62 degrees this morning, going for a sunny 86. I went out at daylight and put a fresh coat of sealer on the back steps. Bending over to use a paint brush is sure hard on an old man's back.

Everyone's talking about their different brands and models of computers, and programming, and I'm still using my HP laptop that I bought 8/25/2015, and for some backups I also use my HP notebook that I bought 10/28/2013. And I'm running Windows 10 on both with the automatic updates. My printer is an HP Envy 5660 that I bought on 11/2/2016. HP keeps sending my emails that support is no longer available for that printer, and naturally recommending that I buy a new one. Well . . . I'll undoubtedly buy a new one if this one ever quits, and I will not be surprised when it does, but so far it still works just as it did when it was new.

Always looking ...

That one is up in Painesville ... claims R8 tooling, but no mention (or pics) of what exactly. He's asking $900 and it's been up on CL for about a month:

Bridgeport Mill - tools - by owner - sale

There's another one over in Maumee - 3 axis CNC Bridgeport Series II - for $1000 that's been up for 2 months. Supposedly in great condition ... but no mention of what tooling it might include (if any):

Bridgeport CNC vertical mill - tools - by owner - sale

There's also this one - an "AcraMill" up in Chardon with an Anilam DRO and servo table feed ... which seems nice, although I'm unfamiliar with that brand (mentions other tooling "available") ... but no mention of price:

Bridgeport type mill - tools - by owner - sale

That one has only been up for 16 days.

I like the one with the DRO. That DRO makes it worth 3 times the $900 the first guy is asking. Plus it has the tooling. He might want a pretty penny for it. I would stay away from the CNC for layman's work. Many are powering them with variable frequency drives to provide the power and change the rpm. I would love to have on in my barn. I have 2 at work, plus 3 CNC mills at my beck and call. Many Taiwan mills are decent for the price. Not as good as original, but parts can be had usually.

Here's a doctored photo showing where I made the cut, Kyle. It's the red line on the front latch.

I'd show you a photo of the real thing, but there's epoxy drying in some extra holes that somehow got in there by mistake.:ashamed:

It was another Amazon purchase, one that arrived in three or so days.

A breezy crystal clear 47ºF for today's low and it is a mostly sunny and breezy 57ºF presently.

Yesterday was another beautiful day conducive to outdoor activities and I missed the space launch. It's good to see the USA launch our own astronauts. I got some decent tractor time doing additional tilling and moving wood and rocks around and I mowed ~ 2 acres of "lawn" that was too wet and high to pass through the the leaf catcher tube. Based on how much the garden has expanded to almost its original size years ago it now looks like I will be planting corn this year, and if I can find a melon starts I'll be planting them as well. I am happy that I transplanted the tomatoes to larger pots; it looks like tomorrow's low temperature will be in the mid to high 30ºf's. Today I re-mowed what I mowed yesterday for the clippings and ran a tank's worth of string trimming around the woodpile, propane tank and house.

Mr. bear showed up last night ~4:00AM resulting in one broken frame and blown out screen upstairs and one downstairs as Brogen tried to get after that bear. The feeders were inside the house and the bear ultimately drug the chained shut 55G metal garbage can off into the tree line about 150 from the house to retrieve the sunflower seeds within. The can's lid was askew and still had the chain hooked to the handles, but the contents were gone. Today all bird stuff will be brought indoors.

Drew- Thanks for the update. The "Plan" looks good. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Ted- From scrap materials you mad some really good looking railing planters.

Bruce- With the decent weather the more active I am, the less I am exposed to the news which does not help my mood states. If I manage to clear out the asparagus bed with its surrounding fieldstone the garden will be back to the original dimensions and at that time we also had a very productive strawberry patch.

RNG- This was the shortest Blackfly Season that I can remember. I have cyber-friends across the NE that are reporting the same thing.

RonJH- Thanks for the pictures. I have not heard nor seen any frogs or toads here so far this year excepting my internal Spring Peepers. My mood state and mental status is much improved with the decent weather and much more activity outdoors. Strangely my muscle groups and skeletal system are not complaining.

BEF- Thanks for the sunset picture.

Eric- Thanks for the weather history.

Phil- Congratulations on your new Tacoma.

I hope that everyone is having a manageable Sunday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

The NASA / SpaceX launch was spectacular yesterday and should be front page news with EVERYONE celebrating this accomplishment but .. sadly, it's overshadowed by a bunch of anarchists trying to destroy our country.

Well said Rick:thumbsup:

RNG, sadly the front camera not as useful as anticipated. Have to put more thought into it.

Potato harvest day was a success. I had the first batch of potatoes (about 100) in first 9' of the raised bed garden, about 15 plants. The second half of the potato crop, about 30 plants, will be ready in about 2-3 weeks.

I tried that a few years ago and the “backup” are just too wide angle. I’d like to find one that just shows my forks or bucket.

That's what we have had to do. "Our" bear came by 7 minutes after I went out and turned on the front yard game cam...about 9:30pm...but only walked by and no damage found anywhere. I'm definitely not waiting until dark to go turn it on tonight. (If I left it on during the day it would take too many pix and use up the batteries too fast.)

Phil, great truck!

RNG, nice idea about that tool box. I need to go back and read your first post to see why you cut that piece off.

On the topic of laptops/phones, it sounds like you guys love the Apples, and they sound nice. When I bought my mom here first smart phone, I got her an Apple iphone. But I've always used Windows and Android stuff and been happy. I'm typing this on my PC, a laptop handed down to me from my son...bought January, 2010. Our phones are Samsung, bought in 2014. I finally had to buy a new battery for mine last year ($15), but my wife's still using her original one.

Anyone getting a refund or discount on their car insurance because the covids has resulted in less driving and claims? I read on my company's website they are doing that soon, but got my bill a couple of weeks ago (due mid-June) and didn't see anything, yet.

We got some discounts for March and April on all our vehicles from USAA. They will be discounting May as well. I let them know the Corvette gets only a couple hundred miles per year and getting a nice reduction on that policy.
