Yep Ted .. I met your neighbor (Louis?). Nice gentlemen and he was there when I arrived a bit after 8 a.m. I asked him to pass on my regards, to you, on his return.

Daughter got results of CV-19 test, negative, but doctor will not clear her for return to work (high risk). She is working on getting an exception to work from home or perhaps an isolated location.

I just got back from a quick trip dropping off work laptop at FedEx. Light traffic, not busy.. no contact with anyone except the fedex agent and I was well back after setting the box on the counter.. got my receipt and headed home..

My FIL (who turned 96 March 9) is still in Harborview (Seattle), they are having trouble finding a SNF (skilled nursing facility) that will take him.. He is doing much better, but wants out of hospital bad. He has to have care or he would just go home.

I'm back from an uneventful (for me) trip to Brampton. A car on the Northbound side of Hwy 11 had a real eventful trip and landed himself in the median. If he had spun out about 100' earlier he would have gotten his feet wet at the High Falls bridge. Running 70 mph on 2" of snow most of the way. No snow at home but at Huntsville it started snowing and by Bracebridge the right-hand lane was wheel track bare and the hammer lane was snow covered.
10 minutes at Shelter Logic and the 3 boxes were in the Dodge, a top-up of windshield washer juice and off we went. Roads were just wet coming back, set the cruise on 70 mph and rode. 20 after two found us in Sundridge buying into the Dewalt 1/2" drill and 1/4 drive impact driver kit.
You know you are a Canadian when you drive on a snow covered road at 70 and never blink an eye. Snow tires on all 4 corners sure makes a difference. you Americans think us Canadians are nuts, the way we drive. The speed signs are merely a suggestion.

jbrumberg hope your rump gets better soon maybe some snowing pictures if you have time we basically got none

Mr. Buttcheek is whining less thanks to the heating pad and hopefully will quiet down with Happy Hour. I do not see a lot of dog walking for a couple of days. :(

It started snowing ~9:30AM, stopped midday and it looked like the sun wanted to make an appearance, but ~ 2:00PM it started to snow pretty heavily just as Wifey was pulling into our driveway.

A couple of minutes ago my Lightning Alert® app chimed; apparently there were recorded lightning strikes 20 mile to my south.

RNG- Thanks for the article. We'll see what does and does not happen.

Yep, I was motorcycling with a Canadian friend a few years ago near his home, on roads where towering pines came right up to the berm. If a deer had tried to cross, there would have been zero time to react. Yet he was going as fast as physics would allow, throwing the dice and taking his chances. He would wait for me at the intersections, as I'd already killed two deer with a motorcycle and didn't care to notch up any more...

While the oatmeal was nukeing in the microwave this morning, I took a stroll out to the propane line pressure gauge and was more than a little disappointed to see it reading 6 PSI.:irked: That was pretty much what I expected, though.
unionLeaker.jpg
In the firm belief that "it's always the last thing you did", and with more than a little luck, I dug down with the 'hoe and landed right on the big metal shield I'd made for the union that was installed for the repair. A few minutes with the narrow 3" trenching shovel had it clear enough to pressure test. With 30 PSI in the line I used some goopy leak check fluid to flood each of the joints, and didn't find a single bubble. Then again, I used the same stuff when I checked it before I buried it, and didn't see any bubbles then, either. I could only see the top side of the pipe, so I hiked back up to the garage and came back with a mirror and flashlight, and still no bubbles. So I felt along each joint with my fingers until I came up with a bubble on my finger. The union was leaking. Backed the ring off and it looked OK. I wanted to take it apart and clean the sealing surfaces, but there wasn't enough pipe sticking out in either direction to give the needed flexibility. Brought down 14" and 18" adjustable wrenches, and this time gave it a healthy dose of torque, much more than I used last time.

Gooped up the joints again, and no more bubbles, even after a half hour wait. Like that old Who lyric, though, "I won't be fooled again", so it's gonna sit overnight before I throw any dirt back into that hole. We're due for rain tomorrow, so likely it'll be a couple days sitting, the more the better.

I'm keeping my :crossfingers: until then...

Boy, snow is coming down hard! I think the 3-5 inch accumulation was way underestimated...if it keeps up to early tomorrow (0400 or so is the prediction)
