Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 5:00AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 67F. Winds light and variable.

FWIW, the Headwaters seat covers I installed in the F250 in 2014 fit very well and are also holding up well. But I'm not thrilled with the material. It's tough, and would stand up just fine to Fido, but it's also a bit slick and grocery bags like to slide around on it. Yet it has a coarse texture to it, almost abrasive. It's a personal preference thing that some will like, but I wouldn't pick this particular material again. Headwaters sent out free cloth samples before I ordered, but I didn't realize they'd turn out like that...

Glad you're finally healing up, Buppies, and hope things go well for your next procedure and you heal quickly.

Got a lot of trench cleaned up yesterday, maybe too much. I'm sore in places I didn't even know could get sore, including my fingers. To get down off the terraces with the trencher, I covered the drop offs with dirt, and yesterday in the process of taking it back out with the FEL it filled in the trenches on the lowest terrace. Had to be done, though, as I can't tell where the gas line and electrical conduit need to end up with all that dirt piled everywhere. Tried to get the trencher started, but the battery is dated 2013 and it's a gonner. I hooked it up to a BatterySaver anyway yesterday, and am hoping for a miracle. When that doesn't happen, I'll get the jumper cables back out; that's what we've been doing. The neat thing about the trencher is that on the other end it has an articulating dozer blade, and the neighbor was able to use it to level out the upper terrace, the one that was giving me and the box blade fits. Now I'll try to mimic what he did on the lower terrace, then use that big toothed wheel to clean out the trenches down there again. Got to figure out how the brakes work first, though; I don't recall seeing a brake pedal yesterday when I was familiarizing myself with the controls.:confused2:

Don ... hope you can figure out your sheetrock issue. I'm meeting a sheetrock guy Friday to get Richmond house upstairs BR ceiling fixed where we had an HVAC condensation leak. I'll ask him about "SR expansion joints".

See if he knows someone out here to install it?

This talk of seat covers reminds me of the one and only time I added seat covers to a car myself. In 1958 or 59 I bought a 1955 Cadillac Coupe DeVille and I ordered, and installed seat covers from J. C. Whitney.:laughing: They actually fit and looked pretty good.

Today we start with 38 degrees going for 50 with a 30% chance of rain after noon, and a 100% chance of rain tonight in the forecast. I'm actually lookin forward to some dry weather in the near future so I can mow the yard.

Bird, I used to really enjoy perusing the JC Whitney catalogs in my younger days, especially the VW specific ones. I always used to ooh and aah at all the cool things I could do to my '73 Super Beetle. The only thing I ever bought from them, though, was one of those 12v dash-mount heaters to use as a defroster in winter, as the heat channels were almost completely rusted out on that car.

RNG, thermostatically controlled 10k propane heater in greenhouse, keeps it around 60 when very cold outside. Hopefully snow will melt with it hits warmer surface...
time to get out the snowblower
epidural appt cancelled on Friday, which while not good means I don't have to drive in any of this. Just wait until it melts.
But right in front at end of lane is shady area and black ice, goes straight from dry road in sun to black ice. And I collect more ruts in my lawn. No one ever gets hurt because the ditch sort of traps you and may do a number on your undercarriage but they sort of skid along until they stop.

Going to have to insulated bag some shrubs before Friday night, some lilacs and other varieties won't like this at all. Snow is never heavy enough to hurt anything unless it's in March and then lots of flowers are ruined. Not much flowering yet and pretty hard to hurt a daffodil.

landscaper helpers just took out my broken stair chair, happier ending in that I called my electrician and asked if he
wanted it, and he said absolutely, he wanted to fix it which he can with the guts out and on his bench. So the ancient stair chair gets recycled and hopefully
will be helping some granny get upstairs for years to come. Really trying to keep as much stuff as possible out of dump.

neighbor coming over after lunch to help me sharpen blades on JD garden tractor and do a full lube on it. He is going to be mowing my lawn this year, with the landscaper as backup. So I'm making sure he knows where all the lube points are.
He sold his powerwashing business so he really wanted this job. Ok. He's pretty OCD about maintenance being an engineer in the fire co.

just slowly crossing things off the must do list. That feels good.

17F this morning, sure do miss having my wife home.. woke several times during the night and she was not there... she is back visiting her father in the hospital.. he has been in ICU for a week now.. improving but not out of the woods yet.

Grand daughter is loving having Papa be the one to take her to the school bus stop, read books, etc..

Thanks for the link. That’s pretty much what I am doing. Except I have some 1/2” X 6” aluminum plate I am making it out of.

Has anyone installed an Expansion joint in sheetrock? I have a returning crack in a long expanse, about 30' of ceiling sheetrock, right outside a tray ceiling. the crack is only about 2' long. I can't seem to find a repair person that will call me back and the youtubes don't explain how the sheetrock is attached to the studs closest to the joint. And yes Ron I have a cousin that I will probably end up calling but he just had neck surgery so he would just be a consultant. I was in Home depot and saw a local handy man and asked him if he installed expansion joints and he has never heard of them and thought it was a good idea I should market. HD does not carry expansion joints. This is the 4th time the crack has come back - always in the near spring when we have wide temperature changes.

Don - I don't know if this applies to your situation, but we had a recurring crack on a long stretch where ceiling met wall. When cold weather arrived a truss would pull the ceiling up and crack the drywall, it would not quite come together in the spring. After many unsuccessful patches we cut out a small (~20"x48") piece of ceiling drywall and attached the patch only at the edges, and not attaching it to the offending truss. Problem solved. Now that truss can move all it wants with the changing seasons without affecting the ceiling. Maybe you have some over-active framing that needs to get isolated.

I started cardio rehab this morning, worst part is warm up, I’m a no rhythm white boy, so dancing is not my long suit. The workouts are not bad, I’ll be doing three days a week. My sugar dropped 26 points in 50 minutes. Heart rate and BP stayed good. It wasn’t that bad.

That sounds awesome. I have no rhythm also. What are you doing for warmup? Using a stationary bike or treadmill albeit boring work well. Lots of people like elliptical trainers but I’ve only tried one once.... not a fan.

Thanks, that might be it. I check out the framing when I get in the attic. I think the crack is moving back and forth and not up and down. It is at two corners of the tray ceiling, so I suspect something is moving in the 100˚ temp changes.

RNG thanks for the link on the expansion joints. If I do put one up I'll have to add a second stud and the expansion joint connects the studs with an inch in-between.

Seat covers are going in good. They look rugged, kind of a Carhartt jean material but charcoal gray. The fit is good and there is double stiching around all the holes for the seat releases, the headrest, and the seatbelt. The material still has wrinkle fold marks so a pic would not give it justice but I might take one and will expect your disappointment if you are a perfectionist. I'll feel a lot better jumping in the truck after sweating and dirty in the 100+ ˚ days here in Texas. These go on and off easy and are machine washable, a must. They also have breakaway sticking on the sides (instead of open on the sides) of the front seats so the seat airbags can function.
