Drank both cup of coffee. 53° with heavy rain this morning. Heading to 35° by lunch time. 1.5" of rain so far. Forecast another 1.2" maybe changing to freezing rain. Dr appointment went well yesterday. But need to get a MIR to make sure. Going to a fishing show with son today.

Don, the storm is massive. Same one is what is hitting this area. Missing air compressor? Lots of people in your community that could use it.

Glad the Texas folks here did not get the baseball hail. Mostly, hope your road is now open. Speaking of Texas, I'm just starting Brian Kilmeade's new book on Sam Houston...he was my childhood hero and my wife gave me the book for Christmas.

Started work yesterday building a new bottom and adding sides on a pallet for firewood...just using scrap lumber and some repurposed hardware...but I need a few more bolts and lag screws, so will drop into TSC when in town. RNG, your TSC/retiree story was a real hoot.

With warm temps, may wash the truck, although it will get dirty again from rains this week.

I need to build a firewood pallet. Years ago the roll roofing blew off my covered firewood storage area behind my shed, then the roof rotted out. Now some of the firewood is rotten. I keep meaning to try to save some of it. A winter job, when no snake danger. I want to remove the back leanto I put on the shed, and eventually move the shed. The whole shed needs new siding
Wish I had built it on skids. Used to keep my Massey tractor in that shed, now it’s full of mostly junk.

I have a bunch of old double hung windows with exterior storm windows stacked under the lean to I thought I would use them when I built a barn, but didn’t. Also the parts to a 24ft above ground pool. The sides are aluminum slats. I won’t ever install it.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 5:30AM. Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. High 54F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph.
No rain at all so far from this latest system, but we'll have showers on and off during most of next week.

Glad the Texas hailstorm was a blowout, too. Sometimes it's a good thing the weatherman is wrong.

Sounds like your power company was right on top of that outage, Bird. Ours just released new photos showing the broken tower parts that caused the Camp Fire, along with close ups of the portion of power line that actually touched the tower, which generated the electrical sparks that set the whole thing off. And a new judge is questioning the maneuvers the company is making to save millions in taxes, saying there's no way they should profit from the disaster.

Most folks would call losing 7 pounds during the holidays a miracle, Drew!

Hope you find that compressor, Don. The unloader on a HF pancake compressor I purchased gave up the ghost after only a couple years of very light use, so it's maybe OK if yours disappeared.

Got another email from the environmental health lady yesterday, and her supervisor wants the electrical trench rerouted so it's farther away from the leach line. His changes would double the length of the trench, which would mean increasing the size of most of the conductors, more than doubling the cost. I'd also have to move the office trailer, which would mean taking it down off the jacks, unhooking the steel cables that tie it down, and emptying it to avoid damaging the contents. I pointed all that out in my reply, along with new measurements that show the leach line would end 24' away from the electrical trench. I was hoping for more rain to further soften the soil so I could do some probing and actually locate the leach line, which would end the debate. Maybe today I'll give it a try anyway. :muttering:

Reviewed the solar panel grid design one more time before requesting quotes, and found one small error due to the change in solar panel thickness. Got one quote back already which was significantly below suggested retail, but it didn't include shipping from Arizona. That could be significant, as some of the components are quite long, and would have to be delivered by truck. Contacted a local solar company that also sells the stuff, who immediately tried to sell me the whole system. Finally got through to someone that seemed to know what I wanted, but no quote yet. The first place is running a sale that ends Monday, so they may get the order anyway for just being prompt.

36 degrees this morning, going for a high of 42. We had light misty sprinkles most of the day yesterday. Then I went to bed early last night and the NWS radar was showing lots of activity and warnings and such west of us. I woke up about 9:30 p.m. and noticed it was dark in the house; no light in the clock, and my CPAP machine not running. And about that time I saw a light come on in the living room. My wife had just turned on a powerful battery powered light. But I don't think the power outage lasted more than 10 minutes; maybe less, so I went back to sleep. Now this morning, I went out about 4:30 a.m. and poured about 2.15" of rain out of my gauge.

Well, that was 4:30 a.m., and now . . . the temperature was gone DOWN to 28 and snowing; heavy snow in the last hour or so, but lightning up some now. Our first snow of the season. In fact, the last snow we had was January 19 of last year, almost exactly a year ago.

Temp is dropping here also down to 41 and falling but the sun is peeking out so no snow. I saw that blue on the radar map and thought it was wrong because you did not mention snow - but it was dark on your first report.

RNG I agree with you on the missing compressor, our sig leader beamingly said he found it on clearance for $40 when he brought it to the shop. I thought too small and too loud. After the too cold and windy walk with Whip, the garden compressor capper will have to wait for a warm day to solve.

Mid January in Connecticut 55 heading to 58 with sunshine. Tomorrow 60's with rain crazy winter so far, at this rate it will be snowing in July
Brother had 10 ton of crushed stone delivered to his rental property the other day think I'll put the bucket on the tractor and spread it out or it will be there until spring tenant said he would spread it but I don't think he even has a shovel

Good morning to all! Low was 15 at 05:30, up to a balmy 32 now, going for a high of 37. Sunny though, will make it feel warmer than that.

I was awakened this morning with GI upset and a few quick trips into the bathroom... unexpected for sure.... that might change all the big plans I had for today working out in the shop. I went grocery shopping at 2 different stores yesterday which were unexpectedly packed with people.... I do not like crowds anymore... makes me wonder if I was exposed to something.

Glad all you guys avoided having strong storms down south. That system is a doozy for sure! Bird, did you mention snow? I did not think that snow happened that far south in TX, only a freak occurrence....

Drew, that is a good amount of weight loss, hope you are doing ok. Hope the pinched nerve gets better soon!

Mostly, hope the water recedes quickly. When it gets that deep does it cause collateral damage around the area?

DABSGT, that sounds like some good seat time! I see some gravel spreading in my future also....

RNG, it sounded like you had already gotten the approval.... can they go back and make you do additional changes or was it just preliminary ? You have far more patience than me... I would have either just put everything up already without any permits or probably decided to pack up and move! I guess you got excellent training in the art of patience dealing with the mechanic.....
