good morning all. Nice day today, going up to 60 in sunshine.
Will be a slow day, intentionally, babying my back which is slightly better but still weak and hard to climb stairs.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

Was looking at my W2 and numbers didn’t make sense, so I entered every paycheck line item into a spreadsheet.
Turns out, the W2 uses common core math.
The gross pay included what company pays for group term life (GTL) insurance, Short and Long term disability insurance in addition to pay.
Then they add GTL to the total, then subtracted it out again (combining it with another subtraction so it wasn’t obvious). They also subtracted my SHort term disability payments (so they are not taxed), subtracted my 401k payments and a couple other things to arrive at my Box1 income. Was just weird the way they did it. If you ever dealt with common core math, they would solve problems like that, add in 20, then subtract 10 twice on the way to getting an answer. Totally correct in the end, but confusing as crap to the poor little kid trying to learn basic subtraction.

And I’m still trying to get payroll to refund me for an extra set of benefits they took out last year. We had 26 biweekly pays, they took out 27 benefits. Then when they presented me with a spreadsheet of their findings, it had basic errors like wrong and missing amounts. So now they are redoing it.
I said just take the total amount and divide by the biweekly benefit amount, it comes to 27 for every item.
And these people figure out our paychecks.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 30° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 47° with some sun in afternoon. Taxes are done and sent after I added some interest that I missed. Surprised I had to pay tax on the EE savings bond interest. I cashed last year. Going to visit my aunt and uncle in Port Huron today.
Looks like no matter what the rodent in PA sees today. We will have 46 more day of winter. 6.5 weeks. Maybe Wiarton Wille will have a better forecast. :confused3:

Jay, I have 4 different breeds of woodpeckers that come to feeders. I have seen all 4 0n the 3 suet baskets at one time. Each on a different side. Blue Jays rule the other feeders. Until one of the larger woodpeckers show up. Cardinals are the only bird I get that fly into my windows. So far I have not seen one that did not recover from the instant stop.

Wngsprd, glad you found a sound close to what you wife heard. Chainsaw accidents. Be careful with using one.

Buckeye, good to hear FIL is getting better.

Drew, glad you are seeing some improvement with your back.

Buppies, sounds like a nice purchase.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

On of the things I like about my home today. Is it has no stairs. There are 4 steps too front door. But I never use that door. Does your place have a bedroom and bathroom on main floor?
At one time we were looking at adding a second floor.

Good evening all. 30F this morning, partly cloudy calm wind. Another low wind day, sky cleared off quickly, and high temp was 65F. Bike ride this morning, nap after lunch and that was it. Saw a cow with interesting horn, stopped and snapped pic.
Billy there are a lot of critters that make the eeriest crys, good luck narrowing the field.
Roy good to hear battery still good. Have a day or 2 of dog sitting myself, Scooter gets mopey just after he gets dropped off.

Eric that is heresy suggesting PJ sell guitars !!

At one time we were looking at adding a second floor.

Most of house is on first floor, and all houses here are raised about four feet off the ground with no basements.
Office with main pc is on second floor, and the irony of this is I have a chair lift to the second floor, and wouldn't you know it broke a month ago when now I really need it...

beautiful sunny morning here, bright blue sky, clear as a bell.

those cattle are very neat, horns are amazing

Good morning. It's 45° and clear here with no wind. Forecast says 77° here this afternoon.

The Giant Rat in PA says it will be an early spring. We certainly haven't had much of a winter here ... grass is already growing.

I did take advantage of low winds yesterday and got another burn pile lit.

I got a half dozen cedars cut down yesterday while monitoring the fire ... so job today will be moving them to get ready for next burning. I also pushed over a dead oak .. about 40' tall. I'll need to cut that one into 2-3 sections to get between other trees and move it to a new burn pile.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

Prayers to all.

Good morning to all! Low was 25, going for 55, sunny at first, but clouds moving in by afternoon. The forecasters were saying heavy snow tomorrow and Tuesday for us, but now are forecast is for only high winds....joy!

BEF, glad your FIL is doing better. Sorry to read about your HR difficulty.

Drew, sounds like you have a good plan for today. Take care of the back!

Forgot that today we are making our monthly supply of dog food. It does not take all day, but will eat up at least half... so delay getting out to the shop...

Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday!

Good morning, low 27°F and the high will be 32. Wind SSW 9 mph. 40 % chance of periods of snow.

My 10' wide driveway is now 14-16' wide after I pushed the banks back yesterday. I tell everybody that comes in the driveway to "stay in the middle". So far, nobody has needed a tow truck. The snow under the previous banks isn't frozen yet and therefore very soft. Easy to get stuck in.

Today is an energy conservation day.

Have a safe day all

Very good point, L4N. I always clear my driveways extra wide at the beginning of the snow season, until they get frozen good and hard. It’s a real pain heading backwards with the (rear) snow blower when you go off of the frozen part of the road and sink to the soft snow at the edge.

An overcast 27ºF with light snow falling for today’s low temperature. 34ºF presently with increasing sunshine, and I anticipate a partly sunny afternoon with high temperature ~ 37ºF. Not a lot planned for today other than the usual Winter daily tasks, making football TV viewing snack foods later, and probably napping during the Super Bowl and missing some decent commercials. My solar powered battery tender seems to be working; too bad I do not see any decent reason for seat time on the tractor.

Billy- Just another reason to fear widow makers, my chainsaw, and using it. I am happy to read that you have a match. I’ve heard all kinds of strange screams around here with many of the suspects mentioned by others… and a couple that I never could ID (another reason for a game cam;)).

Bruce- Thanks for sharing the picture. I have never seen horns like that before.

Rick- Thanks for the link.

Drew- I am happy to read that there is some improvement with your back/spine situation. I hope that your challenges continue to resolve through relaxation.

RonJH- The Mourning Doves rule here just by their numbers- I am consistently getting counts in the low 30’s at the feeders. I get bug-eyed  some days with the counting craziness. I’ve been lucky this year regarding windowpane bird hit fatalities (1 so far). Cardinals seem particularly “robust.”

I hope that everyone is having the Sunday they anticipated.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Rick, another 6 weeks at least. People ask me when it will stop snowing and I always tell them that the snow will stop by Labour Day weekend. We can expect snow anytime after LD as well.

64°F and .29 inches rain.

It’s Super Bowl Sunday !!!! Afternoon game for us.

Got my gussets and brackets installed yesterday. Would like to get some anchor bolts drilled and in place this morning.

Off to neighbor’s annual SB gathering later. Lot of traditional local luau food plus pot luck. Wife made her infamous banana rum cake.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

That is why I use my loader bucket and a back blade. At least with the loader, I can pry myself out. I haven't used my snow blower in 5 years.

At one time we were looking at adding a second floor.

That was a major decision when we decided to move and a challenge when we looked at existing houses that led us to designing our own. Single level, no stairs.

A combination of the wedge type and epoxy set. Carport kit came with the wedge, but only 1 per section. I had already bought 5/8 epoxy type when I was doing my own design. I will place 2-3 per 5ft section depending which side and the freestanding legs, 15 total.
