Good morning!!!!

16°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 40° today.

Drove through a bevy of deer this morning about 1/2 mile up the road from the house. Probably a dozen or more from what I could see in the headlights on either side of the road. Been seeing them around that spot regularly lately, but not as many as today. I saw lots of deer tracks when I was out in the pasture last weekend as well. Seems the local population is prospering.

Be careful shoveling that heavy stuff, Randy.

18F this morning, rough day for FIL, they have to suction him often, hourly this morning around 1am. The doctors and nurses want to change the orders to DNR (no intubation or compressions). He us doing a bit better this morning, wife went back to hospital around 3am, her dad is just plain exhausted and gets disoriented and doesn't know why he is there or why so much pain.. He finally slept for an hour 4:30am-5:30am. Thanks all for your prayers and positive thoughts..

Frosty this morning, grand daughter is missing her Nana, wondering if great grandpa is going to die.

Stay safe and prayers for all

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 6:45AM. Partly cloudy. High 73F. Winds light and variable.

Glad the novelty of the snow hasn't worn off for you, Drew, and hope you have some fun playing with the snow blower today. I like your "gently" application of anti-snow force, hope Randy does the rest of the snow effected do the same.

With all the trench dirt out of the way I was able to lay out the pad for the generator again, and find I still need a short trench to get the gas line to come up where it needs to be. And while checking depth, there are a few places that don't measure up, er, down, but I'm not sure the trencher will fit on the upper terrace without hanging over the edge. So I might have to get the demolition hammer going again, as it's down to rock in the shallow spots.

Not much relief at the ophthalmologist's yesterday, just the usual "you're not as young as you used to be". He did recommend more frequent use of eye drops, and said he thinks I might be having "eye migraines" causing partial, but temporary, blindness. Could be worse, I guess.

Got more parts at a real electrical supply house, but they had to order the 90ー steel elbows I'll need up at the house. That's OK, as it'll probably take a couple of days to get the gas line and PVC conduit in place, and I haven't even started on the posts for the solar panels. It's an opportunity rich environment.

Big challenge today is to see if I can restore my ToDo list note that somehow got deleted off the iPhone yesterday, and then automagically disappeared off the laptops as well. Tried multiple times last night to restore an old copy using Apple's TimeMachine backup, but no luck there, either. Apple stuff is usually pretty reliable and easy to use, but in this case, not.:irked:

TGIF gang!:drink:

Good morning to all! Low of 25, going up a bit higher today. Yesterday only reached 36. I had mentioned that I was surprised that it was not snowing yesterday morning... well the fog was putting a very clear coat of ice on everything.... only problem was you could not see it. Nothing even looked wet.

Today is same scenario.... this time I know better.

Thanks for all the + comments on the furniture build. It is a very satisfying hobby. My only predicament is that I transfer the need for perfection and fine detail to larger construction projects where it really is not needed. Everything has to be square and tight!

It was a productive day yesterday. Wifey got her nails done (happy wifey), picked up the hinges and metal insert for the end table doors, did a small Costco run, and got the end tables into the house and in place (they meet approval and final inspection)(well, except for still missing doors):cool2:.

Buppies, good luck with the procedure at the Drs. Hope everything goes well.

Drew, have fun playing with the snowblower! Pretty snow scene of your property!

Hawkeye, congratulations on the retirement approval! Do not worry, you will find more work to do !

Thomas, you see more wildlife in one morning than I do in 4months. We have a lot of birds and rabbits that are seen daily, but everything else is a rare sighting. It is just too wide and open... no where for them to hide.

Eric, hope you are able to dry out over the next few days. When do the ewes come back? Did they have any lambs yet? Looking forward to the pics....:p

Everyone have a great day!

Nope, Home Depot gutters
Seamless, made on site would have been nice, but not in my plan.

I went the seamless gutter route here, David, and I'm a bit sorry I did. Unlike the good ol' days where heavy gauge galvanized steel was used for gutters and downspouts, the made in place stuff of today is thin aluminum that rings like a bell every time a drip or raindrop hits it. Some might like the sound, but in the wee hours of the morning when you're trying to sleep, you'd have to be a real devote of nature's wonders to not be irritated by all the racket. Had I to do it over again, I'd go with vinyl gutters and downspouts, probably from HD...

A clear and sunny 4ºF morning low temperature; a clear and sunny 17ºF presently; and I anticipate a clear and sunny afternoon with high temperature in the mid20ºF's.

Wifey AKA Peg thanks everyone for the + thoughts, prayers, and wishes both posted or thought.

I check my solar panel production occasionally to see how it is producing. I checked the production yesterday and saw that the last time I had any production was on 2.08.2020 when the voltage spiked and died. Now that I am finally getting decent sunshine this month and all I have is a really fancy open air shed made of PV panels that leaks. :( I contacted the company that installed, maintains, and monitors my system yesterday. They did respond quickly by email. I followed the directions for determining whether it was an inverter communication or production problem this morning and it appears that I have both. At least I got a little additional exercise.

I am constantly amazed at the skillsets exhibited here. I learn something new every day that I check in.

Eric- I am happy to read that your weather is improving.

Buppies- Good luck with your procedure.

BEF- I hope that you feel better soon.

Ted- Freezing fog and drizzle is worse than freezing rain IMO. I've had plenty of experience with all 3 this year; and it appears that more is on its way midweek.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

62° and .3 inches rain. Raining as I type but hopeful it stops and we can tackle the carport roof.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Just got off the phone with my manager (first call since being approved for early retirement).. since I am new to the group, he is not going to train me any further. To keep me busy and have a reason to pay me, he has given me a project. I get to document our team transition. He has 14 people counting me, 9 of the 14 got the early retirement offer, 5 took it. He has to make sure the work and knowledge gets properly transitioned to remaining team (and any new folks that get added in next month). Pretty straight forward for my files (just make sure all is on OneDrive and add manager to permissions), but others have official records that have to be stored properly, etc.

Maybe the real plan was to make work so awful it would provide incentive to more people to take the early retirement plan, since 1/3 of the group took it. You can do a month standing on your head if you have to, but hopefully it doesn't sound like it'll be that bad. I think one of the best things about retirement is being able to call your own shots, for the most part, anyway. There's still gummint intermittence!

Getting a project at work to finish out my month is nice, I should be able to do it easily and wrap up the rest of the transition for my old team.. I am surprised that my old team did not all leave (have not heard of anyone yet on old team retiring, know for sure the 2 folks that are getting my old work are not retiring).. The worldwide team that I spent much of my time working with the last 15 years have some folks leaving.. the one that I worked the most in my old role decided rather than working with the new guy, he would retire also.. a large chunk of knowledge is going out the door in 28 days. We have done the services development for a major part of the companies business over the last 15 years and having us both leave is interesting to say the least..

And after you leave, the managers will go to the new people picked to do your old job and ask, “How come YOU let all that knowledge leave?”
