Thanks for the condolences re the cat. She has an appointment at 2:30 P.M. to take the big ride to the rainbow bridge.

A gal I dated had an 18 yo cat. The cat was having problems and was pretty much blind. We took if to a specialist Vet who had a color ultrasonic scanner. The Vet gave us lasix and some other pills and said the cat had about a 90 days to live. I could have set my watch to her prediction. The cat passed on the 90th day after the appt.

Sorry you're having to deal with this.

Brewed a full pot of coffee this morning. 36° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with cloudy skies all day. Son arrived at my place close to 7am. Spent the day reminiscing about all the good times we have had at our place. Had the required lasagna for dinner. Only this year it was Stouffers. Lots of wind, rain, and lighting thou out the day. Lots of branches but no real damage. I can put the Trac-Vac away and get snowblower on the mower. Wind sent all the leaves into woods next door. Thanksgiving will be at a restaurant in town where youngest son lives. Oldest son will be back on the road with his truck this evening.
Had a different bird at feeder yesterday.

Mostly, I have looked into a laser sight for my pistol. Haven't purchased one yet. At local gun shop I was able to check out all the different models. My eyes say a green dot is the best all around especially if it is going to be use in daylight. Now that I have time I need to get over to the shop and get one for my 9mm.

Drew, glad you made the trip safely. Took a long time. But I weened myself off anything in my coffee.

David, hope Sophie's procedure went well.

Kyle, Detroit has a very good Thanksgiving Parade. No sure you cans see it in TX.

Mostly, nice picture.

Buckeye, glad you are off the meds and feeling better. Enjoy your OH trip.

Prayers and best wishes for all.

Good Morning All.

Harry woodpecker according to my sister. Little bigger than Downey.

Harry woodpecker according to my sister. Little bigger than Downey.

It could be; definitely a male. They look very similar. It's easier to identify them when they are seen together. I use my suet cage's size as reference. The hairy's are the same size or larger; the downeys smaller.

I see that you made it to your destination :)

It's still windy here; but not so strong as to negatively impact on the smoking of the lamb.

Yes, made it to the farm.

My sister is president of a bird watching club. Although they said it’s harder to tell this time of year. Beak on a Harry is longer.

The downy vs. hairy debate:

They do have a similar color pattern but the hairy woodpeckers are much larger and even weigh twice as much as their cousins. Another chief difference is the length of their beaks; the downy's beak is half the length of its head, while the hairy's beak is as long as its head. Since Ron's woodpecker's beak is as long as it's head my vote is a hairy woodpecker.

Under normal circumstances, Smokie would holler and squawk all the way to the vets', 5 miles. There was not a peep out of her. She knew where she was going and why. She was ready and went peacefully. She is in her coffin and in the deep freezer until spring when I will bury her.
Thanks again for your good thoughts.

I was wondering how many of you have a navigation system in your car. Our 2017 Ford Escape came with Ford's navigation system and it's been very handy a few times. although not used a lot. It was a window sticker $795 option. And now, after nearly 3 years, I've noticed quite a number of things that have changed, and yesterday the mail brought a letter from Ford saying "A new SYNC 3 Navigation Map Update is available . . . .." It can be ordered on a preloaded USB shipped directly to me for $149, download option for $109 but is expected to take about THREE HOURS to download, or contact your dealer which I plan to do next week. Don't yet know what the dealer would charge to do it.

My 2015 RAM 1500 has the big screen 8.4 Radio with NAV, it was expensive and the map upgrades are expensive,
yes a Garmin with the free updates would be less expensive and possibly even better navigation.
But I really like the huge builtin display and the street view for many major intersections,
but the size of the display and the fact that it's not up on top of my dash or sliding around on rough roads
or falling off the dash when off road and running up and down steep hills makes it worth the cost to me.

With the new systems able to mirror the phone displays that may be a nice way to go also,
or when someone comes up with abetter navigation system that can interface with the large in dash displays that will be nice.

Went for a look about on the MX today. Beautiful, but chilly. Saw the biggest Hawk I've ever seen with a Thanksgiving squirrel in it's talons fly into the tree line on the right. Trust ya'll had a good one...

Had a great dinner over at the "son's house"....easiest thanksgiving trip we've ever made, even though it was walking through the snow accross the driveway..... Saw a couple of neat snow formations coming off the roofs so took a quick pic.

Turkey was the best we ever had, along with all the fixins'... I'm way overstuffed....

I hope everyone has an equally enjoyable day!

Good evening all. 40F for the start, thunderstorms, light wind. 2 1/2 inch rain in minnow bucket. Rain slowed down to drizzle, overcast fog and drizzle all day, wind stayed light, high temp 44F. Puttered in garage, got pedals, cadence sensor, rack bag and new headlight mounted on bike. Worked on trying to remove old adjuster from brake caliper, that was a no go. Need to swap tires front to back, replace or repair the tubes, get new brake caliper, and long term replace races in front hub on 10-speed. Went to stepdaughter's for Thanksgiving meal, prime rib, yukon potatoes, sweet potatoes, green been casserole, and 7 ingredient salad. Tart cherry pie for dessert. Yum!
Eric sorry about your bread.
Drew glad your trip went ok, great mileage.
Phil hope family gathering went well.
Bill sorry about your lack of power and your cat.
Ron safe travel for family.
Bird sorry to hear about all the poor health.
Rich sorry about your power, hope you get second turkey prepped and done
Don looks like rough going for the trail making. Glad I don't know how to run jack hammer :)
RNG good luck on the van
Bird I have the navigation in pickup but not Explorer. rely on Garmin for navigation.
David good to hear wife's eyes ok, have fun at gathering
DABSGT enjoy family
Step, nice pic your weather much better than here!
Ted neat snow pics, funny how snow curls off roof.
prayers for all

Sad and tough, but part of life. Bet she’s glad you had the courage to do her right, tough as it was.

Bird, the new Ridgeline has a Nav system, but all I’ve done is turn on maps and see where we are going. In the past, I have used Maps on my iphone.

Good morning,
13 and the high will be 23 °F. Wind N 11 mph. A mix of sun and cloud.

Today is my monthly trip to North Bay. That is the only thing on my plate today. We should be done and back home around 2 P.M., I hope.

Enjoy your cold turkey sandwiches all you that stuffed themselves yesterday. Or will it be a hot turkey sandwich today and cold turkey the rest of the week.

Have a good day all

Good morning all. What a difference to finally have a clear blue sky. The last of the rain left a bit of a skating rink on the yard outside when it dropped below freezing last night and right now I'm waiting for the sun to thaw out the bonnet on my wife's car so I can get it in to charge up the battery. She hasn't used it much recently and these new fangled no-key-no-button door openers drain the battery way too fast.

Bird, one fun thing about not updating maps is finding a new section of road. Our sat nav lady starts to say take a left or a right, then a u turn and finally goes into stunned silence once she believes the car is in the middle of a field :)

Kyle - I never realised you don't call them valves ! Your McIntosh stereo amp has done well to last so long. If you are feeling nostalgic, then I suppose you could look to replace the electrolytic capacitors as they are usually the first components to fail (other than those electronic tubes). If it was mine though, I would take a picture, bury it, then go out and buy a transistor amplifier :D

35 going to 51.

LFN, sorry to hear about your cat. Hope you will get another soon.

Get well, RNG!

LS, thanks for sharing those cool snow pix.

We had 11 at our house for dinner...went well until the oven started dying before all was cooked. Its temp dropped and wouldn't stay above 222. Quick reboot, and read of the owner's manual didn't help. I always write the date acquired, price, and where bought on the front of the owners manual...ironic that the purchase date was exactly 3 years before. I didn't check the warranty yet, but could it be 3 years? So our guests think we are jinxed, since about 5 years ago our refrigerator died on Thanksgiving day while they visited.

I finished cooking everything (3 casseroles, turkey, salmon) on the outdoors grill...but the wind and cold made it hard to keep the heat constant.

Then one of the guest dogs attacked Coco and left a deep tooth puncture on top of her head. Coco is big (85 lbs) but is all bark and growl, not a dog fighter. Cleaned wound, but I don't think it looks too good this morning, so think a visit to vet this morning is wise. One of the other guests insulted the dog owner, so we also have some feelings to deal with today.

Or, can I just come over and stay with one of you? :)
