Good morning to all! Low of 31, going up to a forecasted 50.... the temp has only gone up to 33 over the last 3 hours, so I think that high is doubtful. Very overcast and low ceiling clouds. Looks like snow weather.

Randy, good luck with the rehab, it will build your endurance back up.

Drew, sorry to hear about the cancellation, hopefully they will reschedule quickly. I hope all the buds / plants endure the snow without too much damage.

David, nice progress on the carport. It will be done soon! Have you thought about the next concrete project yet? Here’s an idea.... you have done all flat work... maybe try your hand at doing a vertical curb on the side that is cut into the ground. Might be an interesting project.

I am drooling already... we are going to make what we call “ pig burgers “ for dinner tonight. They are 75% beef, 25% ground pork. I put them in the smoker with mesquite chips, for about 45 min at around 300 degrees. Really juicy and tender. Gonna have seasoned potato slices and corn.

Got some seat time on the tractor yesterday. Fixed my booboos in the driveway. The neighbor saw me and walked over to ask if I could level out an area for a shed he is having delivered. That “ quick level “ turned into trimming up a tree that had branches encroaching into the area, cleaning up the cuttings, pulling up 3 fence posts, rough grading the area, and getting some fill dirt from my pile and driving it across to his property. 20 minutes turned into 3 hours. Needless to say, I did not get a chance to work on the end tables.

When my son got home from work, he came over and asked if I could help him put up some wall panels in the garage. He is using 4x10 ft OSB panels. Not too bad to cut and put in place, time consuming to put in all the screws.... overall, about 20 minutes per panel. Every panel has either an electrical outlet to cut out or a window opening. It will be nice to be able to hang anything, anywhere, without having to find a stud. We are planning on doing a few panels each evening, should be done by the weekend. He really wants to get to staining the concrete. That should be a neat process / project.
I / we have never done stained concrete before....

I am determined to work on the end tables today!

Bird, I used to really enjoy perusing the JC Whitney catalogs in my younger days, especially the VW specific ones. I always used to ooh and aah at all the cool things I could do to my '73 Super Beetle. The only thing I ever bought from them, though, was one of those 12v dash-mount heaters to use as a defroster in winter, as the heat channels were almost completely rusted out on that car.

I guess it was 1968 when I bought a 305 Yamaha motorcycle to ride to and from work in Downtown Dallas. With a car, I had to pay to park and walk 2 or 3 blocks, but I could part a motorcycle free right by the City Hall. And I ordered crash bars, windshield, and saddle bags from J. C. Whitney for that bike. The only time I was disappointed in J.C. Whitney was when I ordered a complete set of fishing equipment and when it arrived, it looked like a kid's toy set, so I promptly returned it for a refund with no problem.

Ted, that is one of the options being considered.

Acid staining concrete - recommendation is to allow 30 days to cure before staining. We stained whole house, but before putting walls up. Used a garden sprayer. We like it.

Kekoa comes a running whenever he hears the golf cart. Not quite the same enthusiasm as Pele. She would just lay on the seat in hopes of a ride. Often times, I’d oblige, just hop on and take her for a spin with no other purpose.

That sounds awesome. I have no rhythm also. What are you doing for warmup? Using a stationary bike or treadmill albeit boring work well. Lots of people like elliptical trainers but I’ve only tried one once.... not a fan.

Thanks, that might be it. I check out the framing when I get in the attic. I think the crack is moving back and forth and not up and down. It is at two corners of the tray ceiling, so I suspect something is moving in the 100˚ temp changes.

RNG thanks for the link on the expansion joints. If I do put one up I'll have to add a second stud and the expansion joint connects the studs with an inch in-between.

Seat covers are going in good. They look rugged, kind of a Carhartt jean material but charcoal gray. The fit is good and there is double stiching around all the holes for the seat releases, the headrest, and the seatbelt. The material still has wrinkle fold marks so a pic would not give it justice but I might take one and will expect your disappointment if you are a perfectionist. I'll feel a lot better jumping in the truck after sweating and dirty in the 100+ ˚ days here in Texas. These go on and off easy and are machine washable, a must. They also have breakaway sticking on the sides (instead of open on the sides) of the front seats so the seat airbags can function.

No body is looking to critique your skills, I just want to see the cover for ideas for my back seat. I’m sure a little steam would take the wrinkles out.

Don, if you have cloth upholstery, nice to give it some protection, but not if it feels too rough. Nor do you want it slip slidey.
Cover needs to get pressed into final spot over time.
I always wanted cloth seats and never could get them with nav or safety tech. Tired of sliding around on leather and none of my cars are fancy
enough for grippy stuff like Alacantra. Now Rick's new Corvette will have the grippy stuff. Right Rick?

I'm pretty sure my next older brother, a long time car guy, will order a new Corvette once he has sat in one. He has owned a number of them, including a recent Z06 with 650 hp and it simply was too powerful. Too easy to lose control and scare yourself. New Corvette with almost 500hp standard has usable power for us mortal men who don't want to lose control in second gear if you floor it. The fun is winding it out but not if you are losing grip with the road.
Used to be the insurance companies put a damper on high performance. I think Tesla blew that in the weeds.
With these awd cars, including Porsche's new $200k electric hypercar, you really can get your cheeks rubbery in the acceleration.
1.9 seconds to 60mph.
Not sure that would feel good on my neck actually...
But one would look pretty good in Rick's garage. I'm sure he could make room.

spent two hours sharpening blades and doing maintenance with help of fireman neighbor, we went over every grease point on diesel JD garden tractor, then greased the larger tractor.
I'm a greaser so lot of grease flung around, but you wipe that grease off and it sure is nice and shiny underneath. Like cosmoline. Really wish I had a heated pressure washer; #2 black grease is a mess. And I wipe zerks before and after, but particularly on pto shaft, after a while it seems to get everywhere, including on my pants constantly. Otherwise got it all done and happy to sit down and do nothing.

Miserable weather coming in. I have to cover some of the shrubs if it's headed to 20. 3 to 5 inches, hard to believe. Gotta pull out the snowblower and gather up the heavy long cords I've got. First have to test it to see how far it throws and then figure out a pattern ahead of time. Big open area in parking area, unit will throw maybe half way perhaps so figure I'll go to the center and work my way out. Back and forth and don't run over the cord...
Snow day coming for sure. Kids are likely thrilled. School system is real chicken, has to be, almost no snow clearing equipment maintained

There were 6 pieces for the back seat 3 for the headrests, one for the pull out center armrest/cup holder, one for the back of the bench seat and one for the bottom of the bench seat. They are held in place by straps and elastic and velcro. There is really no way to mess up installation, they are idiot proof. I took the truck for a test ride and put some groceries in the back seat and they did not slide around. Tomorrow Whipper gets a test ride.

Had a nice lunch yesterday with my bride, too. After the gym, went to a nice place and split a vegetable calzone. Then roasted some beans.

Was planning on visiting my mom in Virginia Beach, but they are calling for 4 to 7 inches of snow. I don't mind driving in it, but not that far in the dark with snow on the way home. Instead, have a number of things to catch up here.
