Drew, hope this is only a hiccup and you’re feeling better soon. Perhaps onceall the house selling stress etc is done.

Not to be political but I suspect if the call was to reform not defund the police there would be greater support. To me, the police have drifted way far from their purpose. Remember the days as a kid we were taught a policeman was your friend?

According to a new Monmouth University poll that is generally what most folks understand the actual call to be:

Reform ... not actually defund ...

The “defund” aspect is just hyperbole ...

RNG, don’t have a fire truck but I did buy a firehose with intentions to plumb into the pool pump. Pool has 39k gallons and the electric feed is direct from main panel at the Outback, not via the house. Never did figure out proper fitting, guess I should relook.

Checking In:

I am not fond of HHH weather.

It's been an interesting couple of days since I last posted, but the situation here has improved to manageable so far. C-19, the USA current state of affairs, extended cabin fever (+3 months), and to a lesser extent tax deadlines have been stressing Wifey out. I finally realized that Peg who has never been particularly med compliant took things to another level when she stopped all her meds unbeknownst to me which included all her BP, antidepressants, and RA medications and started to self medicate in less desirable ways? (Now what I was seeing and dealing with makes some sense). It came to a head the other night when in her confusion she let Brogen out and did some "gardening." If it was not my Wife doing it could be almost funny. Fortunately he returned home safely and without injury and based on the muck he was covered with and stink he was down in the swamp, probably looking for those bears. The swamp seems to be in pretty decent shape this year based on how dirty he was. He must have been able to swim in it. (Makes me think of Eric.) He is less dirty, but still stinks. I致e posted about making some dietary/lifestyle changes a couple of times here before and the household now has a moratorium on "Happy Hours" and alcohol in general. So far so good. Our taxes are rather complicated and TurboTax® was not exactly responsive and the numerous incomplete 1099's etc. did not help, but our taxes are now basically done. I finally got the corn replanted this morning and after I plant some more bush beans and transplant all my basil seedlings I/We are good to go in the garden until we start some fall crops going.

I really like the cultivator attachment I just got for my Stihl powerhead. It caught every rock still left in the garden but is light years ahead of the old POS Mantisï½® I had years ago and tossed.

It's kind of sad, but I go hypoglycemic around "Happy Hour." Now it's a nonalcoholic mixed drink with some calories, but it fits my motor strength habit needs and gives me some sugar in the process. Now I have to start taking my blood sugars more frequently as I will now probably start going hypoglycemic all the time. I get down in the 40's before I know that I am in trouble sugar-wise (not good). I will probably have to start tapering my insulins down again (BTDT). At some point I will have to see my new/old PCP.

That's the news so far today. I need to see what's been going on here. I saw a brief past post before I posted. RonJH- Be careful going off your BP meds. You might start doing nocturnal gardening with kitchen utensils.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all of us including myself and our significant others and loved ones.

This stuff started out as reform, or accountability, which I have nothing against. It quickly changed to defund, being pushed by those that have an entirely different agenda, and by those that don’t want to be held accountable for their own actions.
Just think about it, if law enforcement (police) is defunded, then we don’t need city authorities who’s job it is to create law, as there is no need for law without enforcement.
There needs to be checks and balances.

I had to laugh at that. When the Dr showed me BP readings that his people collected since last November for me all showed mid 140/80. I told him interesting. That means the med you prescribed for me in April 2019 is not working. He asked me to go back to old med for a month. Then we will decide what to do.

I think a lot of people are having cabin fever. Hope you and peg get better and brogan gets a bath.

I try not to be political. But after 244 years. Why do we need new laws and the people that make them.

RonJH- It pays to have a sense of humor in times like these even if Wifey goes under the bus. I can kind of understand why she used a fork, but I have yet to make sense of the oven mitts, and napkin that she left behind in the garden.... She picked the wrong garden for a salad. Oh well. I really have a hankering to get a taste of that smoked ribeye steak at that nearby restaurant who do serve outdoors on weekends and may now have limited indoor seating and they have a really large unused dining area.

Good luck with the BP meds. Stainless steel tableware works pretty well in sandy/silty loam. ;)

David- I am happy to read about Sophie's improving eye situation.

Drew- My continued + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for continuing progress with your health, home sale, and plans for the future.

My + thoughts, wishes and prayers for Coco.

Bruce- Happy birthday. I wish you many more in health and happiness.

85ºF (too hot), Humidity = 69% (an improvement), Dew Point = 75ºF (nasty awful). Today will be a 4 T-shirt day.

It's been really dry here. I spent ~ 1 hour water the gardens this AM. It looks like I may some seriously needed rain here Friday - Saturday.

Drug to watch - budesonide

Not enough data and peer reviews to be a real silver bullet at this time but sounds promising. Dr. Bartlett has 0 deaths with his covid patients. patients report feeling better after one inhaling treatment. He cites Taiwan's extremly low death rate on inhaling budesonide. Drug has been around for 20 Years and given to pre-mature babies.

I think the coronavirus situation is starting to make some folks really irrational

I read a thing about some people getting brain damage from the virus. Even happened to people who had no symptoms. I don't know about you but I can't afford any brain damage it is hard enough to keep up as it is. I wish I could read more about this from a trusted source.

Depends on whom you ask. Several have said defund means defund.

Partly cloudy but still 89F @ 20:00. A cool 73F inside though ...

Some pop-up showers in the general area, but mostly to the east and west of us.

Got hydrangeas and blueberries watered/fed earlier.

A bucketload of material hauled up to the compost pile and a trash can and some buckets hauled around back and hosed out.

Scrubbed out trashcan lid and set it up as a birdbath. Haven't seen any takers thus far.

Finished applying BLO to the Flicker nest box and the DRST. Hopefully get lid installed and DRST put back together here in a bit.

Right now though I'm thinking running down to Dunkin' and grabbing one of those iced Butter Pecan coffees ... :D

I'm sure that's true ... but as the Monmouth shows, the overwhelming majority (77%) see it differently.

Who were their polling samples? Polls are not notoriously accurate, see 2016.
However I’ve strayed too near the political cliff, so I digress.

Polls in 2016 largely were accurate (within the MOE) ... however some of the conclusions drawn from them not so much ... ;)

However I’ve strayed too near the political cliff, so I digress.

Blame Drew ...
