I had quite the guffaw laugh over that one Eric. Wng, I'd recommend you park that log splitter on a hill, so that you and coco can push start it next time...

We live on top of a hill, but hadn't thought of push starting the splitter. Can you do that with an automatic transmission? :)

Hope things stay better with your daughter.

31 and crunchy frost outside, after yesterday's rain and this morning's freeze. But clear as a bell, and star-filled heavens. Hard to believe it is supposed to rain up to an inch later today and tonight.

Time to fire up the woodstove again after a few days of relative warmth, and then roast coffee. Plus found a leak under the kitchen sink...plastic drain pipe, so may need a trip to town.

Have a great day.

I tried growing sweet potatoes and they didn't do all that well, small and bug bit.
A great vegetable, good for you, and if you don't glom it up with unhealthy add ons, not that fattening either.
I like light sour cream with mine.
Really should have brought more home, put them in the air fryer as mentioned.
14 cents a pound means some farmers are just giving them away, maybe not covering costs.
Not too many things you can buy for 14 cents where someone is making much money on it...

back is going to be hurting tomorrow but we boxed up just under a thousand pounds of sweet potatoes, seconds, mostly due to being big, but who cares when you cook them...all comes out the same, perhaps just not restaurant sized.

Very pleased to report potato giveaway was well organized, but started an hour later than we thought. So there was a line, and then the head guy there, who has a voice that could carry ten miles, started preaching, and the clapping started, and the singing started, and my ear was going nuts so I had to go back to truck. We were the only folks not of color there this morning. Here was this giant pile of 22 tons of potatoes, and after awhile our reaction was all the same, we aren't making a dent in it...
Then they stopped taking names and having a line and it became a free for all. All very nice and very polite, but think of big city
airport baggage carousel, off a really big plane, and way too many people trying to pack in to get the luggage going by. Well these potatoes weren't moving but we were running out of elbow room for a while, and you step out and someone steps right in. A good time was had by all, and those potatoes will be gone in days in the local community. I wonder what that pile will look like tonight or even if it's there.

We had to drive out in the opposite direction because so many parked cars had jammed the street.
I only went down a no exit street once... but we turned around fine.

That is a great post of a great time, Drew!!!
I'd loved to have been there!

Good morning.

Temperature is 26 and going to a high of 39°F. Wind W 8 gusting to 19 mph. Mainly sunny.

I have a dump/shopping run today. Mine and the neighbours' garbage to go to the dump, then off to the grocery store.
Turkeys are on sale at $1.49/lb. I'm going to get a piece of that action.

I got a phone call yesterday, the hardware store is telling me that my anodes are in. I think they are mistaken. Normally it takes at least a week to get anything that was ordered, it has only been 4 days.

Sweet potatoes are my favourite spud. I cook them whole in the microwave. I can eat them cold as well, skin and all. I'd rather have sweet potatoes than white ones.

Have a good day all

25 right now...high about 40...nice day, it appears.

Chores are a dump run, program a couple new garage door remotes and, if Suzette wants to hit the store, do that.
Also, fuel the tractor and maybe get 5 gallons of diesel. Looks like some snow coming in tomorrow...

This is great news Don, now, if you only had so much success with hand and foot.

Actually I have moved up to 3rd place (out of 63) for the continuing quarter ending Dec 30. I haven't been having a lot of wins but more wins than losses and apparently more than the people in front of me.

Good morning! 39˚F clear skies heading to 67˚F, going to be a very nice day.

Mom call yesterday and wanted me to pick up some sweet potatoes for her. She saw the HEB add that said 7 pounds for $1 and thought it was a typo.

Drinking second cup of coffee. 18° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 42° with PM clouds. I was able to do a lot energy conserving yesterday. Today I need to change batteries in alarm system sensors and smoke/carbon dioxide alarms. Should have done it when DST ended. May get out and blow some leaves away from house and garden pond.
Not sure I can go with the sweet potatoes. I still remember them from when I was a kid. Candid sweet potatoes with marshmallows. Didn't like them 70 years ago. Hard to change my mind on them being good in Air Fryer. :ashamed:

Don, good news on Dr report. Good pictures.

Randy, nice cars. Wish I had taken pictures of my many muscle cars. Top ones were a 56 Chevy with 63 327 vette engine. 64 Plymouth Fury with 426. 68 Corvette. 1974 El Camino SS. 1970 AMX and others.

bunyip, 40+°C is way too hot in what we would call spring. I remember being in Toronto in the late 80's when temperatures hit 40°. Only consolation was I had my boat out on Lake Ontario fishing for some relief. Lots of fog from water temperature difference from air temperature.

Drew, good report on hauling sweet potatoes.

Hawkeye, special prayers for your daughter.

Kyle, prayers for your family.

I am sure I missed some reply's. But Sassy is barking about something.

Good Morning All.

Ron, any chance you have a pic of that '64 Fury? That is a long time favorite of mine.

hope all daughters are doing better today.

wading through junk in storage, found a brand new high capacity laser toner cartridge that matched one of the units I have in there, so
that for sure does not go to dump. Actually, I'm going to swing by the donation place first and see what they take. What they don't take unfortunately
goes into a landfill. At least I remembered to take the paper out, got almost half a ream of perfectly good paper. I worked out of my home for the last ten years and
collected a fair number of units, going from individual function to all in ones. What really got me was high ink prices due to six different cartridges in some cases in one unit.
They should have to publish cost per page as part of the specs...

I must have twenty full big boxes of paperwork in there. That's going to take a while plowing through.
Multiple businesses, one I can finally shred, it's been ten years.
I need to get an asst to help me, likely a woman, who since she's on the clock I can't dawdle looking through memory lane, and never get done.
Plus if the whole box needs shredding she can sit there and do that while I sneeze from box dust.

