Good morning! 36˚F clear skies heading to the high 60s, another perfect day.

Eric you always look a the bright side, I really like your prediction of low cruise fares, I see already some are being reduced. Most people are locked in for 60 days with no refund unless you buy any reason cancellation insurance. If the scare continues in about two months the cruise lines will need to fill those cabins and there will be some good deals. I usually don't like mid to late summer cruises because of hurricanes in the Gulf and the Caribbean but If they need to fill the cabins I might have to help.

We finished widening the trail with the dozen volunteers working all day on the mile stretch. Next will be the mulching. Here is a pic from yesterday. IMG_3559.JPG

Good morning, temp is 1°F and going to 12. Wind W 11 mph. 60% chance of flurries.

I'm off to North Bay this morning, the shopping trip I postponed yesterday.

I don't know who controls the money situation between the U.S and Canada, all I know for sure is that the Canuck buck used to be worth 10 cents more than the U.S. greenback. That was a long time ago.

The trouble with snow pictures is they are all white. This is the scene from the operators' seat while my Kioti is warming up.

Have a safe day all

Poured first cup of coffee. 19° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading 25° with wind and some snow flurries. Took a nap yesterday afternoon. Not something I normally do. Grocery shopping this morning. Then back in to conserve energy. I am ready for warmer weather. Looks like I will get it starting Sunday.

Mostly, Mr G is principal of the school. A tricky way to get the kids to do something on a snow day.

Eric, I just do not want to be one of the fatalities. Prayers for everyone.

David, roof looks good. Any railing going up?

Randy, grandson visits are to be cherished.

Looking, I need to plan a trip to Canada. Found some Canadian Tire money stuck in a drawer. :D

Don, I have seen trail clearing like that. ;)

LS, Sassy is always willing to help other dogs. When it's time to go outside she always goes and gets Muffin.

PJ, must have had some good winds to coat trees with snow.

RNG, getting the the trenches done sounds like hard work. Like that Inversion may be helping.

Rick, your place looks like a park even with frost.

Good Morning All.

29 going to 48, maybe a little bit of snow this afternoon...but I think the NWS just likes to tease us.

Stayed cold and windy here, too, Buppies.

Ron, an afternoon nap can be a beautiful thing.

Almost stepped on a woodcock taking the woodstove ashes out this morning just before dawn. Heard them the last couple of mornings...they do some incredible mating flights.

Probably cut some firewood today, if the wind isn't too bad. I've got 3 trees targeted, glad none are near the creek.

Good morning. It's 39° and clear this morning. Forecast says sunny and 71° this afternoon.

I need to go into town to vote this morning as it's last day for early primary voting.

I lit a burn pile Tuesday afternoon and the big winds we had kept it going and down to nothing. Even most of the ash was blown away so ... nothing to clean up.

Don ... your trails look great. I know just how much hard work that takes.

Eric .. hoping your breakfast porridge went better today.

David .. your new roof looks great! I'm curious what color red paint you're using for your trim? I like that color!

Ron / Mostly .. thanks. We have about 20 acres that is pretty much untouched .. left wild .. to remind us of what this place looked like, when we bought this place, in 2006. That area gives the deer a place to hide as well.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Prayers to all.

For all those worrying about the Conona virus, we got to be more positive. If it does prove fatal to a good number, especially us older guys, just think how nice it will be for those who are spared to be driving on uncongested roads again. Also they will be able to go on vacation for a week or two (with some great deals on cruises), come home and catch up on the GM thread within just a few pages :)

Thanks for helping the rest of us more fully appreciate how the phrase "Mad dogs and Englishmen" came to be, Eric!:laughing:

But for a bit of perspective, I think I read that the death rate for the current strains of influenza are about 1 in 100, where the death rate for the Covid-19 influenza is about 3.5 in 100. That's more than a tripling, and certainly significant for those 3.5, but contracting Covid-19 isn't the automatic death sentence the media would like us to think it is.

Now how's this for a little "right back at you"? There's a lot of talk these days about the high cost of health care, much of it focused on the high cost of research needed to bring new drugs to market. Much of that expertise exists in the US, and the two largest efforts to develop a vaccine for Covid-19 I believe are in the US. Now I wonder who's going to pay for that research? If the private sector pays, the cost of a dose of that vaccine is apt to be rather high. If the US taxpayers pay, people will scream we're being taken advantage of by the rest of the world. So why don't we let the Chinese pay; after all, it was their poor health and sanitary practices that led to the virus crossing over from bats to humans. And their poorly managed efforts to contain the virus have made it a problem for all of us. Lets also not forget it would be very good help cut down the burgeoning trade deficit between our two nations as well.

Nice work! Is all of that done by hand, Don? If so, there must be a lot of healthy backs among those trail blazers!

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 4:15AM. Partly to mostly cloudy. High near 75F. Winds light and variable.

I'm jealous of your self cleaning brush piles, Rick. I'd very much like to light a couple of them here, but there are brisk winds due in tomorrow, and I'm already reading about wildfires being fought in Northern California. Some being escapes from burn piles...

Took care of some paperwork yesterday morning, then finished off the day running errands in town. Swung by the electrical supply to pick up the PVC fittings I ordered Monday, and was delighted to find the big metallic elbows had come in as well. As far as I know, everything's in hand to finish the conduit installation, and if I get that done today, I can request a visit from the building inspector for Monday. Not that there's any panic, as the rain forecast for the weekend seems to have been postponed for another week. I also picked up the parts to finish the storage container drain line, and just in case I run out of something to do, I can start pouring the concrete around the solar rack posts...

TGIF gang!:drink:
