Good morning!!!!

On of the things I like about my home today. Is it has no stairs. There are 4 steps too front door. But I never use that door. Does your place have a bedroom and bathroom on main floor?
At one time we were looking at adding a second floor.

Good planning. When I built my house 26 years ago aging at home was considered, although truth be told when you are still in your early forties design and style are primary.

I just took this pic of my front door. Ifs a single level home, referred to as a rancher in this part of the country.

Adjustments.jpg

The following year, I helped my mother build a house next door with “one low step” entry. She’s been gone 15 years now but I am quite certain it helped make her final years living on the farm happy.

Good afternoon and Mid-Winter-day! The day I walk outside to see if I see my shadow. If I don't it will be cold today If I do it will be 80˚F in 6 hours. I saw my shadow.

By the time wifey and I really need our "geriatric" styled bathroom upstairs we will be unable to get there.:(

I can barely contain my excitement over tonight's possibility for snow. :( Epic digital snowfall for midweek according to the weather models = a mixed precipitation weather event around here. :(

I have made it out to the shop! First panel glued up nicely from the other day, next panel in clamps, 1 ready to go, last one needs a few more pieces cut...?? ... I must have miscounted when I was ripping them. I might get to cutting the rips for the tops and shelves for the next phase...

52F @ 2:15PM. Sunny. High 57F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Higher wind gusts possible.
The wind was calm and the sun warm yesterday in the Sacramento River Delta, perfect for a campout. It was also nice to see a couple dozen other Vanagon campers, and a few of the older air cooled buses, too. Only one fellow rode a motorcycle, an air cooled BMW similar to my touring bike. We're all gettin' older. The highlight of the day, though, was the pot luck dinner. Lots of good cooks in this group. I'm not one of them; I stopped in at Costco on the way down and picked up a party platter of croissant sandwiches. For some reason I was the only one to eat one at dinner, probably because there were just too many other wonderful choices. But by bed time, the platter was empty. Good to see old friends and make some new ones for sure.

The clouds came in and the winds picked up by morning, and the sky was blood red as the sun approached the horizon under a deck of black clouds. Very dramatic. But the wind kept the fog away, which usually has everything just dripping, inside and out of the tent. I'm happy to report that the van stayed dry and comfortable inside, and the same mat and sleeping bag I use in a tent worked just fine in the van. And having a full sized pillow was a little slice of :cloud9:.

I found a gal selling one of the Costco inversion tables, the one with the heating pad and massager, for half price, so I made arrangements to pick it up this morning. It looked pretty much brand new, as neither her or her husband could tolerate being upside down. I set it up when I got home, set the balance point so it was easy to get to and back up from the "easy" 20° incline position, then advanced the setting to 40°, set the heat/massage timer for 5 minutes, and tried it out. The buzzing felt good, but the small of my back was arched up above the pad and didn't get much of either the vibration or the heat, but my neck and shoulders enjoyed it. I didn't experience the popping some of my friends found to be such a relief, but I want to take it easy and work up to that. My back was sore when I got up this morning, and even more so after the drive, and that first five minute helped but wasn't a cure all. I'll go for another five minute round before dinner, and see how that goes.

Here's a quick video of the groundbreaking for the solar power system.

No more Public Safety Power Shutoffs for me...:cool2:

Good evening all. 37F for the start, clear sky, calm wind. Wind picked up a lot, gusts were topping 25, Sky started to cloud up late afternoon, and high temp was 80F. Chapel to start the day, cooked breakfast for wife, DASH, bike ride, and BBQ brats for dinner. Watched some Super Bowel.
Bill, moving the snowbanks back makes it easier to deal with doesn't it?
Billy there were 2 cows in the trailer, the guys were working with, not sure if the Watusi was coming or going. First time I have seen it. They don't call them widow makers for nothing.
Buckeye, crazy story about tree trimming. the story about your deductions is crazier!!
Buppies congrats on new acquisition.
Rick thanks for the ID, first Watusi that I have seen.
Rick you realize that the rodent is wrong 60% of the time. we have snow in forecast for Wednesday.
Drew hope you get chair lift fixed soon.
David sounds like fun.
Don, so warm during bike ride I experienced heavy sweat. After tomorrow will be wearing everything I own.
Randy, food sounds good.
Ted nice progress.
RNG, sounds like nice weekend, nice video on the holes.
Buckeye, I liked it.
prayers for all.

Good morning all. It is so much better to wake up in a morning now that February has arrived, with a hint of daylight showing through the window before the alarm goes off. By 7 am outside, even with cloud cover, my eyes are just able to make that transition from seeing only in black and white to colour.

RNG, great to see your solar project starting to come together. You have a good backhoe operator, like the way he spreads the dirt out each time, he's making a lot less mess than the moles in my field.

Apart from on distant hills, we haven't seen any snow yet this year. Always enjoy seeing pictures of a good snowfall, if anyone has the time to take a pic after all that ploughing/blowing and feeding the huskies.

Good morning, temp is all of 29°F and the high will be 30. Wind WSW 11 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

Shoving the snow banks (windrow) back makes room for more snow when I scrape with the back blade. I am chained up all the way around and the amount of snow that I pull with the BB is enough to put the tractor sideways, even in 4 wd with the axle lock on.

The part of the city that I plowed, the people would just get their driveways cleared and along I would come and fill in the mouth again with snow. That would usually get me a shovel in the windshield. One 'older gentleman' on a seldom used road I took pity on and turned the plow around and cleaned out his driveway with the truck plow. This old guy was about 80 then. Remember, this all happened 30 years ago. I had one dead end road that when I went to turn around, in the mirrors it is real hard to see the white laneway I had to back into, with all the white snow all around. I used to pull ahead enough to maybe make it into the lane, get out and put my fire extinguisher in the snow where the driveway met the road. As long as I didn't run over the FE then I was good. It is a lot easier to see red on white than it is to try and see white on white.

Have a safe day all

42 looking for 71 today. Eric, we need a good snow here, too.

Hoping Buppies' wind doesn't make it over here since I plan to spray some Flex Seal on an old clear fiberglas panel on my little barn roof. Saw some drips during the last rain. Buppies, not too windy to enjoy shooting your new guns, I hope.

I thought the Watusi was a 1960s dance???

RNG, nice start on your solar install.

Roy, enjoy your time off with Bella.

I found my mistakes in the financials and finished the farm statements and taxes. Will review everything today before mailing out K-1s and financial packages. Then start on my own taxes and MIL's and son's.

Poured first cup of coffee. 27ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 47ー with some clouds. Good trip to Port Huron yesterday. Dr appointment this morning. E-file taxes got rejected. Wife's AGI is wrong. :confused3: Put 0 in and resubmitted. May have to mail it in. No other plans today.

Eric, with yesterdays warm temperatures. Nothing but small patches of snow left on ground. May get some later this week.

RNG, good video. Progress!

Don, is winter over in TX?

Roy, good luck on dump being open. Does Bella ride with you on these trips?

Buppies, did not watch or record super bowl. Glad it was a good one.

Good Morning All.

Don, is winter over in TX?

I thought it was yesterday. I Had to put on t-shirt and shorts to walk the Whip as temps reached 78˚F. We went on an extended hike.
"Bee Cave Bob" however saw his shadow yesterday also and agrees with the rat. They say early Spring but it will be freezing by Wednesday. (so both are probably wrong)

The gardens are busy as people are preparing their organic soil for the spring. Best date for planting potatoes here is Feb 26. Gots lots of seat time in and might have to start sharing it, with all the demand I can't keep up. Too bad Drew has his heart set on moving North. My Kale/beat/cilantro/broccoli/fennel garden is doing so good I don't want to pull it to make room for the potatoes, but seasons change. I'll have to find out how to prepare kale to store in the freezer. We use the greens in soups, chili, burgers, enchiladas, etc . . .

Oh, 55˚F heading to 65˚F cloudy 20% chance of rain, cold front coming Tuesday.