22F clear sky upper 30's for high.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...Pickup truck load grit for the icy driveway, couple wheel barrow loads wood in the basement, take walk about see what the critters are up to,watch college football.

Enjoy the day all.

Ridgeline has lots of bells and whistles we never had before. Couldn稚 help but think that kids the grow up learning to drive with all this stuff will likely be less attuned than those of us that learned without.

They'll certainly be more distracted.

Not mine. From 2018 car show. This year there was black one with red interior like the one I had. Not sure why I did not get a picture of it.

33 and sunny today good morning.
Drew that pile of sweet potatoes made me think of sweet potato pie. For years the wife of my Sgt. would make me a sweet potato pie every thanksgiving right up to his retirement and move to NC great guy and family, I later supervised his son.
Don good That you found a cardiologist that you like and had good report.
Randy nice cars pictures my 2 favorite as a youngster a1967 Buick GS and a 1964 Chevy Impala wit a 283 that car was a tank.
Hawkeye hope all is well with your daughter I'm sure you will make the right job choice.
RNG after going to the local auto parts store and getting new plow pins and getting everything put together wile putting things way I found the missing ones right where I put them.
Dave my new truck has so many gadgets I don't think I'll ever use them all or figure out how to use them. I do like the wifi.
Plan for today head to pet shop pick up some treats for the dogs, grocery store and car wash to see if that F11 is as good as they say put 2 coats on the truck as soon as I took it home looks great said that dirt should just hose off.
Buckeye happy to read your doing so good
Great day all

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 69F. Winds light and variable.
NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch starting Tuesday going all the way through Thursday. Snow down to 2500' (I'm at 1200' here), and much lower temps. So long fall...

Another trip to town and back yesterday with out the van setting the Check Engine Light. Almost feel like I'm getting a handle on "modern" circa 1994 engine management technology.

Got the rear bench seat out of storage yesterday, which also converts to a bed. The end closest to the stove was covered in cooking grease that was so hard I had to scrape it off with a putty knife. The seat hinges were the same, and got a nice coat of Rustoleum when they were done. The contact cement arrived yesterday, so today I'll see if I can't get the front of the bench refinished with new Formica. Not sure if I can get the old stuff off, or if it's OK to just rough it up with some coarse grit sandpaper and glue over it.

Also need to get the wood shims swapped out for aluminum ones under the container so it's ready for the road base gravel on Monday. Hopefully it arrives early enough to let me get it formed into ramps at the end and get the firewood loaded. Nothing like waiting 'till the last minute. I also need to get pre-emergent spread in advance of the coming rain or I'l have weeds everywhere. Except I also need to get the fresh decomposed granite that will come with the gravel spread first, so that's looking doubtful as well. At least the DG and gravel will be dry when they load it, so I won't be paying for water.

Hope everyone enjoys a nice weekend...

Good morning! It's 43° and clear this morning. Our forecast indicates 67° for this afternoon.

Drew ... good luck with your down sizing.

David ... enjoy your new truck. Seems like I find a new bell or whistle every time I drive my new F-350 KR.

Ron ... I agree on sweet potatoes. My wife loves them but, for "baked potatoes" I prefer russets and the yukon gold for "mashed potatoes" and in beef stew.

Don ... our HEB had sweet potatoes 6# for $1 ... but 8# limit ... whuuu?

Hawkeye ... hope you daughter gets better.

Lots of car guys here. My first "car" was a 1951 Chevy 5-window pickup (my only Chevy truck ever), then a 53 Chevy Bellaire 2D HT, 57 Chevy 2D sedan 283 bored .020 over and cam, 40 Ford pickup w/ sm block Chevy , 66 Chevelle SS 396 / 375 HP, 67 Corvette 427 ..... then USAFSS for 4 years.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday and weekend.

Prayers to all.

Good morning to all! Low of 28, going up to 44 today. Most of the 4" of snow we got melted off, but the remaining slushy areas are not solid as a rock. Supposed to have a big storm system move in next Wednesday with lots of snow / rain covering the state. Not good for the holiday travel.

Ron J-------"LS, talked to son yesterday while he was trucking through Albuquerque. Only rain while he was driving" -----The snow avoided Albuquerque, the surrounding areas got varying amounts. The mountains got a lot....

Hawkeyes, hope your daughter is doing better. Hope you are able to sort out all the job choices.

It's odd how prices can vary so much on food...sweet potatoes here are now at $.98/LB, down from $1.15..... We wish they were $.14 . Other things are a lot cheaper than what you guys post...I can't figure it out.

Drew, I don't envy you one bit... Just went through shredding years of business stuff. Took days to do. Seemed like every time I got one box done, two more appeared. I just took the last computer monitor and printer to a local "horse rescue" charity store. It sure feels good to finally get things cleaned out. Today, the last 2 desks that I have will also be going there to be put to good use!

The weather has put a damper (literally) on the son's garage project. We got about halfway up on the siding before the rain/snow hit. Now there is soupy mud all around it.... Hopefully it will dry out enough to get some more done before the big storm next week.

After much research, and indecision, I purchased a Firman dual fuel generator at Costco. It was the only one that had all the features I was looking for without going up into the 12K watt range. Time will tell if I made the right choice.

I'm still experiencing the computer issues.... The replacement purchase will happen during the "Black Friday" sales. Some "sneak peek" reports are showing $50-100 off the current Apple prices this week. I can deal with my current frustration for another week. It will only make my patience stronger....

Everyone have a great weekend! Prayers sent for all, a few special ones for those needing.

Nope, born a yankee. But my job was to service/install machines that the I company I worked for made. I spent about 1/2 my time in Canada. Most of my holidays were spent there fishing. I have been accused of having a Canadian accent, Eh.
