Good morning!!!!

I have a question for all the REAL concrete kings out there.

What's the biggest pad you would pour of you didn't have anyone to help you?

10' x 12'?

5' x 12'?

5' x 6'?

There's an outfit that will sell a cubic yard of concrete in a trailer, sort of like a miniature concrete truck.

The whole 10' x 12' pad, 5" deep, needs almost 2 yards, so it makes sense to do two 5' x 12' pours, along the lines that Ted did for his son's new garage. Just trying to get a feel if that's reasonable to tackle on my own...

So if I understand correctly, 2 loads of 1 cuyd each. So you are only spreading, screeding, floating, not mixing. So I would say you could reasonably due 2 @5x12. Even better if you can get a helper.
Sometimes a driver will help spread initially. How long between loads?

If possible have a few days or more between pours so you can take off the frame and put in an expansion filler between slabs and can stand on the first while working the second,

Good evening all. 39F this morning, rain, light wind, .9 inch in the rain gauge. Wind was light with moderate gusts, rain stopped in the morning, and a peak of sunshine at 5:30PM. High temp was 45F. Low water crossing #2 was closed for about 7 hours today, normally 1 inch of rain would not close it. Not much rain in the 10 day, next week had a lot more rain forecast a couple of days ago. Work on insert and revive fire to start day, then off to Men's meeting, puttering and nap.
Roy, good news Wife and stepdaughter return and chute.
Buppies hope the real estate the dr feels the need to remove is not too large.
Billy 18F is cold!
Ron dog sitting will recommence tomorrow night here, no one has told Scooter either. Have not seen a black squirrel either.
RNG Good luck getting the posts vertical and correct height.
Thomas the nerve of you having your Emuffin first :D Have fun with your upcoming snowfall.
Rick, thanks for pics.
Drew you sound perkier this morning, hope they can help your neck so you can travel of live aboard or what ever else strikes your fancy.
Hawkeye, glad you can get crown early.
Ted nice video on the rafters, when does the roof sheeting go on?
Irv, welcome back, good luck with your parents, and catching up in a couple of days :D
PJ sorry about the loss of paying for breakfast and gas in 1 bill sounds frustrating, especially if drive-offs not a problem
Ron glad remote worked for you. Also glad Sassy still talking to you, Scooter always in bad mood after vet.
Drew 40 mph is some serious wind, hope you don't get too much damage.
Don enjoy your new dish.
Randy the echocardiogram just routine follow up? Hope Ellen like new car, keep us posted on Monte's replacement
prayers for all.

30 right now...high in the lower mid-30's today. We're supposed to get some snow but predictions vary quite a bit.

   / Good morning!!!! #106,705
Good morning, the temp is 4 above and the high will be zero. Wind N 15 gusting to 23 mph. Flurries with local blowing snow. Drifting possible. The weather guessers are predicting -24°F for tonight. There definately will be some frost on the pumpkin tonight.

A dump run is in the cards for today.

My mechanic tells me that the reason the Dodge only has a 400 watt block heater is because of the aluminum engine block and heads. I think that is so much BS. My '65 Chevy had 2 block heaters in that SB engine. Kept it at 100° F during the coldest nights. Granted the engine was all steel.

Have a safe day all

BEF, do not let the info about the secret bunker get out.....

Good luck with that request - I think BEF already worked out where I live and now ...

Good morning all. While out checking up on the sheep, over the brow of a small rise that goes down to the big pond I saw a fox, laid across a rabbit burrow. At first I thought it was sure to have heard me and was about to run off, it is hard to walk quietly on sodden ground. It didn't though and as I got closer, I realised the rabbits had no cause for concern, the fox was as dead as a Monty Python parrot. The only blemish I could see was a round red mark on one leg, with a ring of dry skin, as in ringworm, nothing that looked fatal. I am struggling to think when I last saw a fully grown fox die out in the open without the help of a bullet. Like cats, they must take themselves off to a secluded place, so I assume this one hadn't realised the end was near, maybe it was a heart attack.

This is where Don can say, if only it had made the switch to a plant based diet :)

PJ, I am curious about how pre-paying for fuel works. Does the pump automatically cut out when it has delivered what you paid for ? What happens if you guessed wrong and it didn't take as much to fill as you thought ? Or does it just have your credit card details and debits it once you have filled up ? I am sure I would sometimes forget and drive off without putting anything in the tank. Sounds like an incentive for you to switch to all electric vehicle and do most of the refuelling at home.

good morning. Very warm day today, 65 now going up to 80 in showers. Bill I'll try to send some of this warmth your way.

need to find a new barber this morning, always a challenge. Then this afternoon off to doc's to have my mri reports given. Doctor is a PA, not an MD so hope I'll be referred to doc/surgeon based on MRI.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 26° with snow this morning. Heading to 30° with light snow most of the day. Sassy is giving the look like when I tried the wireless fence on her. Did sleep all night with no complaints. Does not want to eat or drink. Using a sponge swab to get some water in her. Will be calling Vet this morning.
Got about 1" of fresh snow overnight. Already cleared snow off walkways this morning. Need to get tractor out and clean dog walk area.

Irv, good to see your post. Prayers for your parents.

Drew, hope your MRI shows easy fix. I need a haircut. Gentleman's Grooming barber business is thriving. I need to make an appointment to get one.

David, sheet metal arrived.

RNG, I poured with my little mixer the floor in my cellar in one day. 12' X 16' X 4". I do not remember how tired I was next day. I think that was the start of my arm going bad.

Randy, glad your electrocardiogram report was good. Ellen gets a new car.

Looking, I may get a below zero tomorrow morning. Brrrrrrrrrrr!!

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Looks like hasn't been there long also no predator shown interest could be sickness or sort,if so I would bury fox deep.
Our red foxes live about 2-4 years in the wild

46 and rain going to 62. Crocus and daffodils blooming...too early with temps in teens coming. Thomas, got my outside chores done, too.

Ted, looking at your snow photo makes me drool for some.

Ron, hope Sassy perks up and forgives you :). Coco was slow after her spaying.

Buppies, sounds like good progress on your brush clearing.

Randy, sounds like a sweet valentine-colored SUV for Ellen. I bet she will love it.

Paul, speaking of gas stations, filled up for $2.03 yesterday at Sheetz, after my discount.

So wet outside, I went to the gym, too, Don, for my exercise. Also needed to pick up some groceries. My wife has been staying with her mom for the last week, due to some fainting. I've been making lots of salads...need to pull out the IP we bought a couple of weeks ago and figure out how to use and what to cook. As soon as I typed IP, an ad popped onto the bottom of the TBN page for a Ninja pressure cooker. Let me try again, IP IP IP. Yep.

Good morning! 37˚F heading to 50˚F, clear skies light North wind.

Wow Ron I could get the works there for only $110. Sassy needs "the works", she looks perturbed.
My barber now charges $14 and punches a card. After 12 punches the haircut is free. There are 6 chairs there each each has a big, burley, good-o-boy barber. Take a number when you get in and you get called in about 10 minutes, it's always busy.

Time to walk the Whip.

   / Good morning!!!! #106,719
Good morning to all! Low of 12, currently 19, going up to 42. Sunny and no wind.

I did not get out to use the tractor to plow yesterday, the wind kicked up and started drifting the snow.... no use to fight that. I will clean up the few drifts today.

Buppies and Drew , positive thoughts and good luck with your appointments today.

Randy, that is good news.... you definitely ‘ take a licking and keep on ticking ‘. Nice choice for a vehicle.

Ron, Sassy sure looks mad... her attitude is probably caused by after effects of anesthesia.

Eric, I see..... I have not seen any signs... yet

Everyone have a great day!

RNG, a 5 x 12 slab would be doable for one person. Especially if you will be using one of those haul your own concrete trailers. They have a time limit for you to return them. You will basically have enough time to get it, pour it, float it, clean the trailer, and return it. By the time you get back, the concrete will be ready to finish.

When we did the garage slabs, they were 12 x 24. They were way too big for both of us. It really got away from us and was really difficult to finish. We both agree that if we were doing it over, we would have divided it into 4 sections, each 12x12. The only reason we did not do that initially was because of the short load delivery fee. It would have cost $150 more for each load, X4 loads = $600. With a full load (over 6 yards) delivery was only $50.

So, it was decided to save that $500.... it also kicked our butts. When he is going to do the apron in front of the garage, he is going to do 6x12 sections, using the haul your own carts. The ones here can do either 1 yd or 1.25 yds.

Like Don said, if you can get one helper, it would be a bit easier. Also doing one 5x12 per day would be better.

Sorry for rambling on..... it is still fresh in my mind...
