Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Not much change in the weather... cool at night, hot during the day... probably up to around 98 today. The weather forecasters are now referring to our typical monsoon season as " the non-soon". Slight chances of showers (10-20%) starting Sunday.

Yesterday I was able to get the shop all set up for the door making process, but then got sidetracked into making a rolling stand for the planer. It is used infrequently, so I would always just pick it up off a bench and set it onto a stand. That got old fast... always in the way on the bench, always seemed to be a burden to set it up for just a couple of pieces. So now it has its own stand and place in the shop... ready to go!

With that in mind, today will be cabinet door making day! Not a hard project, but many steps, so just time consuming. Hopefully they will be another checked off project by tomorrow.

I still have my MC endorsement. No charge to keep it on the license, but big $$ to get it back on if lost. I haven't rode anything with 2 wheels since selling my Goldwing 6 years ago. If I ride another MC, it will be a trike.

We have our own GPS issues here.... the bordering subdivision to our property has a main entrance street, with 4 cul de sac streets off that. The property at the end of one of those cul de sacs, borders across our frontage Road.... different name, different address, 1/2 mile from where their entrance is....
GPS puts a big red dot for their address right at our driveway entrance. Many a person comes into our drive looking for them...

I am going to go get started.... everyone have a great day!

68°F and .30 inches rain last 24 hours.

Pleasant dinner with BIL and his GF.

Hope to get the remaining 2 acres on Hilo end mowed this morning. Maybe even the remaining strip along the drive.

A sizable (over 200 pieces) delivery from Lowe’s this afternoon, between 2-6. Then I’ll have to make sure it is out of the weather although I would prefer to get it restacked into usable. Just hope no rain until then. Rain makes for soggy Sheetrock.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

80F and mostly cloudy @ 13:00, "feels like" 84F, high for the day predicted to be 85F.

MMM gauge wheels in stock at the local Kubota dealer, they are holding two for me until I can get in there to pick them up ...

Fedex now showing new jig saw will not arrive until Thursday, USPS shows new hardware cloth for soil screener will arrive by Friday.

On the agenda for today:

Mow tall grass in wood/compost storage lot (with deck raised)

Water in area around catch basin, sow grass seed, cover with straw.

Finish auger rack.

Possibly cut down oak tree.

Refill bird feeders.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

big Audi gotcha showed up yesterday. Dash said my subscription to Audi Connect expired, which involves hands free phone use, which I never use, and hands free navigation which I use a lot. Their voice recognition works very well. They referred me to website to renew. $599 for 18 months subscription! I don't think so, I'll be happy to enter the nav address on the keyboard. 33 bucks a month for that feature is absurd

I have read that many of the car makers are trying to transition to subscription services for the software in the car. "You want your car to start that will be $$$$" I look back to a 60s vintage vw bug I had. I don't think there was any software on that car and not much pollution control junk either. Easy to fix and fun to drive.

Chris, I could understand if that big monthly charge included some free telephoning, but that is all a la carte on top, ++++++
I figured out how to enter addresses very quickly using rotary dial alternative (Audi's version of that is very good) so fee is now moot point.
For the first six months Audi did give this very cool feature where you could get real time Google Earth cartography on the big glass dash screen showing
the car literally driving down the street and showing the actual buildings on each side, similar to Street View.
I don't know what they wanted to renew that but another fee I avoided.

This is not a car I would own out of warranty...another year to go. But so far the Q5 has been surprisingly reliable and fun to drive, getting high 20s mileage consistently, even with my heavy foot. I've even seen mid 30's on cruise at slower speeds. But it requires premium fuel, which I am going to try to avoid next time.

afternoon light showers keeping the temps down which is nice

Enjoy your evening all.

Drew, OnStar was/is expensive too, always was. It’s been around 20 plus years so somebody is paying for it
We had it in several vehicles but I never used or paid for the nav function. I had the accident notification, phone service, door unlock, which I used twice after locking my keys in, and later we had the code reading function.

Another round of pop up storms, don’t think I’ve ever seen it rain harder. Temp went from 93 to 76 in about 10 minutes, low black ugly clouds and wind. The worst was in town near my bank, roads were rivers.

Got my Bluetooth on my Ram to pair with my phone again after two months of trying, my fault I was leaving out a step.

Good day folks.

Kinda stuck inside doing odds and ends as I await blue sky. The light drizzle just stopped so there is hope. Area to mow is farthest from house and relatively flat, little to no concern about tire tracks etc, so as long as mower doesn’t load up with wet clippings I’ll give it a try.

Ridgeline is flashing message for a maps update so looked on Garmin site and looks like Honda gives 5 years of updates so guess I will find a usb stick and attempt at some point.

Drew, I would think with your background and skills you’ll find the drive update not very challenging. RNG had good advice to do externally. I upgraded my 2013 MacBook Air to SSD a couple years ago.

I could use some computer advice. My Asus pc has a I7 processor and a Nvidia video card, always plenty fast enough. But the hard drive is making more noise now and it worries me. No, I never got to vacuuming out the inside but that tiny whiny rotational ball bearing noise isn't going to go away with a vacuum. I have about 500gb of storage on a 1TB drive. I do not have confidence swapping out a hard drive, and safely transferring the data. I do not know if chassis will hold a second hard drive. Thinking maybe a solid state hard drive added on, or even an external traditional one added on would be simplest fix. Then I assume there is a process to make the new drive the boot/primary drive and simply bypass the old drive.

Once upon a time I had an external WD external HD but it's now MIA. Instead of buying a new pc, seems a new HD makes more sense. First of all, where do I go to find out what processor is in this unit? The specs page...Maybe it's old enough(how do I find in service date also?) and pc's are cheap enough it's time to replace. But while I never bought the fastest I always have bought a reasonably fast model to try to avoid obsolescence. Currently running W10.

I'm sure I'm making this sound harder than it is, a number of you have swapped out hard drives easily. I want to be proactive here and not reactive to a failed HD.
Thanks
Laptops die, I go through one about every 3 years. Sometimes it's the hardrive, sometimes not. Regardless get TWO external hard drives (about $100 for two 2TB) and back up all important stuff to both. Label them well, get a GOOD backup program that you can understand AND use - also just copy the important files.
