... left with a Lionel John Deere train set for my grandsons and left forgetting the pins.

Don't feel bad, DAB, I do stuff like that all the time now. Yesterday when I went rummaging through the van parts box, I only found two of the four latch seals I needed. Went online and almost ordered another pair, but I could'a sworn I bought all four. Looked in another couple of places with no luck, then went back to the box and found the other two. But by then I'd put the first two down someplace and hod to go looking again for them.:confused2: I'm pretty sure if my head wasn't fastened on, I'd spend a lot of time looking for it, too!

That's good to know, Rick, because I have a quart jug of the stuff on the shelf, ready to treat the next batch of fuel.

Do you leave the treated gas in the tanks, or run 'em dry when you're finished?

Now that I’m using the Stabil, I never run anything dry ... even rarely used equipment.

I also use it in the Corvette as the Stabil creates a “vapor” that should eliminate internal “ethanol caused” corrosion in metal fuel tanks.

What's the longest time you've left the Stabil treated gas in a tank, Rick?

And are you treating ethanol laced gas, or just E0?

A cloudy midnight temp daytime low of 32ºF with apparent light rain showers during the wee hours. It is an overcast 44ºF presently which is close to today’s predicted high temperature and I anticipate falling temperatures and precipitation this afternoon with the approaching cold front and increasing winds.

BEF- My grid-tied system goes down when the grid does. When I read David’s and RNG’s systems and their hookups to alternate backup systems and the response postings from the rest of you my head starts racing about off grid operating, batteries, and generator interfacing and then my mind overloads. From what I believe I know and from what I learn here it’s possible, but then reality sets in. :( I/We may be legally bound to our current setup with EverSource. We have DTV and we are allowed to own the receivers, but that may be a regional decision.

David- Nice looking new truck and pictures. Good luck with your “Mental Health” Day. Going solar was a cost saving measure for us. With our energy production based on150% average annual consumption (a probable mistake at this point) we have a lot of $ credit to burn. If/When our replacement propane fired boiler fails we will go back to electric if it’s possible with the motherboard running everything plumbing. We could also change back to electric for clothes drying.

It was too warm outside today for me to even think about firing up the wood stove.

Billy- My Quadcab Tundra easily held 2 St. Bernards comfortably; lots of surface area to clean . I found that minced fresh ginger added to broths/tea really helps cut the hunger pangs and apparently is good for one’s stomach. The Oikos® Triple Zero greek yogurt is pretty healthy @ 110 calories and no added sugars and has many blended in flavors that do not taste chemical.

Ethanol laced gas and ULSD have been a bane to my existence. I am a firm believer in fuel stabilizers/enhancers.

DABSGT- I am shopping challenged on a good day and find that I am getting increasingly distracted dealing with salespeople at checkout time. :embarrassed:

RNG- I spend most of every day retracing my steps to relocate and then lose again stuff.

Don- That is great news. I wish that I had not “discovered” that local smokehouse. :embarrassed:

I hope that everyone is having a decent Friday and a + plans for the weekend.

My + thoughts and prayers.

36°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 45° today. Had some rain overnight, but not a lot. Expecting more tonight, possibly changing over to snow Saturday morning. Low 60s again for the first part of next week. The roller coaster continues.

Congrats on getting the new system up and running, David.

69°F and 1.07 inches rain.

How pleasant to awaken to power in house and no din from a running generator. Not that the little Honda 7000 was that noisy. What a trooper running about 54 hours non stop.

Off to breakfast with wife in new Ridgeline
Then the important mission of the day - Drivers License renewal, with all the new ID requirements. Then a few errands and back home.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Then the important mission of the day - Drivers License renewal, with all the new ID requirements.

The Secretary of State's office (runs the drivers facilities in Illinois) has been running commercials on local radio stations lately talking about the new "Real ID" requirements, which they say don't actually take affect until next October. I haven't gone to their website yet to find out exactly what they require for documentation. I keep hearing in my head those bad movie lines where some jack-booted government thug says, "I need to see your papers!":eek:

Since I started treating ALL of my "ethanol contaminated" gasoline, with Stabil Marine 360, about 5 years ago ... I've virtually eliminated all issues.

View attachment 629686

I started using this last year on your recommendation.

RNG, thanks for the website...no stations near me or on my usual routes...some about 25-50 miles away I could use next time I have to go in that direction.

What's the longest time you've left the Stabil treated gas in a tank, Rick?

Less than a year I’d guess. Our Swisher string trimmer gets used once or twice a year, trimming around two tanks. It always starts easily.

E0 is hard to find here. Buc-ees sell it in Katy but, that’s still 55 miles away.

21F this morning, heavy frost. Daughter that lives with us has had the congestion/cough for more than a month, she went to doc a week ago and they gave her meds for bronchitis, she is doing better but the cough is hanging on and now has caused some muscle pain in her back, really gets her when she coughs.. Wife was taking her to ER this morning to see if anything is going on.. she heard and felt a pop and is in bad pain, can't hardly move..

I got school bus drop off duty for grand daughter.. she loves going to school and learning.. awesome bus driver too, all the kids like him.

I have a meeting later this morning, see if the 'other' job is a fit.. might be good to get out of the group I am in completely.. and it would use the knowledge I have gained the last 20 years.

Lots going on, glad folks are posting, I really enjoy reading how things are going for folks. David, nice job on solar work. Thanks for sharing.

Stay safe, prayers for those in need.
