Rick, speaking of grapples, that is exactly what I was thinking about. Nice picture.
A remarkably handy device to have, when you have just the right tool for the job

Thanks Kyle. We very much enjoyed hosting the hunt. The kids enjoyed the hunt. As I previously noted ... most had never hunted before. They all camped out, in their tents, at our VFD and we had a great warming fire pit they really enjoyed.

I suspect we'll approve a repeat, at our next VFD board meeting. We hosted the hunt along with TPWD.

The weather was almost perfect, not a drop of rain, cool mornings and evenings. The kids were exceptional ... very polite, very appreciative. They asked questions about hunting and I don't think I ever saw any of them with their nose in a smart phone. We had lots of small group conversations about safety, conservation, hunting etiquette, etc. around the camp fire.

Good job, Rick. Thanks for passing the hunting tradition along to the next generation. Especially in this day and age, programs like yours are in short supply, and yours serves as an example of what should be going on nationwide.

Looks like we all need to plan something on Friday the 13th, it's going to be a good luck day.

I'm not really superstitious, but I do keep an eye out for bad things happening on Friday the thirteenth. And I've noticed most of them happen on the twelfth and fourteenth!

We'll all be pullin' for you on the thirteenth next month, Randy!

Good morning to all! Low was only 42 this morning, going up to 62, calm and sunny! It's the calm before the storm, supposed to rain / snow by Tuesday night and continue through Friday. We need the precipitation.

I've been really busy trying to get the son's garage built. I'm not much help other than directing what to do and how to do it with the frequent "I'll hold it for you" thrown in. The knee isn't any better....I'm still waiting for a surgery date.

Lots of stuff going on with you guys! New tractors, new guns, new vehicles, lots of other stuff... Too much to remember and reply about....

Drew, I would take it as a privilege to show you around "Old town" Albuquerque, plus go up to the Sandia Peak from our side of the mountain! As Rick mentioned, the High Finance restaurant at the top of the mountain is no longer.... It has been totally rebuilt and is now called the "10K Restaurant", named after the elevation of the mountain it sits atop (10,500'). I haven't been there yet, but have been told it has excellent food.

I'm off to outside...trying to get a few things done before the weather changes....

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent out.

Went out to the shop Saturday to check generator, it was fine, topped off fuel, added some treatment, ran it for an hour or so with a halogen light. Topped off fuel in snowblower, started it up and it had some surge so took carb off and cleaned it thoroughly, put it all back together, ran great. Checked those off my list.. went in the house and exercised on total gym to stretch low back, as it was starting to hurt when I was out in shop.. Wife went to visit her Dad while her sister was off doing things (he is recovering from a fall, broke his arm at the shoulder and a bunch of ribs). He is doing well, but at 95 does not eat much. He is getting some PT/OT at the place he is staying.

Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 7:15AM. Plenty of sunshine. High 76F. Winds light and variable.
Sounds like chances are increasing I'll be waking up to no electricity Wednesday morning. More high winds and low humidity.
Looks like the 10-day forecast is now calling for rain a week from Wednesday; just in time for Thanksgiving.

The OS reinstall on the laptop went fine yesterday, and once completed, I was able to get the Migration Assistant application to find a TimeMachine backup from November 10th. It's been chewing its way through it ever since. Right now it's working on the Applications folder, reporting 48 minutes remain. I don't know if there's more left to do after that, though.:confused2: It's also reporting transfer speeds between 7 and 14 MB/second. I don't know if that's mega BYTES or mega BITS, but if it's taking all this time to restore from a local network backup, I'd hate to think how long it would take to bring it down from one of those cloud storage services.

Never made it to the auto parts store yesterday, instead I installed the plastic trim around the steering column, then started in on the sound deadening over the engine compartment. Got the hatch done, and now I can barely lift the darn thing. Probably finish the rest today, and start in on the floor. I'm hoping after today's meeting with the solar guy, I'll have enough info to complete the building permit application, and will need to go down there to deliver it. I can hit the car parts place on the way back.

Also got tired of seeing the steering wheel on crooked, so took a short drive to fix that. Stopped at my bodyshop neighbor's place, and met a friend of his from Paradise. He lost his home in the fire, had no insurance, and is now living out of a cargo container and something of a shack. He's got water, and a porta potty, but no electricity, and he says ice lasts four days in his cooler. A wood stove salvaged from the ashes works great for cooking. He said that the only good thing to come of the fire is that now he's so broke both his ex-wives have moved away and no longer pester him for money. There but for the grace of God...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

40°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 51° today. Will be in the mid-60s by Thursday.

Got a bunch of piddly things done over the weekend, those somewhat minor things that kept getting pushed aside in favor of other more pressing stuff. One was a bit time consuming, but hardwired some 9VDC power supplies to a couple of The Wife's shock mats she uses to keep the cats off of her quilting machine. Those things eat batteries like candy. had to modify the plastic housings to accommodate the cable entry, but now no more batteries necessary for them. Felt like I spent half the weekend running errands, but I did get to spend some quality time in the studio Sunday working on some drum parts for a rock cover of a Mozart piece, his Serenade in G - aka "Eine Kleine Nachtmusic." I really love doing that stuff.

Congrats on the new tractor, Randy. Looks great.

mostly_, the wall mount wouldn't fit right even if the tuners weren't touching, as the body shape in that area isn't flat or even symmetrical. I kind of assumed it would be off a bit when I bought it. Adding some felt to the side edges should remedy the problem.

Congrats on the new truck, David. Our F-150 is starting to give us some regular grief (something killed the battery again), and we talked this weekend about looking for something else, too. There's a lot about that truck that I really like (like the 7700 package), but it's all moot if it's not reliable and dependable.

Nice new revolver, Roy. I've always been a revolver guy. My EDC is a S&W 637-2, and I've grown quite fond of it over the past few years.
