77F and partly cloudy @ 21:45.

Made the run into Tractor Supply in Lakemore and picked up their Live Trap bundle (one medium, one small) and some suet cakes which did actually come in on their Friday truck.

Checked nest box no. 3 on the way back in and sure enough there were at least 3 or 4 house sparrow nestlings in it squealing to be fed. Can't let them fledge ... but it looks like they have a ways to go before they would be ready to so I have a little bit of time still.

No sparrows in the trap thus far ... may have to try experimenting with different foods to attract them. Usually if you can catch one, it will act as an enticement for others.

Just came in from trying to shoot a couple of raccoons. Spotted them out by the bird feeders when I got up off the couch and looked out the window ... either they saw me or heard the front door open because they were gone by the time I got around back with the shotgun.

Got the hinged lid and pipe flange mounting installed on Flicker nest box. And a couple of brass screws to wire the lid closed. Cleaned out Rubbermaid container for the red worms. Checked moisture levels on blueberries ... seemed fine.

Grilled some Johnsonville Brats and Ballpark franks on the grill this evening, along with zucchini, yellow squash, and onions.

Couple of lily pics:

I think I am now afflicted with 3 addictions.... tractor stuff, gravel, and now for a second time... R/C airplanes.... I hope it doesn't get as bad as the last time... between me and my 2 sons, we had over 60 planes.... I cannot let it get that bad again

Still not as bad as Uncle Fred, if you would've been able to meet my buddy's Uncle Fred here, you would've been amazed. He would go to every swap meet, and come home with a pile of stuff. I would guess he had at least 100-200 engines, 2 cycle and 4 cycle. Unbuilt kits, balsa wood, wing covering all colors, radios, servos, gadgets, etc. He passed away about 10 years ago. I don't know what happened to his "stuff". I wish I knew. I asked my buddy, and he said his kids sold it. He had 2 buildings he kept it in.

The "air force" will be dwindled down. I will keep the best fliers. Some need repairs and probably electronic replacement, depending on the extent, will determine if they would be keepers or give away. I hope to only have one of each type of plane, slow flyer, glider, fast/acrobatic, scale. Downsizing the fleet will make it easier to maintain and have fun with.

There was a guy we knew out at the airfield. He had some of the most beautifully built scale warbirds we had ever seen. Details down to the rivets. Top of the line everything on them. Most of them took him years to build. He would bring them out and just display them on the tarmac. Over 10 years, we saw him fly one time. He just really enjoyed building them.

Some success in the tractorshed cleanup/reorg. All the small engine shelves cleaned off and reorganized, new hangars for the various weedeaters, plumbing fittings grossly sorted into respective bins as well as 2 coke case containers of simpson hardware. Pretty much leaves the electrical and tractor stuff for tomorrow. Started raining before I could put mowers back inside si I guess they are getting a nature bath.

Look at page 12 of IRS Pub. 502...

"You can include in medical expenses the cost of medical care in a nursing home, home for the aged, or similar institution, for yourself, your spouse, or your dependents. This includes the cost of meals and lodging in the home if a principal reason for being there is to get medical care. Don't include the cost of meals and lodging if the reason for being in the home is personal. You can, however, include in medical expenses the part of the cost that is for medical or nursing care."

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf

I read some other articles from Elderlaw, TurboTax etc. that give more info/detailed explanation. So these costs would be added into other Medical expenses to help get over the hurdle and based on her situation, possibly beat the Standard Deduction.

That's a lot of record keeping to beat the standard deduction. Thanks for the reference.

Kyle are you preparing your tomato plants for the heat. I heard on the radio that hot days over 90 degrees and warm nights over 80 degrees result in pollen sterility. That is why they are fizzling out. But if you trim them and keep them watered and alive till September they will start producing again. The radio said something about trimming out the middle of the plants ??? I need to do a bit more research.
