, Ron. Do you ever see it stoop for prey from there?

My doctor told me he doesn't get paid by the insurance company unless I make an office visit, even for simple little problems. But he has a web portal through which he'll accept prescription renewal requests. I guess I should be counting my blessings, huh?

You're a miracle of modern medicine, Drew! And you scared the bejesus out of a lot of us here on GM, too. I'm not takin' sides, but it must have been a heck of a job to get the farm squared away while you were incommunicado, and I bet none of them are looking forward to the next time around. But they need to also remember that the next time may be for one of them, and it'll be you riding to the rescue. Just part of the "reward" for growing old.

Have you tried tucking in the corners of the finished sheets at the top of the bed first so you don't have to kneel on them? That would require figuring out what corner went where first, something I'm not too good at because the CalKing is an almost square bed...

I think I see the problem with that gate, Eric. They used bailing twine, when any gate fixer worth their salt knows you use bailing wire to properly jerry rig a gate like that.

Glad a new tip fixed the welder, Ted. New liners are expensive and a PITA to replace.

Seems a little early for flu shots, Bird, but I guess these days you can't be too careful.

Ran out of windshield washer fluid in the truck the other day. Went to the auto parts store for more, but none of what they had was rated for freezing temperatures. Now we don't get many subfreezing days in the winters here, but we do get some, and it doesn't make any sense to put something in the reservoir that will freeze and break the reservoir or tubing. And especially not at four bux a gallon. Whatever happened to fifty cents a gallon for the good stuff? Now I'm seeing it for ten bux on Amazon!

Found a part number for the purge valve, but it's NLA from VW. There still might be one hiding somewhere on the parts van, so I'll take another look for it today. Othewise I'll put out feelers with a few used parts/wreckers.

For months the sound baffle for the generator enclosure has been sitting in a box on the front porch, but yesterday I finally got a round tuit and installed it. Took all of five minutes and six bolts. Makes me wonder why I waited so long.:confused2:

Got another shipment of parts for the network yesterday, and got two new security cameras installed. That prompted me to download copies of the app for the phone and tablet, which made aiming the cameras easy. Not thrilled with the video quality; it's 1080P, but I'm still as ugly as I look in the mirror...

Good morning 63! going up to 73- coldest it's been in months,
Seems like rain will stop for a bit :cool2:

LS- sometimes a second set of eyes is all it takes to fix-glad the welder is back on line
RS- Nice lawn-certainly need to get that rhododendron off the house, who knows whats living under there!
Eric - sorting race needs sorting ?
Drew - Plan A it is-
Ron - great pictures and good that Sassy has a playmate - prayers for your SIL
RNG - power company is a mini monopoly, and certainly acts that way
TXDon-That park is going to look real nice for the opening!

Keeping it simple today

Stay safe and be well

Good morning to all! Last night, after it cooled down a bit, we opened the windows for the cool breeze. A short time later, the wifey and I were smelling smoke.... after checking the house, I stepped outside to a stronger smell. I couldn't see any glow in the sky, so felt a bit more at ease. When the news came on, sure enough they reported an air quality report about all the smoke being blown in from California.....

This morning was an interesting sunrise, hazy orange and reds.... nothing spectacular, but revealing the large amount of smoke present.

Ron, nice to see the pic of Roxy and Sassy, she appeared to be much smaller... I bet that hawk is keeping the rodent population in check, he looks formidable for sure!

RNG, sorry to hear about the incompetence being shown by PG&E, they have to milk that trust fund ....
can you close the window and doors to keep all the smoke and heat over there.... please....

Wng, I hope the humidity levels stay low for you as forecasted. When I lived back East, I used to enjoy those occasional days during the summer when humidity dropped... made for a really nice day to spend outside..... now I wish for humidity to go up to 50% !

Drew, good luck with the sheets! It really is a pain to get them right.... I hope you can get one of those houses up in Pa. That last one you posted looked really nice, especially for that price! It made me think, for a few moments anyway, about grabbing that one up sight unseen..... Wifey said... NO!

Today's agenda will be a mixed bag of stuff to do.... First, I need to go to Wally World and pick up a few things we are running low on, and a couple of "for sale" signs.
Then I need to load up two 1550 gal water tanks on the trailer and take them to a place in town to put on consignment, hence the for sale signs.

Then finally back home to finish the fence unroller project. I will post some pics later. It will be a busy day.

Not as busy as RS, but a full day....

Everyone have a great day!

We got another .35” of rain around midnight, low was 64, high today 86, dew point is down to 66, not perfect but better than 76-78 like it’s been for a while.

I’m going to try out my new pressure cooker/slow cooker combo today, have a 6 lb broiler thawing in the sink. I somehow lost my old pressure cooker when built this house 8 1/2 years ago, haven’t had one since.

You guys have a lot going on! After 14 months of issues I’m starting to get more strength and stamina, it’s been a gradual climb with some bumps along the way.
BEF and Drew are amazing how they bounced back from their health problems.

Wngsprd, when I was a kid in NC, we had a sow bear that came up to the backyard and ate dog food and beat up the pan something awful. She would bring her cubs sometime.
We also had a coon that would come up and look in mom’s clothes basket while she was hanging out the wash.

Speaking of coons, Ellen caught one her cat trap last night, she released him back to the woods, it was very docile. She’s kept the traps out trying to catch one last kitten, but I haven’t seen him since Thursday night, so I think she’s wasting time.

Enough rambling, have a good day.

70F and a mix of clouds and sun @ 10:30, high today expected to hit 77F with only a 10% chance of precipitation.

Our "neighbor" - who does not actually live on his property (no home on the lot) started firing this morning right after 10:00. Cats are not happy with all the gunshots ...

Woke up this morning with a slight cramp in left calf, need to take mineral tabs and focus on hydrating today.

Somehow managed to get nailed by a yellow jacket yesterday when I got off Kubota to go in shop. Was right on front of calf where there is almost no meat. Hurt yesterday, now it's itching ...

Noticed yesterday that the rain was beading up on the auger rack bottom ...

Because of the cool temps and cloud cover, probably going to be doing some weed eating this morning. May also do some sapling and brush removal with the FEL at some point as well.

Rhododendron trimming later today once it dries out. Also get siding hung.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Bird, little early for Flu shot. I usually do it early October.

Ron, it seems to me that we just get earlier and earlier. I don't recall just when we got them when I was still an officer, but for the 6 years after I retired, we spent late October in West Virginia each year because Oct. 31 was my mother-in-law's birthday. And back then, we got our flu shots at the hospital in Princeton, WV each year. Last year we got our flu shots at the same Walmart we used this year, but it was on 9/20/2019.

68°F and .13 inches rain.
Have to go to a friends and pick up a free table, a work surface for tractorshed. Will give some cucumbers. My lost Amazon order is showing as being at PO after 2 weeks.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

It’s neighbors SIL that needs lots of prayers.
Sassy is smaller dog in picture. She is almost 18 months old.
Roxy is 8 months old.
Family member may take her. I was asked if that did not work out would I consider taking it.
