85F and partly cloudy @ 17:00, looks a possibility of rain out to the west, but betting it won't develop into anything.

Actually pretty pleasant outside compared to what it has been.

Exterior primary and trim colors decided on.

Just returned from Menards, picked up a gallon of each stain, cleaner for the siding, and two pallets of retaining wall block.

And my copy of the Craftsman Oxy-Acetylene Weldor's Handbook (Sixth Edition) was in the mailbox ...

Time to change into work clothes and see if I can get the pallets off the van or if I'll need to cut them down to pick them up with the loader.

Sad story. Prayers for the lady. Not going to mention her name.

thank you. She is intensely private and does not have good social media memories...

Amazon shipment came in, got 8 banker's boxes. Just ate dinner, somewhat dry ham, nothing on it, groan
definitely not my favorite... so maybe I'll do a little box construction and packing. Lot of stuff brought here by family not used, need
to pack it up into two piles, one to storage container and one to rv. A brand new fry pan arrived very poorly packed, and handle was in three pieces rattling
around in box. Unfortunately they want it back so when I go to Washington on Thursday to pick up rv, will drop it off at UPS store there.

So many places have closed, really need to call ahead...

Here are a few shots of the work on the firetruck tank.

First, the lid to the tank with the oak decking removed and most of the bolts out.
tankTopUnbolting.jpg

Broke it loose all the way around and propped it apart with small wooden blocks. Used C clamps to make chain hangers, slipped 'em over the forks, and upsie daisy...
tankLidHanging.jpg

The tank is divided into six compartments by steel baffles, and big chunks of them had rusted out and deposited on the bottom. These are the two rearmost compartments.
tankRust.jpg

These are the front two, where the pump pickup is located. It's buried under about 6" of debris.
tankRust2.jpg

I got three five gallon buckets of rust out this morning before it got too hot to work. That cleared four of the compartments. I think tomorrow I'll cut out what's left of the baffles, and clear out the rest of what's on the bottom. Then the really nasty part: wire brushing all the surfaces down to bare metal in preparation for some sort of coating. I'll also need to weld in stiffeners that run crosswise across the tank to replace what the baffles once did. I don't care about sloshing because I don't intend to move the truck when it's got water in it. And if I can locate a draft hose, it won't be stored with water in it, either.

somewhat rattled from an email I just got.
Over five years ago here on TBN was a lady member from Texas who left TBN because she was being
stalked/bothered by someone here. Sad but true. I have kept in touch and hoped to see her on my rv trip out West where we were going
to go to a big Dallas dance hall together, to watch...

She was an avid pilot, has her own acrobatic plane and had been alone for many years. She met someone who clicked, also a pilot, spent the last two years together and
got serious. She and I had talked for years about why it was more important just to be happy by ourselves and not feel we could not be whole without someone else. But she finally found the right person.
Several months ago she was at the airport where her fiance was test piloting a new plane and it crashed right in front of her. She was first on the scene and her love
was dead. Simply hard to imagine how devastated she must be. So...am trying to be comforting, and be a friend who keeps in touch.
Hug your wives every day guys and cherish the love.

Can’t remember a lady pilot on TBN, but remember a lady who worked at an airport.
Sad.

Sad.

Brandy works at an airport - that is not her. Brandy is still active here and post on the Texas seasonal thread.

That is tragic Drew, I hope she can find some resolve in her life.

That's too bad, Drew. I caught a few of her posts before she disappeared, and she was a real nice lady and a heck of a go getter. Please pass along my condolences/best wishes if you get a chance, OK?

I found who it was. It’s a shame she was chased off of TBN.
I think I was thinking Brandi, but knew she still posted.

I just had to block someone on FB who attacked me for reminding them that the page we were on was non political, and they kept spewing obnoxious political trash unendingly. I guess I should have have waited and let the page manager handle it, but it irks me when people ignore the rules.
As much as I don’t agree with some people, I try to stay civil and respectful, and try to take the high road. I know I fail at times.
There was a guy from Maine who bailed from tbn a few years ago. I didn’t agree with him politically, but enjoyed our conversations on here.

Humidity will start to rebuild, rain chance Tuesday and Wednesday, Cooler temps for the week, Then more seasonable for the weekend. Wife and I walked first thing this morning, then to mowing the lawn. After mowing got new eyelet piece ordered for weedeater and spare spool wound and ready to go. I see a shopping trip in my future.

Billy don't look at Heat index till day is over. Generally don't quibble much with it, track the dew point much closer, that tells me how much I will sweat. Thanks for Coco update sorry to hear about her lack of appetite.
