Good morning!!!!

Ron, I think it is a house wren...good pic...it may nest there, or be hunting for spiders to eat. ...

That what I thought when I first saw the picture.

We have them here ... they will often nest in one bluebird house, while filling other close by nestboxes with sticks to keep other birds (maybe wrens only ?) from using them.

They're a protected species, so can't really do anything about them nesting in bluebird boxes ... other than putting up houses specifically for them ...

... RS, glad your hummers are back. When I took mine back outside this morning, I had one land and start feeding while I was walking it over to the hook. I stopped and slowly raised it up to my face so the hummingbird was only about 15 inches away while it gulped and gulped.

Awesome ...

How do they get so much liquid into so little of a body?

I truly haven't a clue ...

Ooohh. I wondered why the new bluebird box is full of sticks but I never see any birds.

Looks like 84 now, they say 85 for a high, but I suspect it’s going to rise more than 1° after 10 AM.
80 mile trip up to Odessa, DE yesterday to visit one of Ellen’s brothers, he’s got a really nice place, tools and tractors. Took her dad with us. Had Texas Roadhouse for dinner.
We are in the process of getting a Sunsetter awning for the deck, it will be 16’x12’. Takes 4-5 weeks to get it done.

RS, good luck with the vise, I haven’t had much luck over the years with similar repairs, so I’m very interested to see how it works.
Drew and everyone else, please have a safe and well day. God bless.

61ºF with some rain spits for today's low temperature (0.05" recorded). A mostly overcast and humid 68ºF presently. Brogen became concerned about Mr. Bear in the areas ~3:00AM and subsequently went on tether duty during which time he would occasionally loudly protest the Bear's presence. As a result Brogen's idea of a walk today may be going from the slate tile by the slider to his dog beds taking over the living room to the slate tile around the wood stove and back. He is sleeping off his evening and still has not eaten breakfast. We need rain badly around here. I am hoping to see some rain and hopefully T-storms this PM. A good day for a booze/supply run.

Squirrels have become a problem with the suet feeder. Today they got a good taste of suet a la hot pepper sauce and they definitely did not like their hot mouths. The birds are not bothered by the solution I made.

Drew- My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Randy- I like Ellen's wagon wheel planter. Thanks for sharing.

rswyan- I/We really like Vindaloo. Sometimes I think the lamb's gaminess is due to it being a slightly"older" lamb. There is a lot of sheep raising around here; local, organically raised lamb is still available. I really like that Kombi system. The powerhead is a solid performer and I can interchange the 3 attachments with a turn of a handle. Right now I have the polesaw cutter, the old chisel circular saw blade, and the pruning shares mounted and ready for action. I am 蜉ェorking Wifey for a blower head and maybe a (Mantis-like) tiller head to round out the system. Thanks for the bird house information- I had one birdhouse filled with sticks like you mentioned, now thanks to you I now know the reason. Thanks.

RNG- What's in the drinking water in CA? I can not believe how this project is going. Good luck.

Thomas- Maybe I should take up cigars. Wifey will not ride in the truck. 10 hours of detailing and the truck still smelled of Saint Bernard.

David- Thanks for sharing your gardening pictures.

Don- Thanks for the links, and I agree that true science and politics are a bad mix.

RonJH- I agree with Billy that the bird pictured is a house wren. I had a pair checking out my Blue Bird/Tree Swallow bird house a couple of days ago.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

66°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 91° today. Rain and storms all around us today, but "The Arch Affect" seems to be splitting them to the north and south of the St. Louis area.

Foster dog decided to bark all evening yesterday, so I got a whole lotta nuthin' done in the studio. So it goes.

I heard a news story on the radio about that "study", Don. It does seem like it's almost impossible to know who to believe anymore. Even the semi-respectable publications are taking unvetted stories and running with them, more concerned with sensationalism than facts. The best course, of course, is to follow the money, as they say. But, who has time to do that on everything? It doesn't seem like a news source without an agenda is asking too much, yet here we are.

I also heard that the W.H.O. has reversed their stance on mask yet again. First they were worthless, then they were essential, and now they're back to worthless. (sigh)
